A week later, the college entrance exam would begin.
This was a reality that Brian Carter had to face.
Before that, if he couldn’t become a superhuman, or at least a superhuman candidate, he would have to attend an ordinary university.
Lunchtime.
Brian Carter’s mother, Julia Harris, came home, looking travel-worn.
Julia Harris was about thirty-seven or thirty-eight, with exquisite makeup, still graceful and charming. Her tall figure paired with a lady’s trench coat gave her an air of elegance and heroism.
The family gathered for a meal.
Although Brian Carter was not the original owner of this body, he still felt a touch of warmth.
During the meal, he tried to speak as little as possible.
On one hand, it was the caution of a transmigrator—too many words, too many mistakes.
On the other, Julia Harris had a strong presence at home, her radiant beauty dazzling; if you didn’t look closely, you’d think she was a single woman around thirty.
And since Brian Carter had been thirty years old in his previous life, facing such a young mother made him feel a bit awkward.
After the meal.
Brian Carter went straight to his room under the pretense of studying.
Julia Harris looked at his back, puzzled: “This child seems a bit guilty—did he do something wrong?”
As soon as he returned to his room,
the black-gold token mark on his left arm began to burn.
“Could it be?”
Brian Carter showed a look of joy and, with a thought, entered the Source Point Space.
“Ding, someone has responded to your purchase request!”
“‘Master Hill’ from the Wizard World (Energy Level 7) has sent a trade connection.”
Chapter 6: The Transaction
“Someone wants to trade, and they’re from a high-energy world?”
Brian Carter stepped into the Source Point Space.
A prompt popped up: “Connect to trade with codename ‘Master Hill’?”
Brian Carter didn’t confirm right away.
This trade was important; it wasn’t easy to find someone interested, so he wanted to hear The Prime Mind’s opinion.
“Fairness is one of the organization’s iron rules. All trades are impossible to fake.”
The Prime Mind paused.
Then, it actually gave Brian Carter some advice.
This was a perk for the organization’s big shots—borrowing The Mind’s analytical ability wasn’t too much, right?
“Connect.” Brian Carter confirmed.
His vision twisted, light and shadow swirling.
A peaceful old man with white eyebrows and long ears, dressed in plain clothes and barefoot, standing about two or three meters tall, appeared before Brian Carter.
[Codename: Master Hill]
[Level: Hidden]
[Mission: Hidden]
The old man with white eyebrows exuded the aura of a grandmaster, deep and vast. His information was hidden, probably because he spent points to activate the relevant function.
Master Hill also sized up Brian Carter.
He saw a handsome human youth, about sixteen or seventeen years old.
[Codename: Silent Moon]
[Level: Tier 1]
For this trade, Brian Carter followed The Prime Mind’s advice and used a different identity.
“Young friend, as far as I know, Tier 1 members in the main universe are not ordinary people.”
Master Hill smiled.
“At your level, you shouldn’t need to become a superhuman in a hurry.”
Brian Carter was prepared, putting on a wry smile.
“Master, you may not know, I became a Tier 1 member by inheriting a token by chance. I myself am not yet a superhuman.”
Master Hill looked enlightened and didn’t doubt him.
Membership in the organization could be inherited, though the method was unknown and often involved chance.
It was said that the successor’s permissions would drop by one level, and most of their currency would evaporate.
Brian Carter feigned urgency: “Master, would you be willing to help me become a superhuman?”
Master Hill said slowly, “You should know, 36 points are far from enough.”
“Then what should I do?” Brian Carter appeared a bit flustered.
“I am fond of doing good deeds, and I happen to have an excellent martial arts technique that needs a fated successor. I’ll let you have it for cheap.”
Master Hill took out a beast hide scroll.
Brian Carter’s eyes lit up, staring at the beast hide scroll, wondering what kind of powerful technique it was.
Master Hill thought for a moment, then said, “Alright! I’ll do a good deed to the end.”
“I also have a precious ‘Origin Foundation Stone’ here. It will greatly speed up your cultivation and help you quickly become a martial superhuman.”
He took out a green square stone the size of a meditation cushion.
“Thank you, Master.” Brian Carter said joyfully, full of gratitude.
He was about to take the beast hide scroll and the green stone.
“Wait!”
Master Hill’s expression turned serious: “Before the trade, I need to clarify two things.”
“Please go ahead, Master.”
“First, when cultivating the technique with the ‘Origin Foundation Stone,’ the stone will absorb cosmic energy and gradually grow stronger. I hope you will pass this technique on to more people in the future and spread it far and wide.”
Brian Carter asked in confusion, “Master, do you want to add this as a trade condition?”
“No need for that.” Master Hill appeared generous.
Brian Carter said, “Don’t worry, Master. I will do my best to spread this technique.”
Master Hill nodded approvingly.
“Second, these two items are worth thousands, and trading them for 36 points is basically giving them to you. The transaction fee will have to be paid by you.”
“Transaction fee? No problem!”
Brian Carter agreed readily.
Trades between organization members always incurred a fee.
The fee was usually 10% of the transaction amount.
But for trades across world energy levels, there were other calculation rules.
