David Clark has gained insight into the Holy Light and received its blessing? But this phenomenon is completely different from what he was familiar with before: whether it’s a paladin or a priest, after comprehending the Holy Light, a pillar of light would descend from the ‘void’, bathing the priest or paladin in the Holy Light, granting them its blessing and making them a follower of the Light from then on.
But the Holy Light before his eyes was not descending from the void; instead, it was radiating from within David Clark’s body. Although still faint and not powerful, Franklin Baker could not possibly be mistaken.
Franklin Baker, whose head was practically flooded with question marks, couldn’t come up with a reasonable explanation for what he was seeing. Could it be that the David Clark before him was actually an incarnation of the Holy Light?
“O Holy Light, is this a test for me?”
Franklin Baker seriously suspected that his muddled arrival in this world and his encounter with such a special existence as David Clark was actually the Holy Light testing him, to see if his faith in the Light was still steadfast enough.
At this moment, David Clark, with his eyes closed, had no idea that Franklin Baker was already stunned. He was still immersed in the joy of successfully mastering the miraculous power of the Holy Light.
Unaware of just how special his situation was, David Clark had, after closing his eyes and following Franklin Baker’s instructions to meditate, immediately felt the Holy Light slowly welling up inside him. The sensation was like a hot spring bubbling up from deep within, and then this warm current slowly flowed throughout his body, washing over every part it passed, making him feel incredibly comfortable all over.
“This feeling… it’s even more relaxing than a bath or a massage!”
Not only was all his fatigue swept away, but David Clark felt as if his body had been reborn. All the discomfort left by his experiences over the past two years had vanished, and even his strength seemed to have increased a bit. At the same time, his mind became clearer, his spirits unusually high, and all these changes made David Clark ‘enjoy’ the sensation for quite a while before he finally opened his eyes again.
“Tirion, what’s wrong?”
“No, it’s nothing!” Franklin Baker didn’t mention David Clark’s ‘unusual’ situation. He felt he now had even more reason to settle down here: “I just didn’t expect you to comprehend the Holy Light so quickly. Very few people can do that.”
This reply wasn’t just perfunctory. There were many priests in the Church of the Holy Light, and the Silver Hand had trained quite a few paladins, but the vast majority could only comprehend the Light after strict instruction and training. Only a very few could immediately gain the favor of the Light upon choosing to walk its path.
“Really? Looks like I have some talent in this area.” As he said this, David Clark immediately realized what reward he had received from Franklin Baker: the Holy Light Affinity!
He was very self-aware. He didn’t believe that, in a world like Azeroth where countless heroes couldn’t instantly master this power, he could do so just by listening to Franklin Baker’s explanation for a few minutes. The only reasonable explanation was that his golden finger had worked its magic.
“It’s more than just ‘not bad’.” Franklin Baker sighed. Next, instead of rushing to teach David Clark how to use the Holy Light, he carefully asked about David Clark’s feelings—did he notice anything special after comprehending the Light?
“I feel like some minor ailments have disappeared, my strength seems to have increased, and my mind feels clearer…”
Listening to David Clark’s description, Franklin Baker was fairly certain that what David Clark had mastered was indeed the Holy Light. Aside from the slightly different scene he had just witnessed, there was no difference from the Holy Light he himself used.
“Not only that, with the protection of the Holy Light, you can undergo even harsher physical training, greatly improving your physical fitness.” Seeing nothing unusual for now, Franklin Baker prepared to teach David Clark how to use the Light as usual: “As for whether you want to focus on using the Light, or on honing your body and learning to use various weapons, that’s up to your personal interest.”

Chapter 7: Let Me Give You a Buff First
While carrying firewood and lumber and listening to Franklin Baker explain the directions for training in the Holy Light, David Clark understood that whether you were a paladin or a priest, you were simply a follower of the Light. There were some differences in how the Light was used, but it wasn’t as clearly divided as in the games.
The real world of Azeroth wasn’t like the games, with their complex skills and talent trees.
In a sense, the power and nature of the Holy Light were always there. As long as you were willing to explore, develop, and practice, even as a paladin, you could master ‘priest skills’.
And the reverse was true as well!
So what Franklin Baker meant was that David Clark could choose his own training direction based on his interests, not that he had to pick one path and could never change it.
“So… which direction are you interested in?”
“I’m interested in all of them.” David Clark was already an adult, not a child, so he wanted it all: “Since there’s nothing important I need to do here, I have plenty of time to learn everything about the Holy Light.”
Ultimately, it all came down to understanding and using the Light, improving your physical fitness, and mastering various weapons—just these three main directions. If you have nothing else to do, why not learn them all?
