Chapter 13

The three-headed antelopes clearly had no intention of leaving yet. They waited respectfully until the white deer departed, then continued drinking water.

At this moment, James Carter collapsed weakly to the ground, his body exhausted, even more fatigued than after a whole day of training.

A single glance from that evolved creature had made his whole body go limp with fear, once again overturning everything he thought he knew.

He simply lay on the ground, recovering his strength while reflecting on what had just happened.

It was obvious that the creatures of the evolution world had no concept of “human,” nor any sense of interspecies hostility. In the eyes of the white deer, James Carter, Black Handsome, and the antelopes were all just evolved beings.

When James Carter showed the same respect as the other creatures, the white deer had no intention of making things difficult for him.

At the same time, James Carter confirmed a theory: not all evolved creatures are fond of killing.

For example, those three antelopes definitely had the ability to kill the black wild boar, but they didn’t go for the kill.

According to James Carter’s guess, herbivores only develop a strong urge to kill when they need to evolve. Carnivores, on the other hand, are more ruthless—like Black Handsome, who would go on a killing spree at the slightest provocation. However, during these slaughters, Black Handsome didn’t seem excited. Ever since digesting the silver wolf crystal, he’d lost interest in all other animal crystals.

“Roar!”

A deafening beastly roar reached James Carter’s ears.

He rolled over and looked intently—the one roaring in anger was the largest male antelope.

The young antelope lay in a pool of blood, its body sliced in two by some sharp weapon.

When he saw the culprit, James Carter’s eyes grew moist.

A human!

The one who did it was a human!

James Carter was overwhelmed with emotion. It hadn’t been easy—after being alone in this strange world for ten days, he finally saw another of his kind!

Looking closely at the person’s appearance, James Carter was deeply shocked.

The man looked to be in his twenties, with features characteristic of Chinese descent: black eyes, yellow skin, and so handsome he could be called a male idol of his generation. With sword-like brows and starry eyes, a cold expression, and an aura of indifference, his first impression was that of a cool, aloof guy.

His long hair danced in the wind, adding an ethereal, otherworldly air.

His outfit left James Carter dumbfounded.

The first thing that caught the eye was a set of silver-white light armor, paired with matching silver-white boots. The imposing armor accentuated his tall, upright figure, giving him an aura of invincibility. This getup reminded James Carter of the silver knight set from a famous fantasy game—it was just too cool.

By comparison, James Carter, dressed in ordinary sportswear, instantly felt like a total loser.

In his right hand, the aloof guy held a four-foot ancient sword; in his left, a silver-white scabbard.

The ancient sword exuded a powerful aura capable of cutting through anything—clearly no ordinary weapon.

James Carter instinctively glanced at the machete in his own hand, which had four notches in the blade, and tears welled up before he could even speak.

In the blink of an eye, as James Carter was sizing up the aloof guy, the battle by the water’s edge had already begun.

The male antelope lunged forward at an astonishing speed.

Its charge was far faster and more forceful than that of the giant wolf from before—James Carter knew he couldn’t withstand such an attack.

A flash of sword light!

James Carter didn’t even see how the aloof guy struck, but the male antelope’s head was already rolling on the ground.

Another flash of sword light, and the other antelope also fell into a pool of blood.

The aloof guy’s swordsmanship was so powerful, it felt like witnessing a legendary “sword from the west, immortal descending from the heavens.”

“That’s insane, absolutely off the charts! There’s no way someone with just twenty-something combat power like me could pull that off. What’s his combat power? A hundred? Two hundred?”

James Carter stared in shock at the scene, deeply awed by the aloof guy’s overwhelming combat strength.

The aloof young man showed no intention of dissecting the corpses to extract crystals. On the index finger of his left hand, a delicate and gorgeous sapphire ring suddenly formed a twisted, strange little space, sucking all three antelope corpses inside.

“What the heck is that, a legendary spatial ring?”

James Carter’s eyes nearly popped out, his heart pounding at the sight.

Thinking of his own hiking backpack, he suddenly felt the sorrow of a loser encountering a rich, handsome guy.

The aloof young man was about to leave, but suddenly stopped.

He turned around, his gaze sharp as lightning, locking onto James Carter’s hiding spot.

Killing intent!

Even from a hundred meters away, James Carter could feel a strong murderous aura.

He stood up and ran over, keeping a ten-meter distance, and said sincerely, “Hey man, I mean no harm. Can we talk for a bit?”

This was the first living person James Carter had met in the evolution world, and he was genuinely sincere—he had so much to say, so many questions to ask, and so many experiences to share.

However, the aloof young man didn’t give him any face.

He gripped his long sword tightly, staring coldly at James Carter.

Could it be this guy isn’t from China and doesn’t understand what I’m saying?

James Carter’s mind raced, so he switched to his professional mode: “Kan you si bi ke English? (Can you speak English)”

The aloof young man remained silent, still glaring coldly at him.

James Carter refused to give up and got even more professional: “Aniaseyo, are you from Korea?”
