Chapter 5

Brian Cooper looked stunned. During Miss Grace's lecture, Henry Carter was clearly sleeping—how could he possibly know so much about those three divine patterns?!

“Could it be that Henry Carter was just pretending to sleep earlier?”

“Well said!” Grace Hamilton looked at Henry Carter approvingly and said, it seemed Henry Carter hadn’t been completely inattentive. She thought that maybe Henry Carter hadn’t been sleeping the whole time and had actually learned something.

Hearing Grace Hamilton's praise, Henry Carter immediately realized that the knowledge of divine patterns he had comprehended in his dream was real! This was probably related to that mysterious old book, because after he woke up, the old book had disappeared.

Within his sea of consciousness, countless divine patterns flowed, radiating golden light.

“Hmph, is knowledge of divine patterns really that easy to master? As long as Miss Grace asks a bit deeper, that fool Henry Carter definitely won’t be able to answer!” Brian Cooper stared intently at Miss Grace, hoping she would ask another question and make Henry Carter embarrass himself.

Grace Hamilton smiled slightly and said, “Then, how many types of divine patterns are used in the ‘Stacked Wave Fist’? This was covered in the lesson just now!”

“Sixteen types!”

“And the Water-Splitting Finger?”

“Twenty-one types!”

Henry Carter answered fluently.

No one expected Henry Carter to know all this. The students in the class looked at each other in surprise. Could it be that Henry Carter learned all this while sleeping? Of course, that was just their guess. They figured Henry Carter must have studied this material before class; after all, he definitely wasn’t listening while sleeping, and during Miss Grace's lecture, Henry Carter was even having a nightmare.

What they didn’t know was that Henry Carter really had learned it while sleeping—and what he learned far exceeded their imagination!

Grace Hamilton glanced at Henry Carter, who looked calm and confident, and her thoughts stirred. She suddenly wanted to test just how much divine pattern knowledge Henry Carter had mastered. Blinking, she smiled and asked, “How many types of spirit-level techniques can be formed from these three divine patterns?”

Everyone in the class focused their gaze on Henry Carter again, their faces showing anticipation for some drama. Miss Grace's question was already beyond the scope of this lesson—even the most attentive students couldn’t answer it, let alone Henry Carter, who had been sound asleep in class.

“Other than me, who in Class Three can answer Miss Grace's question?”

Brian Cooper looked at Henry Carter and sneered, puffing out his chest and glancing proudly around the class. He then looked expectantly at Miss Grace, hoping that when Henry Carter failed to answer, she would let him respond, giving him another chance to shine in front of Miss Grace.

Both of Brian Cooper's parents were instructors in the academy’s advanced class. When it came to knowledge of divine patterns, no one in Class Three could compare to Brian Cooper!

“For spirit-level techniques formed by these three divine patterns, there are thirty-eight basic spirit-level techniques, twelve intermediate ones, and six advanced ones!” Under the gaze of the whole class, Henry Carter didn’t shrink back at all. He looked calmly at Miss Grace and answered with certainty.

“Nonsense!!”

“Henry Carter, if you don’t know, don’t make things up and mislead others!” Brian Cooper suddenly stood up, looking down at Henry Carter with a condescending gaze, sharply reprimanding him.

At this moment, the satisfaction in Brian Cooper's heart was beyond words. Before Miss Grace could speak, he couldn’t help but stand up.

“So he was just guessing!”

“Look at how calm he was—I almost thought he really knew.”

“Henry Carter sure can make things up!”

Brian Cooper was the top student in Class Three. Whether in martial arts or knowledge of divine patterns, he far surpassed the other students, so naturally the class believed him. After hearing Brian Cooper say that Henry Carter was talking nonsense, they all started mocking Henry Carter.

“Henry Carter, let me tell you the correct answer! With these three divine patterns, there are thirty-six basic spirit-level techniques, ten intermediate ones, and five advanced ones!” Brian Cooper sneered mockingly, glancing disdainfully at Henry Carter, feeling very pleased with himself. Who in this class could compare to him in understanding divine patterns?

But to Brian Cooper's utter surprise, Miss Grace didn’t seem to intend to criticize Henry Carter at all. She just stared at Henry Carter, her clear eyes shining with a bright light.

Grace Hamilton said slowly, “Brian Cooper's answer is not wrong.”

Brian Cooper immediately looked proud, casting a mocking glance at Henry Carter. How could this loser compare to him?

But then Grace Hamilton continued, “Henry Carter's answer is also not wrong!”

The whole class was stunned—how could both answers be correct?

Grace Hamilton gave Henry Carter a meaningful look and said, “Some techniques are too difficult to learn, and some can cause adverse effects after cultivation, so they are classified as forbidden techniques. If you include the forbidden techniques, Henry Carter's answer is correct!”

The whole class was in an uproar—so that’s how it was.

But forbidden techniques were all kept in the academy’s forbidden books pavilion, and only martial artists could even begin to learn about them. How did Henry Carter know about forbidden techniques?
