Chapter 16

Able to increase agility by 1... This kind of temptation was absolutely irresistible for him, who was in desperate need of strength right now.

Moreover, after these days of training, with the chip’s adjustments, Andrew was also eager to see the results of his improved practice.

In the early morning, a thin layer of white mist still lingered in the woods outside the castle. On the open ground at the edge of the forest, the cavalry squad had already started their morning run, shouting their cadence.

Andrew, accompanied by two guards, slowly walked in circles along the edge of the clearing, heading toward the forest opposite the castle.

The only passage connecting the castle to the outside world was a main road, flanked on both sides by vast stretches of forest and mountains.

Andrew’s outing with two guards didn’t attract the attention of the cavalry squad; such actions were not uncommon in the past. They were all used to it. However, some people did notice that Andrew seemed to be preparing to actually enter the forest.

Immediately, a few mocking glances were cast his way. In the castle, many people had long been dissatisfied with this good-for-nothing second young master. Having already considered themselves part of the castle, they naturally resented being led by someone so weak. So, seeing Andrew heading into the forest, these people pretended not to notice. Some of them even secretly hoped that Andrew would simply die in the forest.

Andrew, however, remained calm and collected. Although his physical fitness wasn’t particularly strong, with the chip’s adjustments, his movements were extremely concise and efficient. Especially with his greatest confidence—archery—under the chip’s assistance, his accuracy was nearly one hundred percent. He had secretly tested this with the practice range’s bows and arrows at night; even in the pitch-black darkness, he could maintain a very high hit rate at fifty meters. So, he was confident that hunting some prey would be no problem.

Andrew and the two guards had walked less than twenty meters into the forest when one of the guards stopped him.

“That’s far enough, young master. If we go any further, we won’t be able to protect you.”

“All right, let’s do it here then.” Andrew showed a slight smile.

He took off the short bow slung over his back, then drew a white-feathered arrow from the quiver and nocked it.

“Step aside. Let me see if there’s anything worth shooting.” he ordered.

The two guards exchanged helpless glances, then simply sat down to avoid blocking Andrew’s view. After all, this wasn’t deep in the forest, so it wasn’t particularly dangerous. There was no need to worry too much.

“The most common things here are red one-eyed snakes and little critters like umbrella squirrels. As long as we keep an eye out and make sure no one-eyed snakes get close, we’ll be fine,” one guard whispered.

The other nodded slightly.

Standing on the grass, Andrew swept his gaze around.

“I remember my father once hunted a mountain black bear in the forest. Although he was seriously injured, the bear’s hide became the most prestigious symbol of strength in the castle,” he said calmly.

The two guards weren’t sure what he meant.

“Mountain black bears are among the strongest creatures in the forest, and they’re the overlords of the outer woods. But don’t worry, their territory is usually at least a two-hour walk further in, past the small hill ahead.”

In this world, a day was evenly divided into twenty-five hours. In terms of time, it wasn’t much different from Andrew’s previous life on Earth, except that each hour was a bit shorter.

“That’s good.” Andrew nodded, his eyes alert for any movement around him. “Although I can’t accept the seed inheritance, I’m still very confident in my archery. I should be able to bag something this time.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Andrew spun his body sharply, drew his bow, and released.

Whoosh!!!

A white blur shot out, thudding into a large tree more than ten meters away.

A small gray snake was pinned tightly to the trunk, still struggling desperately.

Chapter 008 Arrival 2

Andrew quickly jogged over, the two guards momentarily stunned that he’d actually hit something, then hurried to catch up.

“It’s a one-eyed snake, a red one-eyed snake!” Andrew had previously asked about red one-eyed snakes.

The little snake on the trunk was about as thick as a thumb, with a single blood-red eye on its forehead—that’s where its name came from, a snake with a red single eye. Its skin was exactly the same color as the gray tree trunk; if it hadn’t been pinned by the white-feathered arrow, the two guards coming up behind almost wouldn’t have recognized it.

Andrew drew his iron sword, aimed at the snake’s head, and smashed down hard with the hilt. The one-eyed snake immediately fainted and stopped struggling.

“I’ve heard that eating the eye of a one-eyed snake is good for your eyesight. I want to try it,” Andrew said softly.

The two guards looked at each other, not knowing what to say.

They could only watch as Andrew drew a small hunting knife from his lower back, cut the little snake into a bloody mess, dug out the red single eye, and then, without hesitation, tossed the entire eyeball into his mouth and swallowed it whole.

Although the one-eyed snake was highly venomous, apart from the venom glands and fangs, the rest of its body was non-toxic, so the two didn’t dare stop Andrew; after all, it was his own catch.

After swallowing the snake’s eye, Andrew frowned, a strange expression appearing on his face.
