“Boom~ crack~ bang~”
The female hunter crashed into the wooden building like a cannonball, smashing through the wall and falling inside, never to come out again.
After taking that hit, even if she wasn’t dead, she was already gravely injured.
‘Whew~’
Logan Carter let out a light breath, raised his hand to wipe the cold sweat from his forehead, his heart icy cold.
“It’s one thing for the hunter to lose to Gavin Clark, but the mandrake poison should have taken effect, right? Why is Gavin Clark still fighting so fiercely? Is it different from the game?”
“I hope that girl survives this time. If she dies saving me, even if I die, I’ll have regrets in my heart.”

Chapter 5: What a Beautiful Girl
The fate of the unexpectedly appearing female hunter was unknown, but the sea urchin extract Logan Carter had just drunk was starting to take effect.
He could clearly feel a hot and astringent current in his body. After it merged with the remaining mandrake poison inside Logan Carter, the cold and heat tangled together, and then both the burning and chilling sensations disappeared, turning into a very mild, lazy, and harmless presence.
‘The mandrake poison has been completely neutralized.’ Logan Carter understood.
As the residual mandrake poison quickly vanished, the subtle symptoms of poisoning on Logan Carter’s body disappeared completely, and his mind became thoroughly clear.
However, due to massive blood loss, Logan Carter’s body was still extremely weak, his limbs powerless, and he felt very cold. Lying by the window, the late autumn wind made him shiver uncontrollably.
With the female hunter’s fate unknown, his own body weak, and a cruel vampire downstairs, it seemed like all he could do now was wait for death.
Outside the window, Gavin Clark stood motionless in the yard, lost in thought.
“What’s up with this guy?” Logan Carter wondered.
Gavin Clark was still in his monstrous form, standing by the flowerbed in the yard, his thick arms hanging at his sides, his nails constantly scraping and making a harsh ‘zzzz’ sound. His blood-red eyes, faintly glowing, stared toward the wooden building’s main door. From time to time, he stuck out his tongue to lick his exposed fangs. The muscles on his ferocious face twitched, as if he were laughing, or perhaps crying.
Logan Carter’s heart stirred: ‘Something’s not right with this state. Could it be... the mandrake poison is taking effect?’
Just then, Gavin Clark suddenly burst out laughing.
“Hahaha~ Insects, all insects. The hunter is just a biting bug. I can stomp you into a bloody pulp with a single step!”
“Blood~ delicious blood~~ sweet, mellow, fresh, just like moonlit night wine.”
“You lowly two-legged beasts, hurry up and wash your necks and stretch them out~ hahaha~”
The more Gavin Clark spoke, the more outrageous he became, his demeanor growing increasingly deranged.
Logan Carter clutched the wound on his neck, the pain making him wince. Now, hearing this madness, he felt a nameless anger rise within him, wishing he could rush downstairs and fight Gavin Clark to the death.
But his frail body constantly reminded him that, as unpleasant as Gavin Clark’s words were, the difference in strength between them was truly vast. To a high-level vampire, humans were nothing but pitiful creatures at the bottom of the food chain.
To high-level vampires, humans were like bugs to people. Crushing a bug is just a matter of lifting a foot, having nothing to do with morality or good and evil.
But humans are not bugs after all. Logan Carter had once possessed great power in the game. On Earth, humans were the dominant species. Looking at the arrogant vampire standing by the flowerbed, Logan Carter steeled himself.
“If I survive tonight, I swear I’ll turn vampires—all monsters—into protected animals in a zoo!”
“I swear it!”
‘Ugh~~ ugh~~~ ah~’
Suddenly, faint groans drifted up from downstairs. The sound was light, but Logan Carter could just barely make it out. His heart leapt with joy: “It’s that hunter—she’s actually alive!”
He listened carefully and found the sound was coming from the direction of the first-floor kitchen.
“Hm?” Logan Carter’s heart skipped a beat, and he immediately looked at the vampire Gavin Clark in the yard. Gavin Clark was still talking, but he was facing the direction of the wooden building’s main door.
A wave of wild joy surged in Logan Carter’s heart: “It worked! The mandrake poison extract really worked!”
The kitchen was at the far west end of the wooden building, at least 15 meters from the main door. Even Logan Carter could easily tell where the hunter was; with a vampire’s keen senses, there’s no way he could make such a mistake. Yet Gavin Clark kept talking to the main door—there was only one explanation: he was hallucinating from the mandrake poison!
“Thud~ thud~ thud~”
Not long after, there were light footsteps on the stairs near the alchemy room door. A few seconds later, the wooden door was gently pushed open, and a tall, slender figure appeared in the doorway. There were two faint golden lights at the figure’s eye level, especially striking in the dim light.
“Golden eyes! Strong and tall body! Definitely a mutant hunter!” Logan Carter recognized the identity at once.
Because monsters were simply too powerful, their physical abilities far surpassed ordinary people. No matter how strong or quick a normal person was, there was still a fundamental gap between them and monsters.
