A piercing engine roar sounded above the club.
What’s that noise!
Everyone frowned and looked out the window.
They saw a white hovercar, spewing flames, weaving back and forth above the club.
Whoosh!
The strong wind stirred up by the hovercar swept up a lot of debris on the grounds, and even some vehicles were affected.
What the hell!
Brian Carter couldn’t help but curse—his new car had a long scratch.
“Bastard, how dare you cause trouble at the club!”
People from the club came out, pointing at the hovercar and cursing.
“Who is that?”
“Looks like William Reed, the second young master of the Liu family.”
Vroom! Whoosh!
The white hovercar descended to just a few meters above everyone’s heads.
“Xiao Qian! You’re having a club dinner—why didn’t you invite me? Are you looking down on me, William Reed?”
The hovercar window rolled down, revealing a young face full of swagger.
Emily Clark said coldly, “William Reed! This is the vintage car club. You’re not a member, I have no obligation to invite you.”
“Vintage cars? Just outdated junk.”
William Reed said with disdain.
“Rich people play with hovercars and interstellar yachts. Aren’t you afraid you’ll lower your own status by hanging out with these people?”
“William Reed! Shut up!”
Emily Clark’s pretty face tightened as she scolded him.
“You think no one here can afford your flashy hovercar? Our vintage car club is about passion!”
Brian Carter looked at the flashy hovercar and thought to himself, I really can’t afford it.
Actually—
Quite a few people present looked at William Reed’s hovercar with a bit of envy.
A hovercar easily costs several million.
Many in the club might be able to buy one, but not necessarily afford to maintain it.
It’s like—
Would someone worth several million spend all their assets on a Rolls-Royce? And just for fun.
“What’s this William Reed’s background?” Brian Carter asked.
Someone nearby said, “I heard he’s pursuing Ms. Clark, and their families have been close for generations.”
“William Reed, you’re not welcome here. If you know what’s good for you, get lost.”
Emily Clark said angrily.
“If you want me to leave, that’s not impossible.”
William Reed had a mocking look.
“Interstellar law: winner takes all.”
“If any of your cars can beat mine, I’ll leave without another word!”
Hearing this, everyone in the club cursed under their breath.
This guy is shameless!
How could cars on the ground possibly beat a hovercar?
It’s like racing a van against a sports car.
Besides, everyone here plays with vintage cars, which aren’t as good as mainstream cars on the market.
“Can’t beat me, right? You’ll probably say I’m bullying you with my family background.”
William Reed clicked his tongue and laughed.
“Heh, aren’t you relying on your family’s money? Without your background, you’re nothing!”
Someone mocked.
“Well said! Then I won’t compare these material things—let’s shut you up first.”
William Reed clapped in approval.
“What do you want to compete in? Dare to go one-on-one?”
Harris stepped forward.
“Yeah! If you’ve got guts, go one-on-one.”
“If you don’t dare fight, then get lost!”
Everyone in the club was happy to see this, and had a lot of confidence in Harris.
Harris was a seasoned superhuman, had been a mage for two or three years, and had a high win rate in duels.
“You’re falling for it…”
Only Emily Clark looked anxious, stomping her foot.
“Let’s duel, then!”
William Reed revealed a triumphant smile.
The hovercar hovered a few meters above the ground.
Whoosh!
William Reed was as agile as a leopard, drifting down.
The two found an open space, stood twenty meters apart, facing off.
“Hmph! At this distance, I can win with a single strike before you even get close.”
Harris said confidently.
“Harris, don’t underestimate him…”
Emily Clark reminded.
Fireball!
A watermelon-sized fireball formed in Harris’s hand, turning into a streak of flame.
Thud!
The fireball hit William Reed’s body.
“Nothing special.”
Harris said with a victor’s air.
“Watch out!” the crowd cried out in alarm.
Crash!
The fireball only hit an afterimage, smashing a junk box behind.
William Reed’s limbs were long and lean, like a strong leopard, his speed beyond human limits.
The afterimage flickered.
He was already at Harris’s side. The twenty meters took just over a second.
Bang!
Harris was sent flying several meters by a punch, the sound of ribs breaking could be heard.
“Harris, are you okay?”
Everyone rushed over to help Harris with his injuries.
“What’s that guy’s profession, to be so fast?”
Brian Carter asked curiously.
“Enhancement-type ‘superhuman’, his talent is focused on speed and explosive power.”
Emily Clark explained.
Brian Carter understood.
Superhumans of the mage profession are fragile—if someone gets close, they’re at a big disadvantage.
And William Reed just happens to be a speed-type superhuman, much faster than martial artists of the same level, a perfect counter to early-stage mages.
“Pathetic.”
William Reed said lightly, as if he hadn’t even tried.
“Xiao Qian, today’s my birthday. It’s one thing if you don’t come.”
He looked at Emily Clark, his expression a bit indignant.
