Chapter 2

“Andrew, are you feeling better?” The man frowned as he walked to the bedside. He placed a small bowl on the nightstand and reached out his large hand to touch Edward Scott’s forehead.

“No more fever. Drink the meat broth first. Your body is too weak.”

Edward Scott quickly accessed the memories of the man before him.

Kyle Reed, the current head of the Lio family, and also the baron who ruled the territory. But in front of Andrew, he was simply a loving father.

“I remember I told you before,” Baron Kyle said in a lowered voice, “Don’t hang around with those little brats from the city. Even if you’re classmates in the knight courses, you shouldn’t get too close to them.”

“It’s my fault, Father.” Edward Scott unconsciously lowered his head and spoke softly. But this wasn’t his own intention; it seemed to be a reflex from the body’s original owner.

“You fell off a crazed galloping horse and didn’t even break any bones. Looks like you’re pretty lucky.” The baron relaxed his tone a little. Seeing his son lower his head in guilt, he couldn’t help but feel a pang of heartache.

“Your older brother ran off to join the army, and whether he’ll come back is uncertain. The future hope of the Lio family probably rests entirely on you. If anything happens to you, I can’t even imagine the consequences…” The baron sighed and said no more.

In Andrew’s memories, Edward Scott also knew that his father’s personality was just like this.

To outsiders, he was the domineering baron of the Lio family, cold and unfeeling. There were quite a few servants in the family who had been executed by him for minor mistakes. And as a lord with many subjects, the baron would take in beautiful women from the territory every few years, resulting in many children.

More importantly, last year, after a series of schemes and plots, the baron sent troops to annex a neighboring barony, nearly doubling his territory.

People outside talked about his brutality and arrogance. His cunning and treachery. His cold-blooded ruthlessness.

But unfortunately, the baron’s feelings for Andrew were unique. Or rather, his feelings for Andrew’s deceased mother were very special.

So, Andrew held the highest status among all the children.

No matter what he wanted, the baron would do everything in his power to fulfill his wishes.

“You must remember, Andrew. No matter what, as the future heir of the Lio family, you must not lack reason. You must think carefully before doing anything.” Baron Kyle said gravely to Edward Scott.

“I understand, Father.” Edward Scott nodded solemnly.

“As for Catherine, forget about her. The other one, the girl you asked for before, I’ve already sent to your room. You’re still young, so just have some fun, but if I find out you’re getting obsessed…” The baron paused, a hint of cruelty flashing in his eyes, “You know what will happen.”

“I understand.” Edward Scott tensed up inside and nodded quickly. Although the baron was very fond of him, the trouble he’d caused this time was a bit too much.

“All right, finish your soup and get some rest. I have things to take care of. Later, Old Howard will send someone to escort you back to the castle. I’m leaving now.” The baron nodded and turned to leave.

The moment the bedroom door closed—

Edward Scott caught sight of a fully armored knight standing outside the door. He recognized him; that was the baron’s strongest warrior, Sir Otis. He liked to crush his enemies’ heads with heavy armor, just like smashing a watermelon.

People in the territory all called him the Demon Knight.

With a bang, the bedroom door closed.

Outside in the courtyard came the baron’s low voice and footsteps, gradually fading away until they could no longer be heard.

Edward Scott turned his head to look at the meat broth on the nightstand.

He knew that if it were just ordinary meat broth, the baron wouldn’t have brought it himself.

The meat in here came from a fish called the ring-ding fish, which, according to legend, was created when evil wizards turned lost children into fish with their magic. He’d drunk it before when he was injured.

Edward Scott picked up the silver bowl and looked inside.

In the milky white broth, a small silver fish the length of a finger could be faintly seen. The fish’s head was shockingly similar to a human face.

“A fish with a child’s face…” Edward Scott muttered, staring at the pained expression on the childlike face in the bowl. Instantly, his stomach churned.

“This world really isn’t the same as the one before…” The thought flashed through his mind.

Sitting on the bed, Edward Scott hesitated for a long while, but in the end, he pinched his nose and gulped down the soup. As for the fish head with the child’s face, he tore it off and left it in the bowl. He didn’t dare eat something like that.

After finishing the soup, he lay half-reclined on the bed to rest for a while.

Only then did Edward Scott begin to sort through the memories in his mind.

The original Andrew, because of his father’s favor, was timid and indecisive in personality, but when it came to entertainment, he was in no way inferior to the other children—if anything, he was even more privileged.

Whatever he wanted—things, pets, wealth, even people—the baron would do everything possible to satisfy him. This led Andrew to become increasingly reckless, wanting to snatch up anything he liked.

In other words, he was the very definition of a spoiled rich kid.
