Chapter 18

He came here specifically to save Michael Bolton and the others. If he didn’t help, these people would undoubtedly die here. Although he had a grudge with Jason Carter, he had none with them.

Moreover, two vengeful ghosts had appeared in the ghost domain, and their level of terror was likely unimaginable.

Chapter 10: Life Countdown

“Everyone hold hands and follow me. Don’t get separated. I can get you out of this school building.”

“Michael Bolton, why are your hands so sweaty?” Brian Cooper asked.

Michael Bolton replied seriously, “Sweat? How could my hands be sweaty, Brian Cooper? You’re overthinking it. This is obviously urine, okay? Boy’s urine, for warding off evil. I just peed it not long ago, it’s still warm. Feel it again.”

As he spoke, he shamelessly smeared it on Brian Cooper’s hand.

“Damn, that’s disgusting.” Brian Cooper said, “Don’t hold my hand anymore, get away from me.”

“Don’t be like that. I don’t mind you, so why should you mind me? It’s just a bit of urine, what’s the big deal? Worst case, you can pee on me after we get out.” Michael Bolton said.

“Brian Cooper, do you really have a way to get us out of here?” Grace Parker asked from behind.

Brian Cooper led them down the stairs, showing no sign of being lost. He said, “Of course. I’ve more or less figured out this so-called ghost domain. It’s shrouded in darkness, and ordinary people who enter easily experience hallucinations. What you see may not be real, but there are still some things I don’t understand. If everything goes well, getting out of here shouldn’t be difficult... Stop, there’s something ahead.”

Suddenly, he shouted and immediately stopped.

At the stairwell on the first floor, he saw several classmates lost there. They stood motionless like wooden figures, their bodies straight and stiff.

These were the people who had left earlier with Jason Carter.

But only some of them remained here, not all.

“Is that John Grant?”

Brian Cooper’s expression changed as his gaze landed on a male classmate.

This John Grant was one of the culprits who, along with Jason Carter, Kevin Reed, and Ryan Morgan, had pushed him into the bathroom earlier.

“Jason Carter isn’t here, so does that mean these people were abandoned by Jason Carter?”

Brian Cooper frowned. “So Jason Carter is up to his old tricks again. He wants to use these people’s lives to stall the vengeful ghost.”

If that was the case, then it was truly karma.

He stepped forward and patted John Grant, intending to ask what was going on.

With his back to Brian Cooper, John Grant stood there stiffly, motionless. At this moment, he slowly turned his head. His body didn’t move, but his head twisted 180 degrees in a bizarre way, and his lifeless, ashen eyes stared numbly at Brian Cooper.

Brian Cooper was so startled he took several steps back.

Dead, he’s dead?

If he’s dead, then how can he still move?

Is he going to turn into a vengeful ghost too?

Brian Cooper was on high alert, his heart tightening with anxiety.

If a few more ghosts appeared, they’d really be finished.

But John Grant’s corpse just stood there without moving, only slowly turning his head back, then continuing to stand motionless with his back to everyone, just as before.

“No reaction... Looks like he’s not a threat for now.”

He observed for a moment and breathed a sigh of relief.

“Michael Bolton, this way. There’s something blocking the way ahead, let’s go around.” He then led the others around the corpses.

Since John Grant had ended up like this, Brian Cooper let go of his previous grudge against him.

Once a person dies, their debts are cleared.

But the real culprit was Jason Carter.

“Waga-ga~!”

Suddenly, a chilling shriek echoed through the stairwell. The eerie cry pierced through layers of darkness, ignoring the barriers of the ghost domain, and reached everyone’s ears.

“Wh-what was that sound? It’s like a baby crying, but not quite.” A classmate jumped in fright and asked, trembling.

Michael Bolton said, “Maybe it’s your mom calling you home for dinner.”

“Your mom calls like that. I bet it’s a ghost.”

“If you know, why even ask?”

Michael Bolton said, “If it’s not a ghost, is it a beauty asking you out? We’re in a horror movie right now, not at school.”

He was acting like a cranky old guy, snapping at anyone he saw.

“Don’t waste time, move! It’s the ghost infant, that thing is coming after us.” Brian Cooper’s face darkened as he spoke.

This was the ghost that had escaped from Eric Clark’s body, named the ghost infant.

Although its level of danger was unknown, it was definitely very dangerous.

“Damn, speak of the devil and it appears. Even a hanged man needs a breath.” Michael Bolton shuddered all over in fear and hurriedly ran.

Everyone sped up, and under Brian Cooper’s lead, they left the school building as fast as they could.

After finally escaping the endless, maze-like stairs, the remaining people could see hope right in front of them.

But at that moment—

A baby, its whole body bluish-black, crawled rapidly along the wall at a terrifying and unnatural speed, just like a spider.

Its pair of pitch-black, round eyes stared at everyone, with not a trace of human emotion in them—only a strange, lifeless eeriness.

It seemed to recognize Brian Cooper at the front. Suddenly, it let out a shrill cry and reached out its arm to grab at Brian Cooper.
