Chapter 18

"Ah, Mr. Harris, there you are." Another person rushed into the office—it was the teacher in charge of coordinating job fairs with various companies. With a beaming smile, the teacher said to John Harris, "The job fair over there is still waiting for you to host. What do you think..."

"To hell with the job fair!" The dashing HR manager suddenly burst out with a curse, yanked off his tie, and said, "Send out a notice—the job fair is postponed." With that, he stomped out in a hurry.

The teacher in charge blinked at Mr. Thompson for a while before finally asking, "What happened?"

"I don't know either, I was about to ask you." Mr. Thompson clearly knew this person.

"I have no idea. The job fair was just starting, and this John Harris suddenly ran off with his assistant without saying a word. I searched everywhere before I found them here. The students are all still waiting over there—what should we do now?"

"Let it be." Mr. Thompson rolled his eyes, glanced at the few students still standing dumbly in the office, and said, "What are you standing around for? Aren't you going to eat?"

John Harris hurriedly ran out of the office building, looked around under the sun, but didn't see any sign of William Bolton. He stomped his foot in frustration.

"Supervisor, what should we do now?" Emily Brooks pushed up her glasses and asked in a slightly lazy tone.

"Find him! Damn it, this is unbelievable—what kind of person is this?" John Harris was sweating with anxiety.

"Is this person really that important? Why are you ignoring the job fair just to find him?" Emily Brooks asked, frowning.

"This concerns our livelihoods—do you think it's important or not?" John Harris shot his assistant an annoyed look.

"I think those students just now must be William Bolton's classmates. Should we ask them?"

John Harris's eyes lit up and he nodded, "Right, right, they must know where William Bolton is. Go ask them—no matter what method you use, you must find that William Bolton. Even if you have to seduce him, get him to sign the agreement for me!"

Emily Brooks rolled her eyes slightly and muttered under her breath, "Bullshit!"

"Hurry up! If you can't handle this, don't bother coming back to the company."

Outside the school, at a shabby food stall, William Bolton and Grace Foster sat facing each other. Grace Foster was holding a cup of bubble tea, seemingly glancing casually around, but her beautiful big eyes kept sneaking peeks at William Bolton's expression.

William Bolton sat across from her, staring intently.

"Don't you know it's very rude to stare at a beautiful woman like that?" Grace Foster finally couldn't take it anymore, slammed her bubble tea down angrily, and glared at William Bolton.

William Bolton gave a wry smile, picked up the half-finished bubble tea and slurped a few sips before finally saying, "You were behind what happened today, weren't you?"

"No." Grace Foster snatched the bubble tea from William Bolton's hand and frowned, "How come I never noticed before that you're so unhygienic?"

"I know it was you. I, William Bolton, don't know many people. For the head of the Fang Group to chase me all the way to the office, if it wasn't you, I can't think of anyone else. I knew you were a rich girl, but I didn't expect your family background to be this big. The Fang Group, huh!"

Grace Foster pouted and stomped her foot, "Fine, fine, it was me. So what?"

"Nothing. It's just... why did you go to the teacher's office to look for me?" William Bolton had a hint of bitterness at the corner of his mouth. He had a strong feeling that with this mortal girl, things were going to get complicated in the future.

"Didn't I tell you to call me? It's not like you don't have my number." Grace Foster said angrily, "I went to your school to find you, but you weren't there. They all said you moved out, but no one knew where you moved to."

"So you ended up at the teacher's office?"

"Yeah. You guys have to report your graduation project every week." After saying this, Grace Foster slammed her bubble tea on the table again. "Tell me, why haven't you called me lately?"

"I don't have any aftereffects, so why would I call you? Besides, didn't you already give me a hundred thousand in compensation?"

"Isn't it normal for friends to call and chat? No one said you had to have aftereffects to call me." Grace Foster was even more upset.

"Don't you have any friends? Why do you have to come to me?"

Grace Foster's expression froze, turning rather forlorn. She lowered her head and thought for a long time before finally saying, "You're different from those people. It's easy being with you. Do you hate me? I just want to be friends with you. You know, with my status, it's really hard to find a close friend."

William Bolton sighed, feeling that his earlier words had been a bit harsh.

"Forget it. I know I hit you—I'm sorry. You have every reason to dislike me. I won't bother you anymore." Grace Foster said sadly, then grabbed her bag and turned to leave.

William Bolton was left speechless, watching Grace Foster's departing figure. He wanted to explain, but held back.

Between mortals and cultivators, there was an unbridgeable gap to begin with. Even though he and Grace Foster had crossed paths again this time, she was the one who cut it off herself.
