Chapter 11

Olivia Miller was rather puzzled.

"The Great Chu rises, Chen Sheng is king?" he blurted out jokingly.

Lily lightly tapped him on the head with a book and said, "Young master, don't talk nonsense. It's been over eighteen hundred years since Chen Sheng."

Oh, then it must be a parallel world—Olivia Miller thought to himself.

He wanted to ask a few more questions, but Blade glanced at the sky and got up to fetch some water.

Both of these maids could tell the time just by looking up at the sky, a skill that Olivia Miller greatly admired.

Lily wiped Olivia Miller's face, took off his outer garment, then sat down at the head of the bed and let him rest his head on her lap.

Yesterday, Olivia Miller had been muddle-headed and hadn't paid attention to these things, but today he felt rather resistant.

Lily said, "Young master, you've been acting so strange these past two days."

"Not at all." Olivia Miller had no choice but to obediently lie down.

Lily pursed her lips in a smile, looking quite pleased with herself. She had discovered that her young master was becoming more disobedient, but as long as she said 'so strange,' he would behave.

She gently massaged Olivia Miller's head and asked, "Does the wound on the back of your head still hurt?"

"No, it doesn't."

"Will young master dislike Lily in the future? Is that why you don't want to rest on Lily anymore?"

Olivia Miller said, "It's just that you might feel uncomfortable, your legs will go numb."

Lily was taken aback.

She realized that he seemed to be holding back his weight; his head wasn't as heavy as usual when he rested it down.

This young master, who had always been a bit silly, seemed to have become a little more considerate.

"Young master, do you know? Everyone says you're foolish. But Lily thinks you just grow up a bit slower. One day, you'll slowly become sensible and gradually get smarter."

—This was what the maid named Lily was thinking in her heart.

After a while, seeing that Olivia Miller had closed his eyes and fallen asleep, she carefully got up.

Hearing the sound of the door closing, Olivia Miller slowly opened his eyes, looked at the canopy above the bed, and muttered to himself, "In this life, I should really live well..."

Chapter 5 Madam Sullivan

"Do I not need to go and greet the elders?"

Cherry was combing Olivia Miller's hair and found it quite amusing. She said, "Young master actually wants to go greet the master? Usually, you dread going to Dukang Study the most."

Olivia Miller actually didn't want to go, so he probed again, "Is it okay if I don't go?"

Cherry said, "Young master, did you forget? The master and the second young master went to the country estate outside the capital two days ago. They won't be back until tomorrow."

Olivia Miller was a little surprised, "There's even a country estate?"

It felt just like accidentally finding out you had a villa in the suburbs.

Blade happened to come in carrying a basin and said with a smile, "Speaking of the country estate, it's clearly our young master's, but others are coveting it..."

"Don't talk about such baseless rumors," Lily interrupted.

Blade quickly stopped, knowing that Lily was looking out for her.

Blade knew that saying these things in their own room was fine, but if someone overheard, she could be accused of gossiping. If it ruined the relationship between the young master and his cousins, she wouldn't be able to forgive herself even if beaten to death.

Olivia Miller felt frustrated. It sounded like he had plenty of assets, but he didn't even have any cash on hand.

"Lily sis, are we going out today?"

Lily was wringing a cloth to wipe his face. Hearing this, she smiled and said, "We're not going out. From now on, let's just stay in the courtyard, okay?"

Olivia Miller thought: How can that be? I still need to redeem the jade pendant and find out who tried to kill me.

He could only start acting spoiled.

Lily pinched his face with a smile.

"Young master, Lily just wrung the cloth, my hands are warm, hehe." As she spoke, she rubbed his face, changing the subject.

Although Lily was Olivia Miller's maid, she was the one who took the lead between the two of them.

Yesterday, the little girl had heard that her young master had been ambushed, and after returning to her room, she secretly cried for a long time.

She had made up her mind not to go out, so Olivia Miller had no way to deal with her.

After having some pastries in the morning, Lily brought out some wooden toys to play with Olivia Miller.

Olivia Miller really looked down on these childish things, but when Lily used the line "Young master, you're acting so strange today" to scare him, he had no choice.

He could only take off his shoes, climb onto the bed, and sit cross-legged facing her—to play with the tangram puzzle.

"Young master, look, doesn't this look like a fish?" Lily was having a great time.

Olivia Miller rolled his eyes.

This is way too childish, sis.

"A fish, Lily gets one point. Your turn," Lily said again.

Olivia Miller casually arranged a shape.

"Wow, young master, you're amazing! Is this a crane? You get two points."

"Why is a fish one point and a crane two?"

"Because a crane is harder, of course," Lily replied matter-of-factly.

Olivia Miller was speechless, thinking, "Sis, what kind of scoring system is this? It's so inconsistent."

...

The morning sunlight filtered softly through the paper windows.

The early autumn weather was a bit warm.

Lily hadn't slept well after crying all night yesterday. Now, sitting on the bed, she felt warm all over, and her eyelids started to droop. After a while, she began to doze off.

Olivia Miller carefully reached out and gave her a gentle push.

"Young master, it's your turn..."

Lily mumbled softly, then promptly fell over and started snoring away.
