Chapter 16

Actually, she was nothing more than a woman.

Calm and composed, she closed her eyes and pondered for a moment. A melody, born from her heart, flowed like a stream, carrying a coolness that gently and continuously permeated her entire being, subtly spreading through every nerve, as if every cell in her body was cheering with joy.

Her skin was cool and free of sweat, soft and smooth, with a faint fragrance. Her eyes were like an autumn lake, shimmering with ripples, deep and unfathomable.

She opened her personal portable computer, and a message appeared on the screen.

“Hmm, is today’s task to supervise the exam?”

Although they had the power of technology, the school still kept invigilators. After all, it was not only tradition, but also because computers and tools were not omnipotent—there were many things where they could not match the initiative of humans.

Nowadays, all the mentors had their own work, so how could they take on this task? That’s why the student council officers had to shoulder this responsibility, working together with the electronic control system to supervise.

She drank some juice and ate a bit of pastry, which counted as breakfast, then opened the door and left.

The school occupied this hilly area, only about three hundred meters high, but with overlapping ridges and occasional street lamps. At this time, students were coming and going in small groups.

The trees provided ample shade, and the winding paths in the woods were laid out with pleasing variety. Occasionally, some students were already out for morning reading, and her mood gradually settled into calm.

It was nothing more than a breakup—no matter how complicated the reason, why should she let it make her unhappy?

Passing through the garden area and entering the teaching zone, she greeted the classmates she met along the way, and nodded in return to their greetings.

Teaching Building No. 5 had six floors. She entered the building and went straight to the student council meeting room.

Upon entering the meeting room, she found that most of the members had already arrived. Each wore a badge on their chest, which was also a symbol of status, allowing them access to many areas that ordinary students could not enter.

In the room, a dozen or so young men and women were gathered together. Hearing the door open, they all turned their heads and nodded politely, but no one said anything—only her good friend Pearl Howard smiled and said, “You’re here!”

She had short hair, but was very cute, with a meaningful expression on her face.

Olivia Harris frowned slightly, giving her a playful glare, then addressed the young man in the center seat: “President, I’m late.”

“No, there are still ten minutes until eight o’clock. You’re not late.” The president smiled.

Seeing his calm and unhurried demeanor, so composed and at ease, one couldn’t help but be impressed. He already had a bit of a leader’s bearing.

Olivia Harris nodded, a trace of regret surfacing in her heart.

Even with cultivation, how many people could truly break through the limits of individual strength? In the face of technology, personal martial arts were insignificant—unless there was a legendary qualitative breakthrough.

As for the spiritual realm, even if one’s mind and strategy were extraordinary, even if one had achieved supernatural abilities, in an era where the people were enlightened and the pursuit of individuality had become mainstream, there was still a sense of powerlessness.

For example, at this moment, the student council members showed a certain respect, but who didn’t have their own plans?

This thought flashed through her mind and was gone, as everyone listened to the president speak: “For this exam, our school can only host exams up to level three, but there are already sixty-two students here preparing for the level four exam, so the government will be sending personnel.”

No one spoke for a moment. After a few seconds of silence, someone said, “That’s great—more and more students are achieving success these days.”

“President, to receive those personnel, not only do we need to assign mentors, but you’ll have to accompany them personally, right?”

“That’s right. There are many things I still need to arrange. What do you all think about holding the level four exam in Xuanming Building?”

“Xuanming Building is good—the equipment is relatively advanced. I believe it should be a suitable location,” said a girl. She was Emily Bolton, also a student council member. Because she admired the president, she was always the first to support his opinions.

On this issue, no one had any objections, so the discussion moved on.

The meeting wasn’t long. Half an hour later, Olivia Harris was assigned to supervise exam room 315. The time was almost up, so after signing the meeting record, she left the room.

The exam room here was actually quite similar to those on Earth. The only difference was that the supervisor’s platform—or podium—was a raised platform, surrounded by seats, giving a commanding view.

In fact, specialized electronic eyes could basically eliminate the possibility of cheating, but machines were still just machines. If there was no one in charge, tools could be used to outsmart other tools, so invigilators were still needed to supervise.

Once the candidates had entered, Olivia Harris stepped forward.

“Oh… it’s the beautiful Olivia here to supervise the exam!” one of the candidates said excitedly.

Hearing this, Sean Foster looked up, his eyes lighting up. At this moment, she was sitting at the invigilator’s desk, which naturally had more than twenty small electronic screens.

“I’m telling you, Little Andrew, she’s the music princess—already registered as a professional pianist with the national music association, and she’s got a cold attitude. Ordinary people don’t stand a chance!”

“Ah, that’s true. Why are there so few beautiful women who are both talented and good-looking?” that classmate said gloomily.
