Chapter 19

The slender baby’s arm was eerily stretched out, groping quickly through the darkness.

Walking in front, Brian Cooper didn’t notice this at all.

Suddenly.

Brian Cooper abruptly felt a wave of chilling air rapidly approaching from behind. This sensation... was exactly the same as when he was attacked by that ghost in the bathroom.

He was just about to turn his head, but at that moment, he suddenly felt a sharp, intense pain at the back of his head. The skin and flesh on his occiput were forcibly torn open, and a blood-red eye spun a few times before suddenly revealing itself.

“Ah~!”

The pain made him stop in his tracks, grabbing the wall beside him to keep from falling.

A strange cry rang out, and the baby’s arm that had come all the way through the darkness suddenly stopped behind him.

A red eye appeared on the back of Brian Cooper’s head, staring fixedly at the baby’s outstretched hand. The eye emitted a faint red glow, as if it was stopping the attack.

The ghost baby’s head twisted halfway around, looking at Brian Cooper in a bizarre way. The elongated arm slowly retracted.

“Brian Cooper, why did you stop?” someone asked.

The pain gradually faded. Brian Cooper caught his breath and said, “No, it’s nothing. I was just attacked by that ghost baby, but luckily I’m fine.”

He instinctively touched the back of his head.

A chill ran through his heart.

He felt an eye.

The view from behind was transmitted into his mind, and now he could see what was happening behind him.

“Was it this thing that saved me?”

Brian Cooper recalled what Eric Clark had said earlier and thought to himself, “This eye is also a ghost. Under constant stimulation, it will gradually revive. Once it reaches a certain limit, I’ll be killed by this ghost, just like Eric Clark...”

Is this what they call a ghost tamer?

A person harnessing the power of an evil spirit.

And also being harnessed by the evil spirit.

A bitter smile appeared at the corner of Brian Cooper’s mouth. What is this, really?

The price of gaining the ghost’s power

Or a countdown to death.

The ghost baby’s attack on Brian Cooper failed. It didn’t seem to give up, but instead quickly crawled down the stairs at an inhuman, bizarre speed. Finally, it leapt up from the floor and suddenly grabbed a female classmate from behind, its two slender arms wrapping around her neck, its whole

body hanging from her.

The girl’s eyes immediately widened in terror. She screamed frantically, grabbing at the arms strangling her neck, trying desperately to shake the ghost baby off.

“Olivia Miller, are you... are you okay?”

The nearby classmates were terrified, hurriedly picking up their phones to shine the light on Olivia Miller.

Under the light, a baby’s head cocked at an odd angle stared at everyone. Its slender arms possessed a strength far beyond that of a normal person, strangling Olivia Miller’s neck as if to break it. Olivia Miller couldn’t even speak at this point. She tilted her head back, nearly suffocating, her face flushed red in pain. And, bizarrely, as the baby’s skin touched Olivia Miller, their flesh actually began to stick together.

Chapter 11: Gradual Awakening

Under the dim light, they saw a baby with a bluish-black body clinging to Olivia Miller, its pitch-black eyes sizing them up. At that moment, everyone’s hearts were nearly scared to the point of collapse.

“Ah~!”

Everyone screamed, their fear erupting completely, and instinctively fled from Olivia Miller’s side.

“Damn it, since this ghost baby can’t attack me, it’s turned to attack someone else?” Brian Cooper clenched his fists tightly, feeling a deep sense of helplessness.

He wanted to save her, but didn’t dare get close.

The eye on his body could only see through the darkness of the ghost domain. Even self-preservation was just an instinctive reaction; he had no means to deal with this ghost baby.

“Let’s go.”

Gritting his teeth, he almost instinctively wanted to run.

“Guh, guh... help, help me...”

At this moment, Olivia Miller’s face was full of pain. She looked like a dying fish, mouth open, her hand struggling to reach out to Brian Cooper, as if that was her last hope, desperately making a plea for help.

Although Brian Cooper didn’t turn around, the eye on the back of his head saw this scene.

He saw his classmate Olivia Miller’s pained, pleading expression, and instinctively stopped in his tracks.

This scene was so similar to when Jason Carter pushed him into the bathroom before.

Olivia Miller hadn’t lost consciousness yet. Though she was terrified, in her moment of despair she desperately hoped someone would help her.

“If I leave now, how am I any different from Jason Carter? Using a classmate’s life to stall the ghost, just to save myself?”

Brian Cooper struggled internally: “Olivia Miller is different from Kevin Reed and Ryan Morgan. Kevin Reed and Ryan Morgan deserved to die—who told them to try to kill me just to save themselves?”

“And now, I should count as a ghost tamer too. I have the power of a ghost, I’m no longer an ordinary person. Saving someone doesn’t necessarily mean I’ll die.”

In an instant, countless thoughts flashed through his mind.

The ghost eye on the back of his head kept watching Olivia Miller, watching her pained, struggling face, and her gradually drooping arm.

If he didn’t act soon, Olivia Miller would definitely be strangled to death by the ghost baby.

“Damn it.”
