Emily Scott gently comforted her: “Grace, don’t cry, don’t cry, let’s go home first, okay, let’s go home!”
Grace nodded obediently.
Emily Scott hugged the tear-streaked Grace and led her out, glancing back at the room before leaving.
Did he recognize me? Did he nod at me? Emily Scott felt inexplicably restless in her heart.
The next day, Brian Clark had already started new training, with different content and in a different room.
Because it was the first day, Brian Clark’s movements were still very clumsy, but he was fully immersed in the training. Focused on his hard practice, Brian Clark didn’t notice at all that two uninvited guests had entered the room and had been watching him for quite a while.
Emily Scott was so shocked her mouth could fit a duck egg, staring blankly at the clumsy figure on the training field. Was this really the same YC who made her feel fear yesterday? If seeing him training in the basic training area had already surprised Emily Scott, then watching YC meticulously perform the training she had already done at eight or nine years old, and seeing his movements as awkward as someone learning for the first time, left Emily Scott utterly astonished!
Had he never learned the basics? If he had, why was he here? And why were his movements still so clumsy? If he hadn’t learned them, how did he manage that high-difficulty chaotic wave jump? Pure luck?
The only thing Emily Scott was sure of was that this was truly a strange guy!
Grace stared blankly at the blackbird absorbed in training, her bright eyes making it impossible to guess what she was thinking.
The two of them kept their eyes fixed on the meticulous figure on the field.
After a long while, Emily Scott snapped out of it and saw that her cousin Grace was still standing there motionless. She couldn’t help but ask, “Grace, why are you still here? Aren’t you training today?” Then she teased, “Don’t tell me you got scared yesterday? Not daring to train today?”
Grace seemed to come back to herself only then, her face flushing bright red as she stammered, “Ah… oh… I… I… I’ll start right away!”
With that, she clumsily piloted her blackbird and flew down.
Watching Grace’s blackbird wobble in the air, looking like it might fall at any moment, made Emily Scott break out in a cold sweat for her, but she still tried to reassure her: “Grace, don’t be afraid, it’s okay, I’m watching you!”
Once inside the training field, Grace looked around in confusion, at a loss for what to do.
Emily Scott noticed Grace wasn’t responding and asked in surprise, “Grace, what’s wrong?”
Grace answered with a sob in her voice, “Emily, what I learned yesterday… it seems… it seems… I’ve forgotten it all!”
Hearing this, Emily Scott froze, then couldn’t help but put her hand to her forehead, looking like she was about to faint.
Completely focused on working for his next meal, Brian Clark didn’t notice there were two more people in the room. If Emily Scott and Grace had come closer, they would definitely have heard Brian Clark muttering to himself, “I want to eat meat… I want to eat meat…”
Logan Carter’s requirements were truly harsh. Brian Clark could tell with just a thought that this was once again the limit of what his blackbird could achieve.
Brian Clark repeated the extremely dull and tedious training over and over, completely forgetting the passage of time. Only when Logan Carter reminded him that time was up did he realize his stomach was so hungry it felt like it was sticking to his back.
Brian Clark immediately exited.
Emily Scott and Grace stared in astonishment at the spot where Brian Clark’s figure had disappeared.
From then on, every day there were two figures on the stands of Brian Clark’s training field, watching him from afar.
Of course, Brian Clark noticed. Staying alert at all times, no matter when or where, had long become Brian Clark’s survival instinct. But those two mechas just sat there quietly watching, never disturbing him, having no effect on him at all, so Brian Clark simply ignored them. What Brian Clark couldn’t understand was, his training wasn’t anything advanced, and it was extremely boring—how could they not get tired of watching?
But, that had nothing to do with him, Brian Clark told himself. If he didn’t give it his all, he’d have to eat that tasteless, mud-like organic liquid food!
Brian Clark continued to train as always, and Emily Scott and Grace continued to watch as always. It was as if there was a tacit understanding between them—they never spoke to each other, at most just nodded occasionally.
Brian Clark’s real-world training had also made great progress. He could now persist for an hour and a half with ten steel balls, and his physical training had reached a new level. Brian Clark had a deep sense of his own improvement: his full-speed running was five times faster than before, his strength was seven times greater, and the speed of his hands was eleven times what it used to be. The only strange thing was that Brian Clark’s weight hadn’t increased noticeably, which even made Logan Carter click his tongue in amazement.
Now, even without piloting a mecha, Brian Clark could hunt some low-level mutant creatures, a testament to the strength of his body.
