Chapter 11

Over the years, people have gradually become accustomed to the existence of demons and monsters, and have also mastered some methods to deal with them.

The Brahmin master sent out a warning signal, and the caravan came to a halt. Caravans that travel frequently are already quite experienced in this regard. The warriors quickly gathered at the place where the demonic energy was strongest, waiting for the monsters to appear. In fact, for caravans, monsters are not the worst; the most terrifying are bandits. Many times, humans are even scarier than monsters.

Woodridge returned. Although he always longed for battle, he knew that his skills were only good enough to deliver messages; fighting monsters would only get in the way. Every time there was a fight, he got extremely excited.

“Owen, one day I will become a formidable warrior, a warrior recognized by the great King Garuda!”

Woodridge clenched his fists and stared nervously at the warriors ahead. If it weren’t for his father forbidding him, he would have rushed to the very front.

“Mm, you can do it.”

Looking up at the sky, Emily Owen frowned.

The warriors ahead were on high alert, as they too sensed the demonic energy—very strong demonic energy. A patch of darkness appeared in the sky, collapsing inward. The monsters had arrived!

The first to leap out were dozens of walking-class monsters. Most walking-class monsters were energy-based, feeding on human flesh and bone. The warriors formed an attack formation, and with a loud shout from the leader, they all charged forward. This level of monster was still no match for them.

The monsters had decent combat power, but unfortunately, they were rather stupid and fought individually, while the Bharata people excelled at group attacks. But just as the warriors charged forward, another gigantic monster appeared.

A shapeshifter-class monster!

A giant monster over ten meters tall—this kind of monster had a physical form, with terrifying offensive and defensive abilities. Although these giant monsters weren’t very intelligent, their destructive power was truly frightening.

As soon as it landed, the ground shook violently. It ignored the warriors and charged straight toward the center of the caravan. Killing and destruction were their purest pleasures.

The warriors immediately split into two groups: one to intercept the walking-class monsters, and the experts to attack the giant monster. If it broke into the caravan, the goods would be lost, and the whole trip would be for nothing. They were so close to their destination—this would be truly heartbreaking.

The warriors were quite experienced. You couldn’t fight a giant monster head-on; you had to attack its weak points with agility, usually the head. Several warriors at the Spirit Light level rushed forward, constantly harassing and slowing the giant monster’s advance, giving their companions a chance to attack. The archers were already channeling spiritual power into their arrows, aiming for a lethal shot. They were still observing—the place where the monster’s demonic energy was most concentrated was its heart, the source of its power. Calmness was an essential quality for an archer.

If the attack failed, a rampaging shapeshifter-class monster could destroy all the goods.

Aldrich's palms were slick with nervous sweat. Beside him, Owen seemed a bit impatient. He wanted to get moving, but the caravan had stopped. At that moment, Owen looked up—there was another one.

Yet another shapeshifter-class giant monster descended from the sky, crashing straight toward the center of the caravan. One shapeshifter-class monster was already the caravan’s limit; two were far beyond what they could handle. This was extremely rare—had their luck really run out?

The giant monster was crashing down right above Aldrich and Owen. Aldrich looked up at the monster, his face pale, even forgetting the agility and speed that the Garuda clan relied on for survival.

Chapter 9: The Unparalleled Beauty of the Kinnara Princess

Owen seemed stunned as well, staring blankly at the giant monster crashing down above them. Neither of them reacted, and no one could save them. The monster was about to crush them into meat paste—just one meter away—when suddenly, as if it had sensed something terrifying, it struggled and toppled to the side. Two carriages were instantly flattened, and the giant monster charged away in a frenzy.

Not toward them.

Aldrich stared wide-eyed in disbelief. Was he really that intimidating?

At that moment, a delicate shout sounded in his ear, followed by the whistling of something tearing through the air. Their savior had arrived!

It was a Kinnara patrol. To ensure the smooth running of the carnival, the Kinnara had dispatched a large number of warriors to maintain security. Although the caravan had been unlucky, they were now safe. Seeing the newcomers, everyone in the caravan was overjoyed.

A heroic young girl soared into the air, spiritual power exploding around her. She was at the Spirit Burst level. In an instant, three golden arrows were nocked, spiritual power focused, and they shot in a triangle formation at the charging giant monster.

Only then did Aldrich realize that the giant monster hadn’t been scared by their might, but had sensed a more powerful source of spiritual energy. For monsters, the stronger the spiritual energy, the more delicious it was, and it greatly helped them increase their own power.

The warriors who had followed the girl on the ground had already taken over the caravan’s defense. The regular army was indeed different—whether in the steadiness of their spiritual power control or the orderliness of their attacks, they showed absolute superiority. This was the unstoppable killing intent of the army.

The shapeshifter-class giant monster was very strong, but under so many spiritual attacks—especially from the archers, who quickly found its weak point—it was soon struck in its vital spot.
