Chapter 4

In order to drive away these alien invaders, all sovereign nations on Earth united to resist, thus ushering in the nuclear age on Earth...

Blake Langley's thoughts seemed to drift in the air along with the gray dust. When a clap of thunder startled him awake once more, he had already made up his mind—he would never let such a thing happen again in this life. He was determined to find that flying saucer before Wade Sherman, whether to destroy it or to disappear with it forever, and would never allow the alien powerhouses to learn of Earth's existence.

Chapter Three: Blake Langley's Plan

When Blake Langley returned to the school gate, the city lights were just coming on. The darkness covered the gray sky, making everything seem somewhat beautiful.

He remembered that on this day in his previous life, the first thing he did upon returning was to inquire about everything related to Evan Sutton. In this life, he would never do such a foolish thing again. Compared to Evan Sutton's family background, he, Blake Langley, wasn't even as significant as a blade of grass by the roadside.

The Su family of Haiyang was one of the most influential families in Haiyang, and the Yan Hai Group belonged to the Su family. Evan Sutton was the direct granddaughter of the current head of the Su family, Samuel Sutton. No matter how you looked at it, he and Evan Sutton could never end up together. In fact, after Evan Sutton married him, she never had a single happy day.

In his previous life, even though he knew it was impossible to be with Evan Sutton, he still paid attention to her all the time. Although, in Blake Langley's view, he kept this affection buried deep in his heart, it wasn't long before the whole class knew that this nobody liked the most beautiful girl at Haiyang Medical University, Evan Sutton. The reason was that he talked in his sleep about wanting to marry Evan Sutton.

Fortunately, the classmates were decent enough; no one mocked him for it. A fair lady is a gentleman's desire—he wasn't the only one who liked Evan Sutton; he was just the most passionate one.

When Evan Sutton found out about this, she just laughed it off. There were plenty of people who liked her; one more Blake Langley didn't matter.

It wasn't until something happened later—Blake Langley was injured and hospitalized for her—that she began to take his feelings seriously. She then sought out Blake Langley and told him in person that she only saw him as a good classmate and friend, and asked him not to pin his hopes on her. She went to the hill to look for him because she was the class monitor; if it had been any other classmate feeling down, she would have gone to comfort them as well.

Thinking of this, Blake Langley, standing at the school gate, gave a self-mocking smile. To this day, he still didn't understand why, one day after graduation, Evan Sutton came to find him and asked him, "Blake Langley, does what you said before about marrying me still count?"

He thought Evan Sutton was joking, but she really did marry him. What puzzled Blake Langley even more was that after marrying him, Evan Sutton seemed to have no further connection with the powerful Su family. Even when she died, there was not a word from the Su family. She never explained why she left the Su family and came to a small county town to marry him, Blake Langley.

Blake Langley sighed. He knew in his heart that even until Evan Sutton's death, she never truly loved him. He and Evan Sutton were like countless poor couples, struggling at the bottom just to survive. Love was a luxury.

"Xiao Bu..." a delighted voice called out, and a boy in a brown jacket rushed over, slapping Blake Langley on the shoulder and pulling out seven or eight crumpled ten-yuan bills, shaking them. "Today is your birthday, so I've decided to treat you to a big meal."

"Chief, how come you have money to eat out?" Seeing his ordinary-looking, big-headed classmate again, Blake Langley was just as happy.

Blake Langley had two best friends—one was this big-headed guy in front of him, and the other was Gwen Grant. Gwen Grant was his childhood playmate, not particularly good at studying. Later, Blake Langley skipped a grade and got into the youth class at Haiyang Medical University, and Gwen Grant moved away from Tingjiang with his parents. After that, they lost contact.

The big-headed guy in front of him was named Zane Quinn, but Blake Langley usually called him Chief.

Seeing that Blake Langley was in a decent mood, Zane Quinn breathed a sigh of relief, gave him another hard slap on the back, and said, "Xiao Bu, don't let what happened today get to you. Dean Sykes is just as despicable as his name suggests—he bites at everyone. Just think of it as being bitten by a dog. Just remember, you're the most talented one in our class, while that old bastard is still in our class at his age—he might as well be a dog. Come on, it's your birthday today, forget about all that crap, let me help you celebrate."

Although Dean Sykes was a bit older, he was only 25. In Zane Quinn's eyes, the guy was already ancient.

"Alright, let's go." Blake Langley knew that this might be the last meal he would share with Zane Quinn. After this meal, he would devote all his time to searching for various martial arts techniques, then save up some money to go to Kunlun Mountain, hoping to get the flying saucer before anyone else discovered it.

As long as he got the flying saucer, he would leave Earth immediately. No matter what happened, he would never be like Wade Sherman, who brought some powerful beings from outer space back to Earth twenty years later. When he returned, it would only be because he had gained the necessary strength. If he didn't, he would take the flying saucer and remain in outer space forever.
