Chapter 12

Julia ignored my stunned state and simply reached out, causing the contents of the package to spill out. “Nameless Martial Arts Cards, and there are as many as fifteen! Did you buy these to learn martial arts?”

“Of course, I want to become a martial arts master and kill all the monsters on the island!”

Seeing my gritted teeth, Julia cheerfully snatched the auction house card, and after frantically tapping away on the computer, pointed at the screen and said to me, “The best learning path is to start with magic. Since you already have the Holy Light Beetle, just buy a basic card to train holy power... Oh! I made a mistake, you use mental power, not holy power, so you need to buy a beginner’s mental power training card. And you also need a weapon, I’ll pick the Golden Holy Spear for you... Oh, that one’s too advanced, you can’t use it yet, so the Cross Holy Spear instead...”

“Don’t just buy things at random!”

By the time I rushed over, Julia had already completed the transaction. Looking at the successful payment page on the screen, I was on the verge of tears. I had no idea what Julia had bought, but in the blink of an eye, over ten million was spent—enough to buy out my parents’ company.

Kids from poor families really don’t have the guts to be extravagant!

I opened my own Book of Demons and placed the three daily cards and fifteen martial arts cards inside. As more explanations appeared on the page, I clicked on one of them.

This incomplete set of cards is missing the sixth, eighth, and tenth cards of the Eight Extraordinary Meridians Chapter, and the second and sixth cards of the Twelve Meridians Chapter. But for me right now, it’s more than enough.

Just as I casually clicked on the first card of the Eight Extraordinary Meridians Chapter, a prompt appeared on the Book of Demons: “Which martial arts card would you like to practice first? If you start with the Twelve Meridians Chapter, your internal energy will be more robust in the later stages, with the effect of increasing lifespan. If you start with the Eight Extraordinary Meridians Chapter, your internal energy will be more domineering in the later stages, with the effect of staying youthful and never aging.”

“I’ll start with the Eight Extraordinary Meridians Chapter! Living to be that old is lonely, better to stay young forever. Besides, I can train up to the fifth card in the Eight Extraordinary Meridians Chapter, but the Twelve Meridians Chapter is missing the second card, so its future prospects are pretty much cut off.”

I joked to myself, selected “use,” and the first card of the Eight Extraordinary Meridians Chapter immediately disappeared. Instantly, a domineering force rose within me, and a cold, chilling true energy, like a snail racing down a highway, slowly made its way through the Eight Extraordinary Meridians, and the route of its circulation was imprinted in my mind.

When I opened my eyes, sunlight was already streaming in through the window—it was a bright and beautiful day. Just this one cycle of internal energy had taken me the whole night. Although I’d barely slept, I still felt full of energy. It seemed these martial arts cards were truly extraordinary.

The things Julia bought had already been delivered to my room, and the three most expensive items were:

Beginner’s Mental Power Training Card

Level 1 Training Card

Can train and enhance mental power, and accelerates recovery after mental power is depleted

Refined Silver Demon-Breaking Bullets (×100)

Level 1 Treasure

A weapon used by the Western Church’s demon-hunting group to snipe vampires.

Has the property of corroding evil life forms.

Contains five points of holy power

Cross Holy Spear (×2)

Level 2 Treasure

A weapon used by the Western Church’s demon-hunting group to snipe vampires.

Large pistol design

Fires special refined silver demon-breaking bullets, magazine capacity of twenty-five rounds.

Julia, who was sleeping soundly on the living room sofa, had at some point changed into a moon-white set of pajamas. The semi-transparent material made it so that I could vaguely see she wasn’t wearing any underwear.

“Devil’s Island must be a place that lures people into depravity, turning them into demons!” I muttered, put everything into the Book of Demons, and went downstairs to buy breakfast.

In the hotel restaurant, I was very surprised to see the ice-cold beauty Harriet Turner chatting with another young girl wearing glasses. That five-foot-long blade, still in its sheath, was placed on the table in front of her, making no one dare to approach.

After getting my food, I mustered up my courage several times before finally walking over and sitting across from Harriet Turner, quietly saying, “Thank you so much for your help yesterday! And thank you for the martial arts card you gave me.”

“Hmph! That card was just something I couldn’t use. There’s no difference between throwing it away and giving it to someone.”

Harriet Turner’s cold attitude left me speechless. After all, I’m not exactly a talkative guy—otherwise, I wouldn’t have chased after Evelyn York for half a year without getting anywhere.
