Chapter 4

Although Sean Carter had no evidence whatsoever, he just had this feeling that this red button might be the key to this virtual space.

Raising his foot slightly, when Sean Carter's palm touched the red button, he finally felt a faint sense of fear. His hand seemed to tremble a little, but he still pressed down hard.

The next moment, the hall seemed to shake, and the chandelier began to tremble slowly, as if ripples were spreading out before him like waves on water, making it feel as if he were in a dreamlike realm.

Gradually, the scene before his eyes finally stabilized.

The original chandelier had disappeared, replaced by a child who looked exactly like him.

A crisp and clear voice, one that had accompanied him for nine years, suddenly rang out:

"Hello, welcome to the multifunctional learning hall."

Chapter Two: The Lost Data

"Hello," Sean Carter said instinctively.

But after he spoke, he realized that what stood before him was probably the intelligent system of this learning device.

He just didn't know why this intelligent system had taken on his own appearance.

A surge of excitement welled up in his heart. Although he didn't yet know how high this intelligent system's IQ was, just looking at the perfectly realistic skyscraper that gave no hint of being a virtual scene, he couldn't help but feel a strong sense of anticipation.

People living in the twenty-first century all know that the whole world is researching intelligent systems, but what has been developed so far are merely programs that simulate human thinking, which are actually very far from true intelligence. However, at this moment, the excited Sean Carter fervently hoped that this intelligent system's abilities could match the technology of this virtual scene.

"What would you like to learn?" The intelligent system opposite him wasted no time and got straight to the point.

After hearing this formulaic tone, Sean Carter's heart instantly sank. This was just a learning device, so it couldn't possibly have a highly advanced intelligent system, right? The thought made his mood become suppressed again.

"What can I learn here?"

"This is my skill tree. You can choose from it."

The child who looked just like Sean Carter waved his hand, and a small tree, not particularly large, grew out strangely beside him. The tree kept growing upward until it became a towering giant, far taller than himself.

On this tree, there were countless branches, each labeled with a line of Chinese characters. As the branches multiplied, they formed a magnificent and aesthetically pleasing skill tree.

On the first level of the skill tree were some basic subjects, such as "Basic Chemistry," "Basic Mathematics," "Basic English," and so on.

Each subject had countless small branches above it. Some of the branches gradually grew larger, shooting straight up to the sky. But most of the branches began to intertwine with each other.

Looking at this densely packed skill tree, Sean Carter was utterly shocked. What era's technological product was this? It really looked impressive.

A strong, indescribable desire suddenly surged in his heart—how wonderful it would be if he could master all this knowledge. But this thought only flashed through his mind for a moment before it was completely extinguished.

He was not someone with unrealistic ambitions; his more than thirty years of life experience in his previous life had made him understand all the ups and downs of the world. Now, his body and appearance were only that of a nine-year-old child. If he truly possessed such vast knowledge, he would appear to know everything about everything.

For someone his age to display such abilities, in a world that was not yet very open, he would more likely be regarded as a freak than a prodigy.

With a self-deprecating smile, he realized he was indeed hoping for too much.

He carefully searched through the skills. To be honest, things like basic mathematics and language—although he had learned them, after so many years, he had long since returned all that knowledge to the teacher.

Fortunately, some knowledge didn't require much in that regard. For example, "Basic Planting" on the third level.

The agricultural technology in this world was not very advanced. Even his father, Old Miller, who was one of the best farmers in the area, couldn't achieve very high crop yields.

If he could find one or two improved techniques here, it would surely be a great help to his family's current situation.

Although his ultimate goal was to leave here and enjoy the legendary life of the nobility, he knew even better that, for now, improving his family's living conditions was the most practical thing. And increasing agricultural output was definitely the least conspicuous way to do it.

"Hello, I would like to learn basic planting," Sean Carter said with a hint of nervousness.

"Basic Planting is a level-three subject. If you haven't passed the previous basic subjects, it is recommended that you do not study it."
