Chapter 19

That afternoon, Jason Ford didn’t have much work, but to his surprise, he actually managed to sign up a new member.

It was a woman in her early thirties. Her looks barely scored a seventy out of a hundred, but she was extremely overweight. Her waist wasn’t too thick, but her legs were as big as elephant legs. She was about 1.65 meters tall, and her weight was definitely more than 165.

Chapter 10: Enemies Meet on a Narrow Road

The woman was a bit hesitant at first, but after Jason Ford persuaded her with a few words, she decisively made up her mind and directly bought a membership card worth thirty thousand.

Just this one deal would earn Jason Ford a commission of 2,400.

The woman also asked about personal trainers. When she heard he didn’t have a trainer’s certificate, disappointment was written all over her face. In the end, she even said, “Then next time, help me find a personal trainer.”

The other trainers nearby heard this, and their eyes turned green with envy. The commission for personal training was much higher than for signing up members, starting at ten percent.

As for signing up members, the commission started at three percent. This time, the woman bought a thirty-thousand card, so Jason Ford could get an eight percent commission.

If David Miller hadn’t just suffered a setback at Jason Ford’s hands, there definitely would have been trainers coming over to meddle in the rookie’s business.

Of course, now no one dared to do that. Everyone could only watch him with envy.

Jason Ford replied with a smile, “There are plenty of body-sculpting trainers, but not many who are truly skilled. I’ll keep an eye out for you.”

He said this to highlight how professional Hongjie Club was. The rookies usually said the same thing, so there shouldn’t have been any problem.

But the other trainers’ eyes turned blue with jealousy: Damn, it’s just body-sculpting—like nobody else can do it.

Everyone was frustrated inside, but they couldn’t make a fuss, let alone complain—such behavior was strictly forbidden by the club.

It was Paul Reed who came over, grinning cheekily, and said, “Jason Ford, you’re really charming, huh.”

Jason Ford shot him a glare and couldn’t be bothered to respond. But not long after, he quietly slipped into the staff locker room and stood in front of the mirror, examining himself carefully.

To be honest, he did feel that his appearance had changed a bit. He couldn’t quite put his finger on what exactly had changed, but… there was definitely a difference.

Could it be that his aura had changed? Was it that legendary “it’s all about the vibe”?

Anyway, he was quite satisfied with his transformation. He was taller and slimmer, the stubborn fat he used to struggle with was almost gone, and even his looks and temperament had improved.

If he kept working out for a while longer, he’d reach an even more perfect state.

The woman worked out on and off for two hours before being called away by a phone call. A few employees who were on good terms with Jason Ford gathered around, clamoring for him to treat them.

Jason Ford was usually pretty frugal, but he wasn’t stingy. He was just about to agree when he saw Paul Reed joining in the ruckus, and immediately lost interest.

  I’ll treat anyone but you!

So he smiled, raised his hand, and said, “Of course I’ll treat everyone, but today I want to buy a new phone… My current phone is really falling apart. Once I get my commission, I’ll definitely treat everyone.”

“You’re being stingy,” Paul Reed was the first to shout. That guy was just that annoying. “That’s thirty thousand, a commission of 2,400—how much could a meal cost?”

Jason Ford glanced at him calmly. “Just the money I’ve lost in the dorm is enough to treat everyone several times over.”

Paul Reed’s face instantly turned bright red. He exploded, “You… what do you mean by that?”

Jason Ford looked at him, turned, and walked out the door without answering.

But Paul Reed wouldn’t let it go. He hurried after him, reaching out to grab his shoulder. “Stop… Explain yourself.”

Jason Ford dodged, brushed his hand away, and turned to ask coldly, “I lost money in the dorm—don’t you know about that?”

Paul Reed’s face turned even redder. “Of course I know you lost money, but you’re saying it to me… what’s that supposed to mean?”

“I’m just saying I lost money… everyone knows,” Jason Ford spread his hands and said calmly. “I never said you did it, so why are you baring your teeth? Feeling guilty?”

After he lost his money, he’d asked around everywhere, so everyone knew about it. Paul Reed was the prime suspect, and everyone knew that too. No one could say Jason Ford was wrong for saying that.

Paul Reed could only swallow his anger and watch him leave. It wasn’t until Jason Ford walked out the main door that he stomped his foot and cursed, “Stingy, tight-fisted, and slanders people. Sharing a dorm with you is just bad luck for eight lifetimes.”

While he was busy trying to clear his name, Jason Ford had already returned to the dorm, packed up his things to get ready to move out, and then headed straight downstairs to the phone market.

He really did plan to buy a new phone. His old phone only had a few apps, and the worst part was, the custom phone had a version of WeChat that couldn’t be uninstalled, but there wasn’t enough memory to update it. It took at least half a minute to grab a red envelope, and if he wasn’t careful, the phone would crash.

As for 59tongcheng, Taotao.com, and the like—he didn’t even bother thinking about those.

He used to be reluctant to buy a new phone, and was afraid it would get stolen. But now his future looked bright, he wouldn’t be staying in the dorm much longer, and he’d just landed a big deal today—so why not buy a new phone?
