Chapter 18

Amory's strong body looked pitifully small beneath the towering trees. His mouth formed an O shape, muscles bulging all over, and with every step he sank deep into the mud. The massive canopy behind him was like a giant broom, forcibly sweeping out a broad path.

Even someone like Jason Clark, who had absolute confidence in his own strength, was left dumbfounded at the sight of such an inhuman brute.

Thud!

Charging up to Jason Clark, Amory threw the tree trunk from his shoulder onto the ground, making the earth beneath Jason Clark's feet tremble.

"Is that enough? Want me to get a few more?" Amory looked bursting with excess energy.

Jason Clark immediately made an extremely wise decision. He found a broken knife from the pile of odds and ends and handed it to Amory: "Chop them into planks."

"This thick will do." Jason Clark gestured, his expression solemn and serious. "This is a very practical form of training! The requirement is absolute precision."

"No problem!"

Amory's eyes lit up instantly. He snatched the broken knife and dashed toward the giant logs like the wind.

What a perfect human machine! Jason Clark thought with emotion, then buried himself back in his own work.

"Young people really are full of energy!"

Not far away, after sighing, Old Man Wright struggled to climb onto the old hammock under the shade of a tree and soon fell into a deep sleep.

Looking at the newly built wooden cabin before them, both Jason Clark and Amory were filled with a sense of accomplishment. The planks Amory had chopped were as smooth as if they’d been planed, and Jason Clark's carpentry skills were quite impressive as well. After a whole day of hard work, both of them were thoroughly exhausted.

"Let's rest." Jason Clark waved his hand and slipped into his own cabin.

Amory, yawning nonstop, tumbled into his own cabin and fell asleep.

Jason Clark didn’t go to sleep right away. He spread out a sheet of letter paper and began writing a letter to Ashley.

"Ashley: I transferred to a new school today. The new school is called Shakima Academy—pretty interesting, right? This school is full of the atmosphere of nature..."

Under the night sky, Old Man Wright opened his eyes beneath the hammock, glanced at the small cabin glowing with a dim orange light, a smile appearing at the corner of his mouth. His cloudy little eyes were unfathomably deep.

The night passed.

Early the next morning, Jason Clark woke up.

Although he was exhausted from the previous day, his regular lifestyle had set his biological clock, so he still got up on time. Next to the academy was a small creek; the icy water instantly woke him up.

"Young people really are full of energy!"

Old Man Wright's voice came from behind. Jason Clark didn’t even turn his head: "The principal is up this early too?"

"Ah, when you get old, your sleep just can’t compare to you young folks!" Old Man Wright said helplessly, then continued, "By the way, what kind of Soul General Card do you need?"

At the mention of Soul General Card, Jason Clark immediately perked up.

"Second tier will do. Hmm, let’s start with a fist technique."

Jason Clark's talent for cultivation was average, but maybe because he’d been fighting a lot lately, he found that punching people felt both satisfying and exhilarating.

"Fist technique, huh? Not many people study that. Let me see." Several bronze Soul General Cards suddenly appeared in Old Man Wright's hand, which he laid out in front of Jason Clark. "Here, these are all fist techniques. Pick one."

Jason Clark was overjoyed and hurriedly began picking through them one by one.

The bronze-tier Soul General Cards had a bronze-colored face, with a blurry human figure in the center, standing with fists clenched. The figure’s pose varied from card to card.

On the back of each card was an explanation about that particular Soul General Card.

When a martial artist mastered a certain martial skill, they could create a Soul General Card. The cards came in three grades: bronze, silver, and gold.

A Soul General Card contained the soul imprint of the martial artist, holding part of their understanding of the skill. The higher the grade, the more insight it contained. Bronze tier held thirty percent, silver sixty percent, and gold contained the full understanding.

Soul General Cards had two functions: one was to summon the Soul General for your use, the other was possession. When possessed by a Soul General Card, the information in the soul imprint would be received by the user.

Both summoning and possession had time limits.

At first, possession was just a combat method, but as people discovered that learning martial skills this way was much easier, Soul General Cards quickly became popular. Now, after thousands of years of development, the system had become vast and sophisticated.

Jason Clark picked up the cards one by one, carefully selecting.

[Thousand Whirlpool Fist]: Fists like whirlpools, spinning endlessly, leaving no gaps. Requires water-type true force to activate.

[Blazing Sun Fist]: Fists like the blazing sun, radiating with dazzling light, exuding overwhelming dominance. Requires fire-type true force to activate.

[Withered Wood Fist]: Fists like withered branches, overcoming skill with clumsiness, defending as offense. Requires wood-type true force to activate.

...

Seeing that these required five-element true force to activate, Jason Clark discarded them without hesitation. Soon, only two Soul General Cards remained in front of him.

[Flash Fist]: As fast as lightning, can be activated by any type of true force.

[Heavy Fist]: Powerful and forceful, breaking skill with strength, can be activated by any type of true force.

Thinking of a powerhouse like Amory beside him, Jason Clark decided to choose [Flash Fist].
