Chapter 10

Ethan Cooper felt a chill in his heart, but his hand was being held by Brian Lee, making it impossible for him to dodge. Moreover, the speed of that beam of light was so fast that he had no chance to evade it at all.

Countless rays of light rushed into Ethan Cooper's body, one after another. In the next moment, something miraculous happened.

Ethan Cooper suddenly felt his body become light as a feather, as if he had lost all weight, and it seemed that even a gentle breeze could carry him far away.

"Brother Xiao, let's go."

After saying this, Brian Lee the Daoist gripped Ethan Cooper's hand tightly and instantly moved forward like the wind.

He heard the wind whistling past his ears, and Ethan Cooper's heart was pounding rapidly, his emotions soaring. The thrill—absolute thrill—the rush from such speed was far beyond anything as childish as street racing.

He had no idea how long they had been running, but Ethan Cooper was certain they had already covered quite a distance.

They arrived at a mountain peak, atop which was a steep cliff. Brian Lee pulled Ethan Cooper straight toward the edge.

Ethan Cooper was terrified. He opened his mouth to speak, but a gust of wind rushed straight down his throat, stuffing his voice back inside.

Their speed was so great that if Ethan Cooper hadn't been wearing sunglasses, he wouldn't have been able to keep his eyes open.

They were about to reach the mountaintop, but instead of slowing down, Brian Lee actually sped up even more.

Ethan Cooper swung his arm with all his might, trying to break free from Brian Lee's grip. Although he didn't know what Brian Lee was up to, logically, he shouldn't be trying to harm him.

Still, without absolute certainty, he didn't want to take any risks.

Brian Lee's hand was like an iron shackle; no matter how Ethan Cooper struggled, it didn't budge in the slightest.

One step, two steps—they were already at the edge of the cliff. Brian Lee showed no sign of stopping, and one foot had already stepped out over the precipice.

Ethan Cooper's heart sank completely, but before he could even start to wail, the scene before his eyes suddenly changed.

Birdsong and the fragrance of flowers, a breathtaking sight. A vast meadow, green all year round, with fine and tender grass, and the lawn dotted with flowers—yellow, white, purple—like stars scattered across the sky.

The grassland sloped gently, the green grass filling his vision, leaving an even deeper impression in the spring and summer.

What a celestial abode this was.

It was the first time he had seen such a magical place, and Ethan Cooper was completely lost in it. He didn't know how much time had passed before he finally came to his senses. Looking up, he saw Brian Lee smiling at him.

He immediately understood that this Daoist had done it on purpose.

Ethan Cooper was astonished, unable to figure out why he would do this. The difference in strength between the two of them was like heaven and earth; if this Brian Lee Daoist had any ill intentions, he would have absolutely no way to resist.

Since that was the case, why go to all this trouble?

"Brother Xiao, this is the forbidden ground of our Secret Talisman Sect. Except for inner disciples and a few select outer disciples, no one can enter without my master's permission."

"Ah... then how was I able to come in?" Ethan Cooper asked casually.

But as soon as the words left his mouth, he immediately regretted it. He was already inside, so why say so much? If he made him angry, wouldn't he be asking for trouble? If things went badly, he might even lose his life, and that would be even more unjust than Dou E.

Brian Lee the Daoist was also taken aback. He gave an awkward smile and said, "Brother Xiao, you are naturally different."

But as for what was different, he didn't say a word.

He led Ethan Cooper to a house, clapped his hands, and two young Daoist boys immediately came forward.

Brian Lee pointed at Ethan Cooper and said, "This is my guest. Serve him well."

"Yes..." The two Daoist boys seemed quite afraid of him and immediately answered in unison, not daring to delay even a moment.

Brian Lee turned to Ethan Cooper with a beaming smile. "Brother Xiao, have a seat. If you need anything, just tell them to do it. If they slack off in any way, I'll break their legs for you later."

The two Daoist boys shuddered at the same time. Judging by their expressions, they had probably suffered this punishment more than once.

Chapter Seven The Elder

Brian Lee left the house, winding his way east and west until he reached a courtyard. He knocked in the air outside the door, then waited respectfully.

After a moment, the courtyard door opened by itself, though there was no wind. Brian Lee walked in as if he knew the place well, and the doors to the rooms inside were all wide open. He walked through without any obstacles.

In the last room sat an The Elder with snow-white hair and beard. His two white eyebrows were as thick as the God of Longevity's and hung down to his cheeks. It was as if, when he first shaved his face, he had accidentally shaved off both his eyebrows and beard at once. When he put them back on, he switched their places, so the thick beard was on his forehead, flourishing vigorously.

"Master, Senior Brother suddenly sent a layman up the mountain to deliver a message. It seems he is in trouble right now."

"Oh..."
