Chapter 5

William Longman spoke word by word: “You made me realize that I still feel jealousy, I still have impulses, I am still a normal man!” The muzzle of the gun slid gently to Emily Foster’s temple. With a muffled “Bang!”, the bullet mercilessly entered Emily Foster’s beautiful head.

Emily Foster’s beautiful pupils slowly dilated in despair, until all signs of life faded from them.

Hunter Carter’s eyes grew moist, and he roared with all his might: “Bastard! Animal!”

William Longman’s cold gun pointed at his neck: “Death is not the best way to punish someone. Watching you die in front of me can’t possibly quell the anger in my heart!”

Four burly men in black entered from outside the door. They pulled the disheveled Hunter Carter up from the ground and tied his hands with rope.

William Longman: “Do you know how much I loved her? I even naively believed she loved me. Anyone in this world might betray me, but Emily never would…” His eyes were filled with endless sorrow, his heart aching as if twisted by a knife.

Hunter Carter witnessed Emily Foster’s vibrant life vanish before his eyes. The guilt and pain in his heart far outweighed his fear of death. If not for him, she should still be alive and well in this world.

“Are you afraid of dying?” William Longman’s cold fingers grabbed Hunter Carter’s short hair.

“Go to hell!” Hunter Carter glared at him in fury.

William Longman let out a sinister laugh: “No one in this world isn’t afraid of death. You’re no different.” His gaze fell on the ice bar ahead, inside which various precious drugs were stored.

“You probably don’t know, I used to be a very good doctor!” William Longman opened the ice bar, took out some drugs, and as he read the instructions, a vicious smile suddenly appeared at the corner of his mouth.

Hunter Carter’s eyes widened. He already realized what was about to happen to him and began to struggle desperately.

William Longman sneered, “If I’m not mistaken, these should be drugs used on animals. Since you like that kind of thing so much, I’ll let you enjoy it to the fullest!”

The syringe pierced Hunter Carter’s veins again and again. He had lost count of how many doses of Suprei William Longman had injected into his body. His temperature began to rise, his mouth and tongue felt an indescribable restlessness. “Animal… animal…” His voice began to grow weak and powerless.

William Longman tossed the syringe aside, his cold fingers lifting Hunter Carter’s chin: “I won’t let you die so easily…”

Chapter 1 【Burn!】 (Part 1)

When Hunter Carter woke up, he found himself inside a helicopter. Emily Foster’s cold corpse lay beside him.

William Longman and several of his men were staring at him coldly.

“Where are you taking me?” Hunter Carter’s voice was hoarse beyond belief.

“We’re almost there!” William Longman gently stroked Emily Foster’s pale, cold, beautiful face, his eyes showing an extremely complex expression.

The helicopter began to descend slowly. Two of his men opened the cabin door, and one of them used a military knife to cut the rope binding Hunter Carter’s hands.

The two men pulled Hunter Carter up and pushed him toward the cabin door.

Before him stretched a vast grassland. The cold wind blew straight into his face, making it almost impossible for Hunter Carter to open his eyes.

“Goodbye!” After William Longman said this, the two men roughly shoved Hunter Carter out.

Before Hunter Carter could get up from the ground, they threw Emily Foster’s corpse down as well. Instinctively, Hunter Carter opened his arms to catch her body. Seeing Emily Foster’s lifeless face, Hunter Carter felt a pang in his heart, and tears streamed uncontrollably down his cheeks.

The helicopter circled once above Hunter Carter’s head, then flew off into the distant sky, leaving Hunter Carter alone in the vast wilderness.

He looked around. All he could see was endless wild grass, with no end in sight. Judging by instinct, this must be an uninhabited area. It seemed William Longman wanted him to be left here to fend for himself.

He pressed his cracked lips together, realizing his body temperature was still rising—surely the large amount of drugs injected into him was taking effect.

He bit his lower lip hard, struggled to pull his hand free, and slapped himself across the face, shouting loudly: “Hunter Carter, you are a human, not a beast!” But he knew the powerful effects of Suprei. As the drug’s effects intensified in his body, he would lose control of his actions. Hunter Carter picked up stones from the ground and buried Emily Foster’s body. That was all he could do for now.

William Longman looked down through the porthole. From this angle, Hunter Carter was already just a small black dot.

“Mr. Yin, are you really going to just let him go like this?”

William Longman revealed a cruel smile: “Once the drug’s effects fully kick in, he’ll become a complete beast! A mad animal driven by desire!”

Hunter Carter forced himself not to think about Emily Foster. He ran forward for his life. The sun was about to set, and a golden afterglow blanketed the endless grassland. But he was in no mood to appreciate the scenery. He kept reminding himself to get away from here, to get away from Emily Foster’s corpse, to never desecrate the dead…
