Chapter 20

Owen didn’t seem very interested in them, barely joining in the group’s conversation. He just gazed at the crowds and scenery outside the carriage. It was so lively—completely different from the slaughter and cruelty of the demon realm. He really preferred it here; it was so comfortable.

“Brother Suo, I have an unreasonable request. Would you be willing to spar with me again in a bit?”

Mason Carter couldn’t help but speak up. He felt the other party wasn’t interested in fighting him, but he wanted a rematch so badly. No matter what, he had to fight again—he needed to understand exactly where he had lost.

“Sure.”

Owen withdrew his gaze from outside and replied.

Everyone was stunned. They’d expected him to decline or set some conditions, but Owen agreed readily, as if it were a trivial matter.

Old Man was racking his brains. In terms of strength, he wouldn’t claim to be the best in the world, but when it came to connections and experience, if he called himself second, no one would dare claim first. That butterfly-named guy was strange. If there was such an expert, he should remember, but no matter how hard he thought, he couldn’t figure it out.

The key point was, the other party could actually fool his eyes, which left Old Man a bit frustrated. But he really couldn’t see any trace of a master on him. No matter how well someone disguised themselves, at a certain level, everyone could more or less tell. The old generation was the same—after so many years, their eyes were sharp. This time, though, he’d misjudged.

“Owen, are you sure? The Yaksha clan is fierce. If you can’t do it, just refuse. True courage is knowing when to hold back.”

Aldrich was still uneasy. Looking at the frail Owen, then at the wolf-king-like Mason Carter, he felt a chill.

Thud...

Someone got a hard knock on the head. “Spineless! And you want to become a top master like this?”

Old Man scolded.

“Master, my courage is proportional to my strength. Even though I have you as my backer, you have to give me some time to let this uncut gem shine.”

Aldrich rubbed his head and said aggrievedly.

Grace Maxwell couldn’t help but laugh. This master and disciple really were a pair of characters.

Since ancient times, how many heroes have vied for a beauty’s smile? She truly was stunning. Even at her age, Princess Maxwell already had an unparalleled charm.

Even Mason Carter and Adrian were moved. In the future, countless young men would surely fall for the allure of the King of Kinnara. Sigh.

Owen, however, was very calm, as if he were simply admiring a beautiful view. Nothing special. It wasn’t an act or false aloofness—he was just used to it.

The Soul-Stealing King could transform into any beauty; Owen had seen too much. Beauty was certainly worthy of praise and admiration, but he preferred inner beauty. Only that could move him. And since he hadn’t interacted much with Grace Maxwell, there was no point in talking about good or bad feelings.

Grace Maxwell was still confident in her own charm. This was the first time she’d felt a setback, but she didn’t mind. What she valued was her singing, dancing, and martial arts, not her looks.

“Princess... Your Highness, thank you for saving my life.”

Aldrich stammered, finally managing to get the words out—only to get knocked on the head by Old Man again.

Grace Maxwell was taken aback, suddenly recalling the merchant caravan she’d saved. It seemed she really had rescued two young men. What a coincidence.

“Heh, if we go by what Brother Ye said, I was just being superfluous.”

Come on, someone who could defeat Mason Carter wouldn’t need anyone to save them. A mere shapeshifting demon could be crushed with a squeeze.

After Grace Maxwell said this, Old Man remembered too. So that giant demon really was scared off by this kid. Interesting, very interesting. Seeing Mason Carter get beaten up in person was truly one of life’s great pleasures.

If you can’t bully the father, bullying the son is pretty satisfying too. Haha.

As they chatted, the royal hunting grounds arrived.

Chapter 15: The Meeting of Two Heroes

Aldrich still couldn’t quite believe everything before his eyes. He’d been with Owen for some time, but now he saw Owen calmly standing opposite Mason Carter, empty-handed.

Mason Carter slowly drew his sword. Though it wasn’t the Yaksha clan’s greatest treasure, anything in Mason Carter’s hands was no ordinary weapon. To withstand the power of the Spirit-Attracting Realm, it had to be a masterwork.

The problem was, the one looking serious now wasn’t Owen, but Mason Carter. Even Aldrich could feel the burning, almost blazing fighting spirit radiating from Mason Carter.

Old Man had already noticed something. Too strange—he’d never encountered anything like this. Grace Maxwell also sensed something was off and was extremely surprised.

“Kid, watch closely. Fights like this are rare.”

Even though it was a battle between the younger generation, if it weren’t for Mason Carter, he wouldn’t even bother.

Grace Maxwell was already focusing her attention. This was extremely beneficial for her current situation, and she was eager to see the legendary Night Demon Heavenly Wolf Sword wielded by the Yaksha King. Of course, Mason Carter was still worlds apart from Logan Carter.

“Master, have you ever seen Logan Carter fight?”

“Of course! Back in the day, I was someone even the people of the underworld feared. But... Logan Carter is a freak, a madman. Best not to talk about him.”

“Could you beat Mason Carter?”
