Chapter 10

“What are you guys doing? I’m level 1! Level 1! Level 1!!!!” As Blaze shouted and emphasized repeatedly, his arms and legs were grabbed by others and he was lifted into the air. Someone shouted, “Hang him on that tree over there.” But was immediately overruled: “Just throw him in the river over there!”

Would falling into the river trigger PK protection? The official website didn’t say. Blaze panicked and struggled desperately. But even if he were a warrior instead of a mage, he wouldn’t have a chance in this situation. Blaze was like a sacrificial offering in an ancient tribe, being lifted high toward the sky. Looking down from above, he spotted Ryan Carter and immediately shouted, “Hey, you over there, save me!”

Ryan Carter nodded, quickly rushed forward, circled in front of the group, and blocked their way, saying, “Everyone, let’s talk this out. Put him down first.”

“Who are you! Get lost!” The crowd glanced at Ryan Carter, not taking him seriously at all. The game had only been open for a day; no matter how professional a player was, it was impossible to take on a crowd alone, especially since this guy was just a mage.

“He’s my friend, put me down now!” Blaze kept shouting.

“Friend? Then throw them both in the river!” Someone waved an arm, and several people charged at Ryan Carter.

Ryan Carter was taken aback—not only was Blaze under PK protection, but this group, still fighting for the lowest-level monsters outside the city gates, clearly couldn’t be above level 10 either. Under PK protection, fighting didn’t hurt, but if this group got close, he’d definitely be overpowered and unable to break free. Thinking of this, Ryan Carter quickly stepped forward, pushed off the ground, leaped up, twisted his body, and swept his left leg in an arc from right to left through the air.

“Thud! Thud! Thud!” Three consecutive sounds rang out as the three guys in front were swept to the ground by Ryan Carter’s flying kick.

The three of them sat side by side on the ground, looking at each other in confusion. Although it didn’t hurt, they could still feel the impact. It was like someone had gently brushed their faces, but the force was irresistible. This kind of bizarre event caused by the system settings was even more terrifying than pain, and the three just sat there, stunned and motionless.

The others saw even more clearly than the three involved—Ryan Carter’s clean and sharp flying kick left everyone baffled.

“What skill is that?” People asked each other.

“Do you know that move?” Someone asked the mage in their group.

“No, there’s no such move!”

“I don’t have it either!” All the players of various classes in the group checked their skill panels, but none found anything like “spinning kick” or “whirlwind leg.”

“What class is this guy?” People started doubting the mage robe in front of them. In a full-immersion game, equipment wasn’t restricted by class, so wearing a mage robe to hide your true class was perfectly reasonable.

“Hidden class?” Someone started to fantasize.

Everyone stared intently at Ryan Carter, while Blaze, still being held aloft, hadn’t seen the kick at all. He just felt the surroundings suddenly go quiet, and the people holding him up had turned into statues, steadily keeping him suspended in midair.

“What are you doing! Put me down!” Blaze shouted.

This shout snapped the dazed crowd back to reality, and without thinking, they let go. Blaze fell straight down, landing flat on the ground, and quickly cursed, “Damn!”

Ryan Carter ignored the others, walked into the crowd in a few steps, pulled Blaze up, and left.

The group looked at each other, but no one dared to stop them.

Chapter 6: A Mage Who Runs So Fast!

“Where are we going?” Seeing that they were getting farther and farther from Cloud City and the newbie leveling area at the city gate, Blaze couldn’t help but ask.

“There are too many people there, it’s impossible to level up. I’ll take you somewhere else,” Ryan Carter said.

“Where to?” Blaze looked around. The area was full of rolling hills, clearly different from the terrain outside the city. In the game, this meant they were already in a new leveling area.

Ryan Carter didn’t answer, just led him up a hill, pointed to a small pond at the bottom of the slope, and said, “Look, over there…” But when he turned around, Blaze was gone. Then he heard Blaze’s voice coming from his feet: “Damn! Get down! Do you want to die? We’ll be spotted.” Blaze was already lying flat on the slope, burying his head in the grass, crawling backward, and whispering to Ryan Carter with great effort.

“What are you doing?” Ryan Carter said, both annoyed and amused.

“Those are vagrants! Do you know what level those monsters are? You actually brought me here. I’d rather go back outside the city and fight over monsters with people!” Blaze said, having crawled half a meter back before daring to lift his head and speak.

“What’s the big deal? Just watch!” Ryan Carter smiled and lifted his mage robe with one hand.

“What are you doing!!” Blaze exclaimed in shock, but then saw Ryan Carter pull a dagger from under his robe.

“You’re… a rogue?” Blaze was stunned.

“Blaze!” Ryan Carter called.

“Yeah?” As Blaze responded, he saw a fireball ignite in front of Ryan Carter.

Equipment couldn’t prove your class, but skills absolutely couldn’t be faked—Ryan Carter was definitely a mage.

“A mage!” Blaze nodded. “Then why are you holding a dagger?”

“To fight monsters!” Ryan Carter said, then dashed down the slope.
