Chapter 7

"Which school did you graduate from?" the middle-aged man continued to ask.

"Tianjin University of Technology..." Blake Langley answered, then thought for a moment and added, "My name is Wade Sherman, I graduated from the Physics and Electronics major at Tianjin University of Technology."

Blake Langley felt that if he didn't make things clear, the other party would definitely keep asking. It was an instinct and experience, so he simply laid out his background plainly.

Wade Sherman was the one who, in the previous life, found the UFO, took it away from Earth, and ultimately attracted powerful outsiders, plunging Earth into disaster. Facing this rather hostile guy pretending to be Wade Sherman, Blake Langley felt not the slightest bit of guilt.

But after Blake Langley finished speaking, he was a little dazed. Wade Sherman was a Physics and Electronics major, but he himself was a medical major. If opening that UFO required knowledge of physics and electronics, then even if he found it, it would be useless.

Thinking of this, Blake Langley was startled. Whether or not the UFO required physics and electronics knowledge, he had to take this time to study.

The middle-aged man praised, "That's a good major, very nice. I have something here that probably requires knowledge of physics to fully research. It's no use to me. Since fate has brought us together, I'll give it to you."

As he spoke, the middle-aged man had already taken out an old-fashioned wooden box and handed it to Blake Langley.

What does this mean? A chance encounter and something like this happens? While Blake Langley was still puzzled, the middle-aged man had already stuffed the wooden box into Blake Langley's hands, then closed his eyes and said, "I'm going to take a nap, cough cough..."

Chapter 5: Looking for a Job

The wooden box felt a bit cold to the touch, and it seemed heavy, as if it contained many things. Its shape was like... like an ancient pavilion.

Just as Blake Langley was about to say something, the middle-aged man across from him suddenly stood up. He covered his mouth with his hand and coughed a few times. Judging by the way he left his seat, it seemed he was heading to the restroom.

"Wait, take out your ID and ticket for inspection." The middle-aged man had only walked two or three seats when a sudden voice stopped him. Blake Langley clearly saw the middle-aged man's body stiffen slightly. Before he could say anything, a pistol was already pressed against the man's waist.

They were two police officers. After one officer pressed the pistol against the middle-aged man, the other quickly took out handcuffs and cuffed him, then led him away.

Blake Langley calmly put the heavy wooden box into his bag, then packed up his own notebook as well.

At this moment, he already understood why the middle-aged man had asked about his background. This guy left the wooden box with him not to give it to him, but probably just for safekeeping for a while.

Most likely, as soon as the middle-aged man got out, the first thing he would do was find Blake Langley. Safekeeping it was fine, but Blake Langley suspected that if he returned the item to the man, his own life might not be safe—this person was shrouded in hostility.

As for whether the middle-aged man could get out, Blake Langley had no doubt at all. If the other party couldn't get out, he wouldn't have given the item to a stranger like him. And with how formidable the man was, even if the two police officers had guns, they probably couldn't keep him.

Unfortunately, no matter how hard this guy racked his brains, he would never have guessed that a student he met by chance would lie, and even he, an old hand, hadn't noticed Blake Langley was lying.

The train entered Xitan, a major station. Although it was still far from Tingjiang Station, Blake Langley didn't hesitate to get off, then switched to a bus, heading straight to Huzhou. He had no plans to go to Tingjiang for now.

After another day of travel, Blake Langley finally arrived in Huzhou. Huzhou was nearly two thousand kilometers from the Bin'an he had mentioned, and Blake Langley believed the middle-aged man wouldn't find him so quickly.

Housing prices in Huzhou only skyrocketed after the appearance of the UFO and the rise of the world's spiritual energy, but for now, the prices were still out of Blake Langley's reach.

Blake Langley rented a house in the suburbs, very cheap, with a small yard, only five hundred yuan a month. The landlord had moved to Huzhou city, leaving this house vacant.

After putting down his simple luggage, Blake Langley's first priority wasn't to go online to search for cultivation methods, but to take out that old-fashioned wooden box.

The wooden box wasn't large, only about the size of an adult's fist, shaped like a pavilion. Yet Blake Langley felt it weighed at least ten kilograms. It was icy cold to the touch, and its surface was covered with all kinds of carvings.

Blake Langley searched all around the box for a long time, but couldn't find a button to open it. This box was even more tightly sealed than a Luban box; at least a Luban box had seams to look for, but this box was a single piece. It made Blake Langley wonder if it was just a decorative item.

Since it wasn't his, Blake Langley didn't feel the least bit sorry. He put the box on the concrete floor and smashed it hard with a stone.

A dull thud sounded, but not even a scratch appeared on the box. The stone couldn't break it, and even a knife couldn't make a mark.

Blake Langley spent an hour or two fiddling with the box in the room, but could do nothing with it. Helpless, he could only put the box away again.
