This is divergent evolution caused by arrivals from different places.
Some even had the spherical metal mesh on their bodies spread out, their limbs shortened, transforming into bird-like structures capable of soaring.
The shock beasts that had just arrived at the giant pit were quickly blocked by their companions.
The worms unleashed the shock beasts’ instinct to attack their own kind.
These shock beasts, each with different forms, began to fight among themselves.
The centipede shock beast kept squeezing deeper, charging forward recklessly.
The frequent vibrations drew the attention of the surrounding companions, who began to besiege it.
A companion with hooked limbs stabbed its appendages into the centipede’s body, pinning it firmly in place.
The bird-like shock beast glided down from above, attacking the centipede’s head.
It was then caught by the metal mesh on the centipede’s head, flapping frantically in place.
In the end, this group of shock beasts turned into a frenzied, trembling ball.
Their limbs locked them tightly together, none letting go, locked in an eternal stalemate.
As soon as the small vehicle entered the deep pit, it was blocked by various limb-balls.
Fortunately, these shock beasts were all obsessed with attacking their own kind that could create greater vibrations, and paid no attention to the small vehicle.
They carefully skirted around the melee area.
They arrived at a slightly quieter zone.
But this “quiet” only meant the absence of metallic collisions.
The massive, muffled rumble of vibrations continued unabated.
It came from underground.
In Logan Clark’s field of vision, the underground was filled with limb-balls formed by shock beasts.
The limb-balls produced by the melee did not simply disappear.
Instead, they kept vibrating, eventually sinking into the soil.
But evolution was still ongoing.
The strong among the shock beasts forcibly broke free from the prison of limbs.
After another period of evolution,
they broke through the earth.
Some transformed into mole-like forms, their limbs turning into sharp claws.
Others abandoned one leg, with the remaining leg morphing into a wriggling, earthworm-like shape.
But most took on various insect forms.
Cicadas, centipedes, ants, cutworms.
Logan Clark was deeply shocked.
This was convergent evolution.
They had nothing to do with the creatures on distant Earth, but because the environments were similar, they happened to evolve similar structural forms.
At the same time, these creatures that burrowed out of the ground shared another trait.
They were enormous.
A gigantic, ferocious ant-like shock beast burst out from the surface and headed toward the center.
It blotted out the sky and sun, and the small vehicle was instantly covered by the shadow of the ant’s body.
This terrifying creature paid no attention to the commotion beneath its feet—or perhaps, to it, such things were no longer obstacles.
The vibrations forced Ryan Clark to stop the car, staring blankly as the ant moved forward.
Meanwhile, Logan Clark was tossed about inside the metal block, completely disoriented.
Only after the ant had gone far did they recover from the shaking.
“That was terrifying.”
The space inside the block was limited; Logan Clark had no way to deal with such a gigantic creature.
Ryan Clark’s face was also full of fear, but after the ant left, she still resolutely started the car.
The small vehicle headed toward the center, and from afar, a mountain could be seen.
A mountain made of metallic limbs.
Countless massive shock beasts stopped at the foot of this mountain, becoming part of it.
Their enormous size meant tremendous weight.
The ant from before struggled to climb up the mountain, but because it was too large, it slipped and fell.
Loose metal limbs slid down with the ant, pressing down on its body.
Such things were happening elsewhere on the mountain as well; the gaps formed by metal limbs blocked the way toward the center.
At this moment, their massive bodies became obstacles.
Finding the empty shell of an earthworm-shaped shock beast, Ryan Clark barely managed to drive the small vehicle up onto it.
Bumping and jolting.
The hard inner walls of the metal block left Logan Clark’s whole body aching.
Fortunately, it wasn’t long before the small vehicle reached the top of the mountain.
This was a flat-topped mountain, with broken metal blocks filling the crevices, so the small vehicle finally didn’t have to struggle as much.
The sound of vibrations kept coming from outside the mountain, but atop this hill, it was very quiet.
Only the rustling sound came from beneath their feet; listening closely, it was the sound of metal scraping.
Logan Clark saw countless metal mesh balls rolling along the mountain’s crevices toward the center.
These rolling balls had abandoned their massive bodies, but didn’t expect the crevices to get narrower and narrower, turning into dead ends.
Instead, they themselves filled the gaps, becoming the mountain’s support.
Ryan Clark got out of the car and also looked into the mountain’s interior through the crevices.
After making her notes, she slowly moved forward again.
The small vehicle followed behind, and Logan Clark’s field of vision also reached the edge of that red pool.
From a distance, the lake’s surface looked perfectly calm, but up close, it was clear that wasn’t the case.
The flesh slimes had abandoned their metal shells and squeezed with difficulty through the crevices to the center.
The pool seemed like a living creature, constantly writhing and surging.
The edges of the slimes were indistinct, blending together, undulating and swirling within, forming one vortex after another.
Arriving at the edge of the pool, the black horn wrapped in red waves also appeared in Logan Clark’s field of vision.
It wasn’t an illusion—it really was pure black!
Logan Clark had never seen anything so black.
Objects she’d seen before, even if black, would still reflect a little light, and stains on them would show some color.
But this black horn, surrounded by slimes, seemed to absorb all light.
Amazed by the strangeness of the abyssal creation, Logan Clark also recalled Ryan Clark’s earlier plan.
Braving great danger to come here was all for obtaining the black horn.
Now that they were close enough, it was time to try bringing the black horn in.
