Chapter 4

(What kind of organization could possibly abduct me from deep within the base without a sound? What is the purpose of this organization? Why put me together with these ordinary people? Do they want to observe my behavior? Maybe see if I accidentally reveal something? Or are they trying to use some kind of trick to extract what's in my head?)

These were Henry Clark's doubts and speculations. He was completely baffled. In fact, if there really were some hostile party that had kidnapped him, they would have made sure he couldn't even commit suicide right away, and then used interrogation and truth serum to get everything out of his mind. There was no way they would put him in an environment like this, because if someone was hostile toward him, they would definitely know all about him... In this kind of environment, not to mention snipers—even a dense military force, as long as they didn't use weapons of mass destruction, wouldn't be able to catch him, and he could easily escape...

(But... why do I feel that something is so off, the time and place just don't add up...)

At this moment, everyone had already gathered together in a group. After all, the situation was too bizarre, and no one could be sure there wasn't danger nearby. Following herd mentality, everyone huddled together, even those who had previously gone to touch the protective layer. Each person was speaking in their own native language or in English.

Among them, Henry Clark acted completely normal, glancing around with a slightly panicked expression, occasionally asking those around him something in Chinese. In reality, his mind was racing. According to his previous reasonable deduction, some powerful organization had kidnapped him and dumped him here to observe his reaction, hoping he would inadvertently reveal something. This explanation could barely account for some things, but there were still many things it couldn't explain—like the most basic one... the time and season before he lost consciousness, and the time and season here now. That was the biggest question.

(And also, "Skyline Catastrophe"... these four characters seem to be a key part of the information displayed on the watch. Besides the name Jerry, these four characters seem very important. "Skyline Catastrophe"... is it some kind of special code? Or an operation code? Or... is it just referring to that sci-fi movie?)

Henry Clark had seen the sci-fi movie "Skyline Catastrophe." As someone who couldn't often leave the base, and couldn't even use the internet regularly, his main forms of entertainment were reading and watching movies. Naturally, he had seen a movie called "Skyline Catastrophe"... But what on earth could that movie have to do with him being kidnapped?

(So, the key clue... is still with that woman?)

While everyone was in chaos and Henry Clark was deep in thought, a sudden breeze blew by, and everyone saw a passerby hurriedly walk past them. Normally, this would be nothing unusual, but this passerby looked at the group with a strange gaze. Most importantly, the passerby walked right through the invisible protective layer, passing by the group.

Everyone immediately stopped their commotion and looked at each other in confusion. The ordinary-looking blond youth carefully walked to where the protective shield had been, waved his hand, and found his whole hand had passed beyond the previous boundary. He hesitated for a moment, then stepped his whole body out. Sure enough, the protective shield had disappeared.

"It's gone... it's already disappeared!"

The young man turned back excitedly and shouted to the others, then hurried to catch up with the passerby—a slightly overweight middle-aged man. The youth caught up in a few steps and immediately asked, "Hello, sir, for some reason, I got lost. Could you tell me where this place is?"

The middle-aged man was startled. This group of people gathered in the open road was already strange enough, and now someone was suddenly asking him for directions. He immediately looked at the youth and the group with suspicion. After a long moment, seeing that the others weren't coming over, he finally replied warily, "This is Beverly Hills..."

Before he could finish, the youth immediately interrupted, "Sorry, sir, maybe I didn't express myself clearly. What I mean is... which country and city is this?"

The middle-aged man's expression grew even stranger. He looked carefully at the bespectacled youth, then at the whole group, including Henry Clark. There were men and women, young and middle-aged, and none of them had any luggage. They didn't look like tourists at all. And... could they all possibly be high on drugs?

"This is Los Angeles, USA... Do you need any help? Like calling the police?"

The youth was stunned for a moment, his expression instantly becoming bizarrely exaggerated, so much so that he didn't even have time to respond to the middle-aged man. The man, sensing something was wrong, instinctively took out his phone.
