Chapter 3

There were a total of nine gray meditation cushions arranged around the bronze long table.

Brian Carter sat on the topmost gray cushion, while the other eight gray cushions, lined up on either side of the bronze long table, were all empty.

Chapter 2 Displeased with the Moon

In the ancient meeting room, only Brian Carter remained. There was a sense of desolation and emptiness.

"Where is this? Could it be virtual reality technology?"

Brian Carter forced himself to stay calm.

In his memory, this world was technologically advanced, with widespread use of virtual technology.

Brian Carter curiously pushed open the door and walked out of the ancient meeting room.

The view before him suddenly opened up.

Brian Carter stepped into an incredibly vast circular plaza; the meeting room he had just exited was one of many buildings surrounding the plaza.

He looked up.

The dome of the circular plaza was extremely high, so high at the center that its end could not be seen.

At the center of the plaza stood a sky-piercing giant tree, shrouded in multicolored clouds and mist. Its exact structure was unclear, and its width indiscernible, stretching toward the dome with an air of infinite height.

The enormous plaza was cold and deserted, with no sign of people.

"Codename 'Primal One' (Level 7) has entered the local channel of the main universe sector." A mechanical electronic voice sounded.

"Looks like this is a virtual online game. Is that the system prompt?"

Brian Carter revealed a knowing smile.

Hmm?

It seemed there was someone ahead.

Looking closely, it was a blond, white young man, about thirty-something years old.

As soon as Brian Carter's gaze fixed on him,

An interface immediately appeared above the blond youth's head.

[Codename: Trainee Star Officer]

[Level: 0, Reserve Member]

[Task Completion: 7/20 (Level 0 tasks)]

Strangely,

The blond youth stood in front of the giant tree. Even when Brian Carter walked up to him, he showed no reaction at all.

It was as if, in his eyes, Brian Carter was just a mass of air.

"Hey! Buddy."

Brian Carter tried to greet him.

"You... you..."

The blond youth rubbed his eyes. Suddenly seeing Brian Carter, his expression shifted from momentary confusion to deep shock and awe.

That change of expression was so realistic!

NPC?

Or a player?

"Sorry! It's my first time seeing the legendary 'Ruler.' I'm just too excited..."

The blond youth 'Junior Star Officer' was a bit incoherent.

From his perspective, Brian Carter had appeared out of thin air, shrouded in a mass of chaotic mist, his figure tall and imposing, exuding an ancient aura.

If it were an ordinary organization member, he would be able to see the codename.

But this person before him didn't even have a name displayed.

He guessed that if this Ruler didn't speak first, the two weren't even on the same level of existence; the Ruler could see him, but he couldn't see the Ruler.

Brian Carter looked thoughtful. "Junior Star Officer" was probably an NPC, responsible for guiding new players.

"Are you here to receive me?"

"Uh..."

Junior Star Officer was stumped, his mind racing, but in the end, he dared not lie.

"Reporting to the Ruler, I was just checking out a few star-level pieces of equipment through the sacred tree, but unfortunately, I didn't have enough points."

"Then I took a level 0 task to try to earn some points first. I don't know how long it will take to become a full member of the organization."

Junior Star Officer answered truthfully.

Equipment? Tasks?

Brian Carter became more certain that this was a virtual online game, and the token mark on his arm was the login device.

Truly some black technology.

"Let me take a look."

Brian Carter fixed his gaze on the sky-piercing giant tree in front of him.

A series of interfaces appeared.

The first option was the task system.

With a thought, he opened the task system.

"Ding! Honorable 'Primal One,' you are the organization’s highest authority and can issue official tasks to members across the heavens or within designated areas."

"Currently, you have one Level 1 task permission..."

"Issuing tasks to the heavens? That's quite a boast. This game shouldn't be so exaggerated."

Brian Carter muttered.

"Organization members are spread throughout the main universe and the heavens, possessing great power and influence. If you have any concerns or inconveniences, you can resolve them by issuing official tasks."

The mechanical electronic voice sounded again.

"Concerns? There are two moons on Sky Blue Star, and I don't like the look of them. If you're so awesome, get rid of one."

Brian Carter laughed, deliberately making things difficult.

"Sky Blue Star?"

The blond youth beside him, "Junior Star Officer," narrowed his eyes but dared not ask further.

He couldn't help but feel uneasy.

How did Sky Blue Star offend this big shot? The key point was, he himself was developing on Sky Blue Star.

"Destroying one moon of Sky Blue Star requires consuming one Level 1 task, with a reward starting at 10,000 points. It is recommended to issue the task in the Andromeda Galaxy of the main universe, estimated to be completed within ten minutes."

"Would you like to issue the task?"

"Issue it!"

Brian Carter wanted to see how this game would stir things up.

"Level 1 task 'Destroy one moon of Sky Blue Star' is being issued to all members below Level 2 in the Andromeda Galaxy. Target location is..."

A cold, indifferent voice echoed throughout the plaza.

Junior Star Officer also heard the task announcement.

"Oh no!"

The blond youth's expression changed dramatically. In a flash, he disappeared from the space.

"Boring."

Brian Carter shook his head, suddenly remembering that Grace Miller was still "warming the bed" for him, and he couldn't wait to exit this place.
