Chapter 10

Ian Carter held her sister tightly, not moving for a long time. Although she did not cry out loud, she kept sobbing. Owen Carter did not cry, but her eyes were bloodshot.

The two of them said nothing. They were twins, connected in spirit, so there was no need for words of farewell or advice.

After letting go of Owen Carter, Ian Carter hugged Logan Bennett and said, “Logan Bennett, from now on you are our young master. You must work hard to revitalize the Suo family, okay? You must protect Miss well, all right?”

Logan Bennett's eyes reddened. If it weren’t for this pure and kind girl, he would have been killed by Owen Carter long ago. In fact, she was his true savior. Moreover, to revive the Suo family, she had agreed to stay in this terrifying manor for three years, even though she had never left her sister’s side before.

At that moment, Logan Bennett felt a heavy sense of responsibility.

“Three years from now, I’ll come to get you,” Logan Bennett said softly.

“It’s a promise,” said Ian Carter, reaching out her small hand.

“It’s a promise.” Logan Bennett hooked his pinky with hers.

“All right, you two should go. Miss must be getting anxious.” Ian Carter said, then turned and ran into the castle.

And so, the highly skilled yet innocent and timid Ian Carter stayed behind in the castle, to accompany the eccentric and reclusive mysterious sorcerer.

……

With immense sorrow, Owen Carter and Logan Bennett left the mysterious sorcerer’s manor.

Norton’s body could not be taken back, as it was completely destroyed, with all the skin stripped off. On the road, it would surely rot, so it had to be burned, and the ashes brought back.

Owen Carter placed Norton’s body on a flat stone slab, then took out a bottle of fiery red liquid and poured it over the corpse. She handed the torch to Logan Bennett and said, “Now you are the young master, the only man of the family. You do it.”

Logan Bennett was stunned, took the torch, and immediately felt its weight—not the torch itself, but the weight of Owen Carter’s words.

Looking at Norton’s body on the stone slab, Logan Bennett said softly, “I don’t know if I can do it well, but I will do my best.”

Then, he set Norton’s body on fire.

“Whoosh…” Instantly, blue flames shot up, and with the help of the mysterious liquid, Norton’s corpse was instantly engulfed, burning fiercely.

In less than a quarter of an hour, the flames died down, and Norton’s body was completely gone, leaving only a layer of unburned ashes.

Owen Carter carefully swept all the ashes into a box.

“Let’s go, back to the Earl’s residence in the royal city.” Owen Carter took one last look in the direction of the sorcerer’s manor, took a deep breath, and then leapt onto her horse.

Logan Bennett got into the carriage, while Owen Carter rode a fine horse, driving the carriage northwest at full speed, heading for the royal city of the Furious Wave Kingdom—Zhi Capital!

……

On the fifth day after leaving the sorcerer’s manor, the carriage entered a city of the Furious Wave Kingdom.

Looking out the window at these cities, Logan Bennett clearly sensed one word: fusion of East and West. There were ancient Eastern-style carved railings and jade balustrades, pavilions and towers, as well as Western castles, arenas, sculptures, and more. These cities were all very prosperous, and the closer to the royal city, the more bustling they became.

On the tenth day, a magnificent and enormous city stood before Logan Bennett—the royal city of the Furious Wave Kingdom had arrived.

The Furious Wave Kingdom, the southern overlord of the Middle-earth world, spanned thousands of miles and had a population of over thirty million.

The capital, the royal city, also known as Zhi Capital, had a population of a million. It was not only the largest city in the Furious Wave Kingdom, but also one of the world’s five great cities.

The city walls of Zhi Capital stretched sixty or seventy li in circumference. Standing before it, one was completely awed by its grandeur and magnificence.

Whether on top of the walls or below, everywhere were soldiers in brightly colored armor.

Logan Bennett even saw dozens of black shadows in the sky.

Looking closely, they were warriors riding griffins, patrolling the skies. In this world, there was even a beast air force.

The three open city gates ahead were already huge, yet countless crowds still squeezed at the gates, waiting to enter. Logan Bennett also noticed people of all races—mostly yellow-skinned, but also some white and brown-skinned people.

After Owen Carter showed a jade token, she rode straight through the central gate without even speaking to the officers. Such was the privilege of nobility.

Once inside, a vast city and throngs of people greeted them.

“Royal city, I’m here!” Logan Bennett couldn’t help but whisper.

Chapter 6 National Beauty and Heavenly Fragrance Isabel Norton

The royal city, Zhi Capital, was simply enormous, with crowds jostling shoulder to shoulder on the streets. Some women wore revealing clothes, exposing most of their skin, while others were completely shrouded in robes, showing only their eyes.

The buildings in the royal city were almost as dense as the crowds, with five- and six-story buildings everywhere, lined up in rows.

The scent of women’s cosmetics, the sweat of men, the stench of the sewers, the aroma of meat from street food—countless smells mixed together, creating a very strange and complex odor.

Owen Carter wrinkled her nose and said, “Zhi Capital is still as smelly as ever.”
