Chapter 1: Starting Out as a God
……
“I am the God of Light!”
William Clark sat cross-legged in midair, overlooking the divine kingdom below his feet, his mood somewhat complicated.
As an ordinary young man from Earth, William Clark liked reading novels, playing games, and “enjoying” anime, so naturally he had fantasized about transmigrating to another world.
But William Clark never expected that he would actually obtain a divine kingdom and become the legendary “God of Light.”
When he first transmigrated, William Clark was, of course, extremely excited, because as the “God of Light”—often the big villain in many fantasy novels—he was incredibly powerful, with divine power that could do anything.
He ruled over multiple planes, commanded an army of millions of angels, and if he didn’t like someone, he could just beat them to death.
And as for him, William Clark, the great God of Light, the divine kingdom he resided in must be a magnificent, resplendent temple, with beautiful and noble angels flying about, and ethereal hymns echoing in the air.
And in the harem of that divine kingdom, he could gather beauties of all races—seductive, holy, noble, cold, intellectual, pure and cute—none could be left out.
Just thinking about such a scene made William Clark feel ecstatic.
Unfortunately!
Imagination is rich, but reality is harsh.
The divine kingdom William Clark inherited was not only nothing like the grand spectacle he imagined, but was instead a scene of utter ruin and devastation.
The statue of the God of Light, which should have stood tall and majestic in the center of the divine kingdom’s plaza, dozens of stories high, had already been broken in two. Its noble head was buried in a pile of rubble, covered in dust.
Behind the plaza, the once magnificent Temple of Light had also become a field of debris, with only one or two scattered columns stubbornly standing amidst the ruins, faintly hinting at its former grandeur and solemnity.
This dilapidated divine kingdom was like the once-glorious Old Summer Palace after being looted and burned by the Anglo-French Allied Forces—desolate and tragic.
What made William Clark’s heart shudder even more—
In the northwest of the divine kingdom, three huge gaping tears ran across the spatial crystal wall, as if some powerful beast had clawed it open. Eerie black light seeped from the claw marks, and cracks were slowly spreading across the crystal wall of the divine kingdom.
As time passed, the cracks grew wider and wider. Who knew when they would cover the entire sky? Once the spatial crystal wall of the divine kingdom collapsed, the dark energy from the endless void would pour in like a flood.
At that point, the fate of William Clark, this “great” God of Light, was easy to imagine.
“Sigh~” William Clark shivered, letting out a deep, stifled sigh.
He felt that there was probably no god in this world more miserable than him.
The divine kingdom? It was broken.
Angels? Beauties? There were none at all.
He didn’t even have a decent physical body—only a tattered wisp of a soul, as if a gust of wind could blow him away.
And because of his current existence as a soul form, he didn’t even need to walk anymore—he floated everywhere.
Floated!?
Can you imagine? He, the dignified God of Light, was reduced to drifting around like a ghost all day, not even as good as a person.
Forget it, no more. The more he said, the sadder it got.
William Clark couldn’t help but sigh again.
Letting his soul body continue to drift aimlessly through the divine kingdom, he focused his mind and activated his divinity.
“View divine kingdom information.”
In an instant, a string of information appeared in his consciousness.

There was quite a bit of information, but every single entry was marked with a glaring red warning. Just a glance was enough to make one’s heart race.
However, after nearly a year as the God of Light, William Clark was already used to it and didn’t react much.
His consciousness skimmed over line after line of information, but when he noticed the number of followers, his heart suddenly sank.
“View follower details.”
He spoke abruptly, and instantly, the line of information about followers was highlighted, then in the blink of an eye transformed into a new set of details.
Saint Spirits: 0
Saints: 0

There were only 316 shallow believers left!
William Clark remembered that when he checked yesterday, there were still 323 shallow believers. But in just one day, the number had plummeted by 7!
