The woman sat on the ground, watching helplessly as the motorcycle sped away in the blink of an eye. Even though she knew her arm strength was limited and there was no way she could hit the bag snatcher, she still felt unwilling to give up. She grabbed her crystal sandal and hurled it fiercely in the direction the motorcycle had gone.
Unexpectedly, just as the woman threw her crystal sandal, the motorcycle in the distance suddenly crashed to the ground with a loud bang, and the bag snatcher was pinned underneath it.
“No way? Did I actually hit him?” The woman’s eyes widened in disbelief. That was at least forty or fifty meters away!
While the woman was still in shock, Jack Carter strolled over leisurely. He first picked up his own shoulder bag, which he had casually tossed aside earlier, and dusted it off. Then he picked up the woman’s bag, and after that, he squatted down and deftly fished a wallet out of the thief’s pocket.
“No way, is this all?” Jack Carter flipped through the wallet and, seeing only fifty yuan inside, couldn’t help but roll his eyes.
He had been planning to rob the robber, just to help himself out in a pinch! Who would have thought that this guy, who at least owned a motorcycle and was in a “profitable” line of work, actually had less money in his pocket than an unemployed drifter like himself.
Still, even a little is better than nothing, and fifty yuan was a “fortune” compared to his current net worth. So, despite rolling his eyes, Jack Carter didn’t hesitate at all as he pocketed the money.
Who told this guy to be so blind as to commit a robbery right in front of him!
The bag snatcher, seeing himself being robbed in turn, and not only that, but the other party even openly complaining about how little he had, felt so aggrieved and frustrated that he wanted to burst into tears.
If I had a wad of cash in my pocket, would I risk my neck doing this kind of business?
But the thing thieves and robbers fear most is being caught red-handed in broad daylight. Now, pinned under the motorcycle, the thief didn’t dare provoke Jack Carter. Watching Jack Carter take the money from his wallet with a look of disdain, the thief reached for the gold necklace around his neck and pleaded with a miserable face, “Bro, I’ve got a gold necklace on my neck, it weighs two taels, it’s worth something. Please, be generous and don’t call the police! I swear I’ll never do this again. I really have no choice, I’ve got a family to feed, it’s this damn life that forced me into this!”
“Come on, a two-tael brass necklace isn’t worth crap!” Jack Carter hadn’t planned to call the police anyway, but seeing the thief try to fool him with a “gold necklace” made him a bit annoyed, so he smacked the thief on the head with his job application documents.
The thief was dumbfounded at this. Of course he knew the necklace was fake, but he hadn’t expected this young man to see through it at a glance.
Seeing the thief’s stunned face, Jack Carter curled his lip in disdain. He thought to himself, after all, he was a shaman who knew a bit about divination, geomancy, medicine, exorcism, pest control, and communicating with the spirits of heaven and earth. If he couldn’t even tell the difference between gold and brass, all his years of training would have been for nothing. It was just a pity that his state of mind was far below his current level of cultivation. His master was worried that if he used his skills to make money and gain power at such a young age, he wouldn’t be able to control his heart and would go astray, bringing disaster to the country and the people. Otherwise, why would he need to look for a job and earn money so honestly? He would have made a fortune long ago.
Thinking this, Jack Carter couldn’t help but feel a bit stifled. He tapped the thief on the head again with his job application documents and said, “If I catch you snatching bags again, it won’t be this easy for you!”
With that, Jack Carter straightened up and turned to walk toward the woman who had her bag stolen, while the thief hurriedly got up, jumped on his motorcycle, and fled.
By now, the woman had already gotten up from the ground and was bending over to pick up the crystal sandal she had thrown. Her chest was full and, as she bent over, her neckline was pulled open, revealing a large expanse of creamy white skin. The sight made Jack Carter, a young man fresh out of vocational school, feel his heart race and his mouth go dry.
But the woman quickly picked up her crystal sandal, slipped it onto her foot, and stood up straight. Jack Carter secretly breathed a sigh of relief, though he also felt a slight sense of loss.
Seeing Jack Carter walking toward her with her bag in hand, the woman felt a surge of excitement. After putting on her crystal sandal, she immediately stepped toward Jack Carter, momentarily forgetting that her ankle was still injured. It had been a bit better when she was barefoot, but now, with the heeled sandal on, the pressure on her ankle was different. As she took a big step, a sharp, stabbing pain shot from her left foot up to her brain, making her cry out “Ouch!” and fall back down onto the ground.
Earlier, when the woman had fallen, the distance was far and Jack Carter’s attention was mainly on the thief, so he hadn’t noticed much. But now, with the woman right in front of him, legs spread on the ground, a swath of pale skin was exposed, and from Jack Carter’s angle, he could easily catch a glimpse of the scenery beneath her skirt.
Red lace trim, sheer fabric—just one glance was enough to make Jack Carter, a young man fresh out of school, feel his blood race.
