David Carter was suddenly taken aback! This guy has a photographic memory! He can remember everyone in the hall, dozens of people? He could only chuckle and say, “You’ve got a sharp eye, brother. We all came out of the same newbie hall, so it’s fate that we meet.”
Blake Storm gripped his sword hilt and said coldly, “Now that you know my talent specialty, I must know yours, as well as your skills. I’ll be upfront—my skill is Basic Offense!”
(Note: Basic Offense—increases melee damage of hero’s troops by 10%)
Sigh, although it was a rather unpleasant request for David Carter, in this desperate situation, cooperation is still better than infighting! Most importantly, I can’t beat him!
David Carter quickly laughed and said, “Trash talent, not worth mentioning.” He then revealed his own specialty and skills.
Blake Storm said coldly, “I don’t take anyone with me!”
David Carter was instantly stunned: “Uh, brother, I never said I wanted you to take me. There’s just the two of us players here, it’s normal to look out for each other and cooperate, right?”
With a clang, Blake Storm drew his iron sword and pointed it at David Carter’s throat, laughing loudly: “Look out for each other? Cooperate? You, a trash spearman, are worthy? If it weren’t for your garbage talent not being worth the reputation loss of PK, I’d have chopped you up already. Every time I see you, I’d chop you, keep you in a weakened state for life, never to rise again!”
Damn, that’s blunt! What you fear is exactly what comes!
David Carter’s expression changed, and he said blankly, “Come on, brother, it’s our first time meeting in the game, there’s no deep grudge between us, is this necessary? Besides, brother, you’re a god-tier hero with a bright future ahead, why ruin the mood over such a trivial matter?”
Blake Storm laughed wildly: “I play games however I want, don’t like it? Chop me! The ones I distrust and hate most are players! Let me be clear, my god-tier hero account is worth millions the moment I open my mouth. When I get tired of killing, I’ll just sell the account, and a boss will immediately sail over to take it off my hands! Get it?”
Damn! Another one who thinks he can do whatever he wants in a game. People like this, just like I was back in the day, are impossible to deal with!
The new waves of the Yangtze push the old ones forward, huh? David Carter could only sigh, “Yeah, yeah, you’re awesome.”
Blake Storm said coldly, “This ship is my turf. Get lost!”
The old waves die on the beach, huh? David Carter helplessly raised his hands, backing away while sighing, “Alright, alright! I’ll go play somewhere else…”
Blake Storm said coldly, “At least you know your place!” With that, he turned arrogantly and waded toward the wrecked ship.
A million grass-mud horses galloped through David Carter’s heart! Karma! I can only endure and try to let it go. I have a career and a goal now, can’t mess around like I used to.
What now? There’s nothing on this godforsaken island, and now that jerk has taken over the wreck, I can only check out the sea. Back in the day, I was a master at surviving adversity—if I look carefully, there should still be a way out.
The island isn’t big, but the area near the shore is actually quite large. In the waist-deep, crystal-blue water, there were plenty of neutral yellow-named starfish, crabs, fish, and shells, but their stats couldn’t be checked. In Hero Continent, every new player can directly check the stats of any unit or monster published in the official data, but here, all these animals are a mystery.
David Carter went along killing starfish, sea cucumbers, and small fish, gaining no experience at all, but he did collect a lot of seafood. Well, at least it’s food. Every player starts with a week’s worth of water and rations, as well as fire-starting tools for cooking and camping. In the game, time passes at a 1:10 ratio to real life, meaning one day in-game is 2.4 hours in reality. If you run out of food and water, you’ll get hungry and lose stamina, and if it drops further, you’ll enter a weakened state. Of course, players are all heroes, children of destiny, so they won’t starve to death. If you take troops on an expedition, you must bring enough food, or else your army will desert or even disband.
But killing these little fish and shrimp for no experience isn’t going to work. That lobster’s pincers look terrifying, that turtle’s shell looks tough and not to be messed with, and that red name is… a sea snake! Damn, that thing’s huge—better stay away!
Finally, David Carter spotted a fish about half the size of a person, swimming leisurely. It didn’t look too fierce—maybe this one will give experience? Let’s go for it!
A flash of cold light, then the spear shot out like a dragon!
……
David Carter respawned in the coconut grove on the island, feeling dejected as he looked at his 10-minute weakened state! Spearmen really are fragile! Looking over at the wreck, he saw skeletons pouring out of the stern cabin onto the deck, with Blake Storm gleefully slaughtering them! David Carter was grinding his teeth in hatred!
As for why there are skeletons, isn’t it obvious? That’s what’s always in shipwrecks! And then there are treasure chests, and then the skeleton captain boss that drops artifacts, and so on!
Huh? With shields? Those aren’t ordinary skeletons! They’re the most elite skeleton warriors, famous for their defense among tier-one units, known as the nemesis of ranged troops! They’re a unit unique to NPC factions!
—Skeleton Warrior: Attack 2, Defense 6, Damage 1-3, HP 5, Attack Speed 10, Movement Speed 6, Leadership 1, Special Abilities: Large Shield, Hollow Skeleton, Undead, 10 experience per kill.
