Chapter 9

As for Owen Carter, her younger sister had been by her side almost all her life, inseparable like conjoined twins. Although her sister's martial arts were even better than hers, it was always she who took care of and protected her sister.

To be separated from her sister for three years would truly be like having them cut apart with a knife. Let alone leaving her sister in this terrifying castle—she simply couldn't accept it, Ian Carter was so innocent and timid.

“If you disagree, then just leave.” Mysterious Warlock said coldly.

For a moment, Owen Carter stood there, not knowing what to do, while Logan Bennett was extremely reluctant.

“Fine, I agree.” Ian Carter suddenly stepped forward, speaking resolutely.

“Sister.” Owen Carter cried out in surprise.

Ian Carter said, “Sister, it was Master who raised us, and Miss treats us as real sisters. I can't just watch our family be destroyed like this. For the sake of continuing the family legacy, what does this small sacrifice of mine matter?”

Owen Carter's eyes turned red as she said, “Can you really do it? You've never left my side before.”

“How will I know if I don't try?” Ian Carter said, “You've taken such good care of me, I've become just like a child.”

Owen Carter closed her eyes sadly, took a deep breath, then opened her eyes and said, “Alright, I agree. Let my sister stay here with you for three years. You won't make her do anything terrible, will you?”

“Of course…” Mysterious Warlock chuckled, then said, “Alright, I'm going to do my facial now. You all leave.”

Mysterious Warlock opened a box and took out a living creature from inside. This creature was completely transparent, like a blob of water. Once it was taken out, it let out a terrified scream. Was she really going to use this creature for her facial?

That was all they could see. After that, the three of them—Owen Carter and the others—left the laboratory.

……

After just two hours, the laboratory door slowly opened.

Logan Bennett immediately saw Norton's corpse, which was now completely unrecognizable. Not only was the entire face gone, but all the skin on the body had disappeared as well.

On the stand on the table, there was now a mask.

It was nothing like what Logan Bennett had imagined. This was not a human-skin mask, but rather a thin, semi-liquid crystal layer about two or three millimeters thick, with the contours of a human face, but completely transparent and constantly flowing, as if it were alive.

“Lie down. Time to change your face,” said Warlock.

Chapter 5: Royal City, Here I Come

Glancing at Norton's skinned corpse, Logan Bennett shuddered and said, “So where is the skin from the corpse?”

“It was peeled off. Now you become him, and there’s no evidence left. The face I give you must be flawless,” said Mysterious Warlock.

Logan Bennett breathed a sigh of relief. As long as this mask wasn't made from Norton's skin, it was fine.

He lay down, and Warlock gently picked up the mysterious crystal mask and placed it lightly on Logan Bennett's face.

Immediately, he felt an itch, because the mask was flowing and seeping in.

Sure enough, it completely seeped into Logan Bennett's face. Because it was fluid, it gradually changed Logan Bennett's appearance bit by bit. This mysterious mask was truly alive.

The nose became a little higher, the lips more delicate, the corners of the eyes more upturned, the eyebrows more handsome, and the eyelids now had a more flirtatious charm.

The phantom mask kept flowing for a full quarter of an hour, maybe even longer, until Logan Bennett felt drowsy, as if he was about to fall asleep.

Finally, everything stopped, and Logan Bennett felt nothing on his face. He couldn't help but reach up and touch his face. Other than feeling that his skin was smoother, there was no sense of any barrier at all. The touch was still incredibly clear and sensitive—even every stubble of beard was still there. It was as if he wasn't wearing a mask at all, as if it was his own face.

He even wondered if it had failed—how could he not feel the mask at all?

But when he opened his eyes and saw the shocked expressions of the Owen Carter sisters, he knew the transformation had succeeded.

Warlock held up a mirror in front of Logan Bennett.

The mirror was made of crystal, almost as good as a mirror on Earth, showing every detail perfectly.

Seeing himself in the mirror, Logan Bennett was stunned.

……

Logan Bennett found that he had completely changed his appearance, though he still looked about seventy percent like his original self. Now, this face was three degrees more handsome, and looked exactly like Norton, flawless—even the rakish, frivolous air was perfectly imitated.

Just from the face alone, no one could spot any flaw.

It was truly miraculous, to be able to make someone look exactly the same. Although Warlock's price was high, her skills were truly magical.

Logan Bennett asked, “So if I want to change back to my original face in a few years, what should I do?”

Warlock replied, “Just come find me again, still a thousand gold coins. But once this phantom mask is removed, it will be completely destroyed and can't be restored.”

Then Warlock pointed at Ian Carter and said, “This girl stays. The two of you can go.”

Ian Carter's eyes reddened and she said, “I—I want to see my sister and him off, is that okay?”

Warlock nodded.
