Chapter 7

Seeing that it was actually Robert Grant who personally came to pick him up, Jason Carter nodded to himself—this Robert Grant really was a loyal guy.

After getting into the car, Robert Grant laughed heartily and said, “You’re finally out! Let’s eat first, and after that, I’ll take you out for some real fun.”

At this point, seeing that Jason Carter was carrying a basket, he laughed and said, “Why did you bring that along?”

“I was able to get out this time thanks to a few big brothers. There’s some good liquor at home, so I brought it especially for everyone to try.”

Robert Grant burst out laughing and said, “Great! Old Webb loves good liquor. As long as I let him know, he’ll be here in no time.” As he spoke, he picked up his phone and started calling people.

After making a few calls, Robert Grant laughed and said, “Alright, everyone heard you’re out and they all want to come. Let’s go wait for them.”

“Alright.”

Being able to see friends from prison, Jason Carter was naturally happy.

“Old Clark, we’ll eat at your place today.”

As soon as the car stopped, the two of them saw a middle-aged man coming to greet them.

“Brother Clark.”

“Xiaofei, hey, it’s good you’re out, really good!”

Brother Clark, whose name is Edward Clark, used to be a civil servant. To help his younger brother pay off debts, he embezzled public funds and ended up in prison. Jason Carter was able to get out so quickly this time thanks in no small part to his efforts, and Jason Carter was truly grateful to him.

After the three of them entered the luxurious restaurant, Robert Grant laughed and said, “Your business is getting bigger and bigger, not bad!”

“It’s alright, it’s alright.”

Edward Clark smiled.

At this moment, a young man walked in from outside, just a bit older than Jason Carter, and he had a glamorous, bejeweled beauty on his arm.

“Xiaofei!”

As he spoke, the young man was already smiling and walking toward Jason Carter.

“Brother Cooper.”

The two shook hands and hugged.

“This is my brother.” Steven Cooper said to the beauty beside him.

The beauty, however, didn’t seem enthusiastic. She just gave Jason Carter a scrutinizing look.

“Smack!”

Just then, Steven Cooper slapped the woman across the face and cursed, “What kind of look is that at my brother, you bitch? I’m introducing you to my brother as a favor to you, and you dare look at him like that? Get lost!”

As he spoke, he moved to hit her again.

Jason Carter said, half laughing, half crying, “Uh, is this… sister-in-law?”

“She’s not worthy!”

Then, looking at the woman, he said, “Get out, don’t bother us brothers while we eat.”

The woman, now terrified, ran out.

Robert Grant laughed and said, “You brat, still the same bad temper!”

Edward Clark also smiled wryly, “You…”

“Forget it. If it weren’t for Xiaofei, I, Steven Cooper, would have died in there long ago!”

Jason Carter recalled how there were factions in prison, with everyone scheming against each other. Once, Steven Cooper got into a conflict with someone, and if Jason Carter hadn’t risked his life to protect him, Steven Cooper would have at least lost a leg, if not his life.

This Steven Cooper was no ordinary person—his father was now a deputy county chief, a man of power and influence.

“Xiaofei, I had someone look into your case and even found some witnesses. You really did take the fall for someone else; this matter had little to do with you. I’ve looked into it—you helped that woman, but now she’s with someone else!” Steven Cooper was quite capable, having dug up Jason Carter’s case for another look.

Edward Clark said, “The key to this matter is still Xiaofei. If you want to overturn it, it’s not impossible. I’ve looked into it—the Zheng family isn’t exactly upstanding. His father didn’t help your dad as promised, and he himself even slept with the girl you were helping.”

“Let’s ruin them!”

Steven Cooper said in a low voice.

Jason Carter sighed and said, “Forget it. My dad really needed the money at the time. Without it, his surgery couldn’t have happened. It was a mutual agreement.”

“Even so, the Zheng family didn’t keep their promise. Xiaofei, don’t worry about it. I have to help you. That little factory of theirs isn’t even worth my attention. I’ll make sure they learn what justice is!” Robert Grant snorted.

After chatting for a while, everyone sat down.

At that moment, a middle-aged man hurried in and said, “Sorry I’m late!”

“Old Webb, you didn’t run faster when you heard there was liquor?” Robert Grant laughed heartily.

When Jason Carter saw it was his prison friend George Webb, he quickly greeted him.

“Where’s the liquor? Let me see it first.”

George Webb immediately asked about the liquor.

Everyone laughed at his eagerness.

Chapter 6: Good Liquor

As soon as the jar was opened, a special fragrance wafted out. The few people who hadn’t noticed it before all took a deep sniff.

“What kind of liquor is this? Smells so good! I have to drink more today!”

Steven Cooper, who had tasted plenty of fine liquor, rushed straight to the jar.

“Not bad, it really does smell great!” Edward Clark also praised.
