Chapter 2

Anderson Academy has a super senior who keeps repeating grades—everyone knows about it. It’s the most famous joke at Anderson Academy in recent years. Many people had planned to sneak a look, but never expected that the legendary super senior was actually the formidable-looking Jason Clark standing before them.

Knew it would be like this...

Jason Clark curled his lips. This kind of thing happened every year; he was long used to it. However, he glared menacingly at the sarcastic guy.

Your brother definitely didn’t tell you—he’s definitely been beaten up by me.

Jason Clark had already decided to teach this guy a lesson after class. Maybe he wouldn’t even wait that long...

Jason Clark narrowed his eyes and said sharply, “Who allowed you to slack off during class? Oh, I forgot to tell you, I’m Mr. Bennett’s teaching assistant, responsible for supervising your practice sessions. If anyone doesn’t train properly, I don’t mind letting them have some real combat. You—yes, you—want to come out and spar?”

Jason Clark pointed at the boy who had just made the sarcastic remark, his fist cracking menacingly.

The boy’s face instantly turned pale. Suddenly recalling Jason Clark’s notorious reputation, he immediately fell silent and obediently went to practice.

Seeing this, the other students hurriedly started practicing clumsily as well.

Just then, Mr. Bennett spoke up: “If you have any questions, feel free to ask Senior Jason Clark. Practice well, no slacking off. Jason Clark, make sure to supervise their training.”

“Yes!” Jason Clark replied loudly.

Mr. Bennett nodded in satisfaction and turned to leave.

No one dared to act out for the rest of the class, much to Jason Clark’s disappointment. He snorted and strode away.

As soon as class ended, the others immediately crowded around the boy from earlier.

“Come on, finish what you were saying.”

“Yeah, yeah...”

The boy immediately puffed up with pride: “This Senior Jason Clark is a legendary figure at Anderson. Anderson has only ever had students graduate early—who ever repeats a grade? But our Senior Jason Clark did, and not just once. Let me count... five years, five years! Imagine, staying at Anderson for five years—what does that mean? Absolutely unprecedented!”

“How could he stay so long?” someone couldn’t help but ask. “Even if you can’t get into a top school, it should be easy to get into an average one!”

The gossiping boy became even more animated: “Do you know why? Our Senior Jason Clark, in five years, hasn’t even mastered a single set of second-level martial skills, but he’s learned all the basic ones. These days, what use are basic martial skills? If you want to be a chef, you need at least second-level knife skills. To work at a high-end hotel, you also need to know palm techniques. To be a bartender at a nightclub, second-level hidden weapons is the minimum—if you don’t meet that, they won’t even look at you. Want to work at a star-rated hotel? The requirements are even higher: besides second-level hidden weapons, you need dual ice and fire attributes. So, what’s the point of basic martial skills? Even the worst schools require at least second-level martial skills.”

The gossiping boy looked even more pleased, putting on a professional air: “Everyone just needs to get familiar with the basic martial skills. The real path is to start training second-level martial skills as soon as possible. The top schools especially favor students who can master higher-level martial skills at a young age. If you can perfect second-level martial skills by fourteen, you can get into an average school. If you break through to third-level at fourteen, you can get into a decent academy. If you can perfect third-level martial skills at fourteen, you can get into a top school.”

“I think I’ve heard that too,” someone chimed in.

“But I’m only thirteen this year, and I want to get into a top school,” another person said worriedly.

“Stop dreaming. Be realistic—getting into a decent school is already good enough.”

Seeing everyone agree with him, the gossiping boy became even more smug: “Ha, but basic martial skills are still somewhat useful. If you don’t master them, you can’t train in second-level martial skills.”

Seeing how pleased he was, someone in the crowd couldn’t stand it and sneered, “Hey, but I heard our senior isn’t exactly a nice guy. You were so disrespectful to him today—better watch out, or he’ll come after you.”

The gossiping boy’s face changed instantly. Remembering Jason Clark’s unfriendly look earlier, he shivered inside.

The others grew even more curious, and someone quickly asked, “But doesn’t he only know basic martial skills? How can he be so tough?”

That student sneered, “You saw it just now—look at his build. He could take on three people at once, no problem. He’s a habitual fighter—if he doesn’t like someone, he’ll just start a fight. Except for Mr. Bennett, he doesn’t listen to any other teachers. He’s the school’s top bully, and plenty of strong students have suffered at his hands.”

“Really? He’s that fierce?” Many people looked skeptical.

“He’s got great physical strength and is ruthless—getting bloodied is nothing to him. There are plenty of people stronger than him, but no one fiercer. Now, the worst record our Senior Jason Clark has is both sides getting injured, and that’s against those ranked seniors.” The student warned, “You’d better not mess with him.”

Everyone shrank their necks, and many looked at the gossiping boy with sympathy. The gossiping boy’s face was already deathly pale.

The girls who had stars in their eyes earlier now lost all their sparkle. Some looked disdainful, some regretful, some disgusted, and they whispered among themselves.
