Logan Carter's hallucinations vanished without a trace.
‘Hiss~ The effect is at least twice as good as I expected!’ Logan Carter was both shocked and delighted. He figured this might be because it was inside his own body—controlling himself was definitely easier than manipulating the outside world.
“Wonderful, it seems I still have some strength left. I should be able to do even better.” Logan Carter had even more ideas.
Vampires feed by biting the blood vessels in their prey’s necks with their fangs, so the first blood they get is always from around the neck. But now, the mandrake toxin in Logan Carter’s body was almost evenly distributed throughout all his blood vessels. If he could gather the toxin in the blood vessels near his neck, then the vampire would ingest much more poison in a short time, and the effects would be faster and more intense!
With this thought, he acted immediately.
Under his conscious control, the scattered evil chill in his blood vessels surged toward the carotid artery. The evil chill in his neck became more and more concentrated, and the difficulty of control rose sharply.
‘Huff~ huff~’ Logan Carter’s breathing became much more rapid: ‘I’m using elemental control to fight against the natural diffusion of liquids—this really burns through energy... Hold on! Hold on! Now the toxin is all near my neck, and right next to my neck is my brain. I absolutely can’t let the toxin spread, or my brain will be the first to suffer!’
It was like dropping a drop of ink into a glass of water—because of the random movement of molecules, the ink would inevitably diffuse evenly into the water. What Logan Carter was doing now was gathering the ink that had already mixed into the water back into a single drop.
This was a process of entropy reduction, and according to the first law of thermodynamics, such a process could never happen spontaneously; it had to be driven by extra energy from outside.
So, where did this energy come from?
Logan Carter’s elemental control came from his brain, so the brain was the primary supplier of this energy. But the brain’s energy didn’t come from nowhere—it relied entirely on the supply from the blood.
Now, with the brain’s energy consumption soaring, the blood supply instantly ramped up.
According to the second law of thermodynamics, in this process, the energy provided by the brain could never be converted 100% into useful energy; there would always be extra energy consumed, and all energy consumption would ultimately turn into heat.
The result of Logan Carter’s series of actions was that his head became burning hot, as if he had a high fever. His body, trying to dissipate the heat, made his breathing rapid and caused him to sweat profusely. To provide enough energy for his brain, his heart pounded wildly, thumping so hard it felt like it would leap out of his throat.
It felt just like running a marathon.
But things didn’t end there.
Another side effect appeared: to supply the brain, blood was massively concentrated there, and with the rise in body temperature, intracranial pressure increased, resulting in waves of intense headaches.
All of this made Logan Carter acutely aware that he was in a real world. In this world, the essence of all change was energy transformation, and any extra ability always came with an extra price.
He knew very well that if he exceeded his physical limits, his body temperature would spiral out of control, and his brain would suffer irreversible damage. But he also knew that whether he lived or died depended entirely on this night’s gamble!
The intense headache nearly drove Logan Carter insane.
“Hold on! Hold on! To survive in such a brutal alien world, you have to put in inhuman effort!”
“Vampire Gavin Clark, fuck your mother!”
“If you’ve got the guts, don’t let me live—otherwise, I’ll definitely kill you!”
“Gavin Clark, ¥#……%¥”
Logan Carter cursed furiously in his heart. The situation he was in was all thanks to this damned vampire. Even his transmigration was related to this vampire—this jinx! This poser! This bloodsucking beast!
Just as Logan Carter was about to pass out, he vaguely saw a figure walk into the alchemy lab.
A wicked, smooth voice drifted over: “Mmm~ reeking of alcohol, drenched in cold sweat—trying to use booze to fight your fear? Oh~~~ hehehe~~~ what a wise choice.”
The tone was exactly the same as in the game. Logan Carter’s head was splitting with pain, and he didn’t even have the energy to be afraid.
“Poser! If I survive, I’ll definitely kill you!”

Chapter 4: The Hunter
Just like in the game, the high-ranking vampire Gavin Clark was especially talkative.
He strolled toward Logan Carter at a leisurely pace. “Little one, your performance is truly surprising. I thought you’d panic and run for your life.”
Logan Carter still said nothing. There was still some liquor in the bottle. He grabbed it and took two big gulps, the alcohol giving him courage. He glared fiercely at Gavin Clark, swearing to himself: ‘You bastard, don’t let me escape alive, or I’ll come back with an Apocalypse Tank and crush you!’
Gavin Clark burst out laughing. “Interesting, very interesting! You’re the bravest human I’ve ever seen. As a reward, I’ll try to be gentle, try to let you live a little longer, haha.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Logan Carter saw the figure in front of him suddenly turn into a streak of black light. A gust of wind, reeking of blood, rushed at him, and then he felt a sharp pain in his neck, as if two daggers had stabbed into him.
