Chapter 11

Hearing my answer, the two of them looked as if they were trying hard not to laugh—beautiful, indeed.

Grace Bennett's willow-shaped eyebrows arched charmingly, adding even more allure in this strange environment. “We are genuine earthlings!”

She emphasized the word “earthlings” heavily. Well, looks like I’ve really run into some monsters this time. At least, before dying, I finally broke free from the shackles of atheism and got to personally encounter another dimension. Sigh, if only I could tell Walter about this—he’s always been the most interested in this kind of thing.

“Today in class you actually dared to take advantage of me. According to our rules, you’ll have to pay for it with your life!” The Enchantress Bennett said this very casually, but to my ears, it didn’t sound pleasant at all. Wasn’t it just a brief touch through clothes? As expected, a demon’s heart is unfathomable… so petty.

“Um, how about this—let’s make a deal. I’ll let you touch me back, and we’ll call it even. For the sake of being classmates, let’s each go back to sleep.” Tonight is unusually cool; it’d be a real waste not to get a good night’s sleep.

“Hmph, look at this smooth-talking guy. Emily pleaded for you in vain. Tonight, you won’t escape even if you had wings!” Grace Bennett pointed at me angrily, clearly about to make a move.

“Not necessarily! How can two beauties bully Boss like this?”

A fourth voice suddenly appeared, sounding especially jarring in this situation. The two girls just smiled and nodded, not too surprised, even a bit excited. I was even more excited, because it was Walter's voice. Hearing it now felt especially comforting—my savior is here!

Walter appeared just like Grace Bennett, gradually emerging from the distance, wearing a smug grin, his two buck teeth especially prominent. “Boss, how’s my walking pose? Pretty professional, right?”

I could cough up blood—are you here to get yourself killed? I knew in my heart that Emily Carter and the others definitely wouldn’t kill me. If they wanted to, they wouldn’t go to all this trouble. But I still couldn’t figure out their real purpose.

“William Clark, as expected, you’re a new human too! No wonder you’re so smart!”

“No, no, beautiful lady, my intelligence isn’t because of my envoy. It’s more like, through it, I can fully unleash my wits and talents!” Walter shook his head and struck a pose, pointing his index finger like a cool guy.

Oh, come on!

“Oh, Boss, seriously? Hitting my head again? I’m your lifesaver, you know!” Walter protested unhappily. His adorable head is his meal ticket—at this rate, he’ll end up with a concussion.

Lifesaver? Let’s see if you actually save me first!

“You two, stop arguing. If you want to save someone, it won’t be that easy. Show us your envoy.” Grace Bennett looked at William Clark with great interest—after all, this was the third of her kind she’d ever seen.

“Heh heh, I’ll gladly oblige. It’s not like I’m hiding anything. Come out from my contract, William Clark—MN!”

Strange things happen every year, but this year tops them all. My eyes went wide as light bulbs—right in front of me, a computer was bouncing around on its own!

But I wasn’t the only one shocked—so were William Clark, Grace Bennett, and Emily Carter!

“Boss, you can see my MN?”

“Are you kidding? You think I’m blind? There’s a computer jumping around in front of me—of course I can see it!” That’s it, it must be the end of the world—even computers have come to life.

Emily Carter and Grace Bennett nodded as well. Emily Carter couldn’t hide her excitement. Anyone who can see an envoy must be a new human. Now, all that’s left is to draw out his envoy!

Emily Carter's voice appeared directly in William Clark's mind: “William Clark, we mean no harm. Right now, we’re inside my envoy—the Saintess. Ordinary people wouldn’t notice. We just want to draw out Henry Bennett's envoy, so we have to create a dangerous situation!”

Actually, William Clark was also very excited to meet new humans for the first time, and since he didn’t sense any murderous intent from the two beauties, he guessed that must be the case. As for how they were so sure Mr. Henry had this ability, that was anyone’s guess. But it was worth a try!

He nodded silently. The demon girls across from us sprang into action. Grace Bennett smiled at us and said, “William Clark, do you really think your ability-type envoy can beat my Ice Queen?”

“From my contract, Grace Bennett, come forth—Ice Queen!”

A woman slightly older and more mature than Grace Bennett appeared at her side. But I knew that probably wasn’t a human—most likely something like William Clark's MN, what they called an envoy!

…But wow, this envoy is so sexy and stunning!

Jeez, she’s really “chilling”—as soon as the Ice Queen appeared, the temperature started to drop. If I’d known, I would’ve worn more clothes!

On William Clark's MN screen, a string of data flashed by, and suddenly a stiff voice announced: “Grace Bennett, 18 years old, envoy—Ice Queen, beginner ability type, controls cold air; Emily Carter, 18 years old, envoy—Saintess, intermediate lower ability type, barrier.”

Hearing MN report their abilities, Emily Carter looked a bit surprised. I was completely dumbfounded—what is all this? Am I dreaming???

“William Clark, what does your MN mean?”

“Heh heh, ‘made in China’—MN for short!” He finished proudly, as if he’d just won a world championship. Well, that name is certainly unique!
