Chapter 10

“Ha ha, since a beautiful lady has invited me, it would be rude not to dance!” William Harris laughed loudly as he stood up. Since there was no way to avoid it, he might as well have some fun with this beauty—holding her by the waist should feel pretty nice.

Sneaking a glance, he saw a hint of triumphant cunning in Little James’s eyes. William Harris decided he would no longer be the low-key one; since he couldn’t dodge it, he might as well join in the fun with everyone.

Michael and Henry didn’t dance. If they really went to dance with the ladies in their arms, they were afraid Little James might have some opinion about it. The two of them now suspected that Little James was using the ladies to test them. All four sat on the sofa, one lady holding a microphone and singing, a lady sitting next to Henry White, and only Michael Reed’s eyes were fixed on Little James and William Harris.

There was a small room inside this karaoke room.

William Harris led Little James and danced toward that room.

Little James might also have wanted to better provoke the jealousy of Michael Reed and the others, so she followed William Harris in that direction. Little James’s dancing was quite good, and she coordinated well with William Harris. Of course, in such a small room, there wasn’t much technique to the dance—it was just slow movement, really, just both sides trying to find a bit of feeling.

The lady’s singing voice was very pleasant. As soon as William Harris led Little James into the room, he said,

“Tell me, what exactly are you up to?” William Harris suddenly whispered to Little James.

“Brother, why are you saying that? What do you mean?” Little James looked at William Harris pitifully.

“I’m telling you, no matter what you’re thinking, don’t take me for a fool. Do you really think no one can see through your little schemes? If you piss me off, you won’t get any benefit either.” William Harris pretended to be fierce.

Dropping her meek demeanor, Little James gave a slight smile and said, “I really didn’t expect it. Looks like you’re not stupid after all. Too bad you’ve now become the enemy of those two fools.”

“Is that so?” William Harris took out his phone from his jacket and said to Little James, “I’ve recorded what you just said in here. Want me to play it for those two?”

For the first time, Little James’s expression changed. Her eyes locked onto the phone, and her look at William Harris was full of hostility. She never expected William Harris to pull this move, and suddenly felt she’d lost control of the situation.

Instead, Little James pressed herself even closer to him, their bodies rubbing together a bit. William Harris said, “I don’t want trouble, but I’m not afraid of it either. I know you want to get rid of someone in the office. I have the same idea. Why don’t we form an alliance and take one out together?”

Staring hard at William Harris for a long time, Little James softly said, “I really didn’t realize you were this kind of person! Looks like I misjudged you.” As she spoke, she pulled her body slightly away from William Harris.

William Harris could only smile bitterly to himself. He’d always worked diligently, yet even a spot in the office to scrape by was being threatened. No wonder everyone thought he was easy to bully! It really proved the saying: “A kind person is bullied, a tame horse is ridden.”

“What’s on your phone can’t do anything to me. I have the secretary as my backer. At worst, I’ll let the secretary take advantage, and in the end, you’ll be the one who gets screwed.” Little James looked at William Harris with a half-smile, quickly recovering and counterattacking.

“Is that so? Then let the secretary take advantage.” William Harris acted indifferent.

“Take down David Carter.” Little James suddenly blurted out.

William Harris truly admired this woman—she was someone who could accomplish big things, ruthless and decisive. In just a short time, she’d already shown a kind of heartfelt sincerity, but who could know what she was really thinking? Still, he had to admit he admired her idea. Taking down David Carter had two benefits: first, it would naturally also get rid of Henry White, making everyone in the office safe; second, if David Carter fell, maybe the office director position would be up for grabs among the staff, giving everyone hope. Of course, even though Little James had just joined the office, who could say she didn’t have a chance? With the secretary’s support, she might even get promoted.

“Ha ha, don’t tell me you’ve never thought about it?”

“It’s not that I haven’t thought about it, it’s that I don’t have the strength.” William Harris knew this was no easy task.

“He has quite a few accounts that aren’t clear. You must have noticed.” Little James said softly.

“Ha ha, let’s sit down and discuss this matter in detail another time.” William Harris was in a great mood. Of course, when it came to this woman, he knew he had to stay on high alert—if he wasn’t careful, she might eat him alive.

After the two agreed to cooperate, it was as if they both breathed a sigh of relief. William suddenly felt as if, in enemy territory, he’d finally found an organization—at least he had an ally now. Even though this ally might shoot him in the back, it was still better than fighting alone.

Gradually, William Harris suddenly realized that the two of them were standing very close together, and Little James’s body was almost in his arms. Holding such a beautiful woman, it would be strange if he didn’t feel anything.

Little James also sensed the change in William Harris’s body at the same time. Her face flushed, and she pushed William Harris away a little.
