Chapter 17

Little Lewis was the female office worker who had been cheering earlier. She took the delivery from Ethan Carter and then paid the bill.

"Do you still need something?" After paying, Little Lewis noticed that Ethan Carter was still lingering and couldn't help but ask in confusion.

"I wanted to ask, where's the restroom here?" Of course, Ethan Carter hadn't forgotten his real purpose for coming, and quickly asked with a serious expression.

Little Lewis's face turned slightly red, but she still pointed out the location to Ethan Carter.

Seeing the office full of beautiful women, Ethan Carter was a bit reluctant to leave. Distracted, he responded absentmindedly and headed straight for the restroom.

Ethan Carter hadn't been waiting in the restroom for long when an employee from Longhua Group came in—a refined-looking male office worker, who seemed rather frail, the type who looked like a pretty boy, clearly a bookish type with no physical strength.

"You'll do!" After a brief moment of thought, Ethan Carter closed the restroom door, lifted his leg, and kicked the male office worker in the stomach.

The man had only come in to use the restroom, never expecting such a turn of events. He didn't even have time to react—his vision blurred, he took a kick to the stomach, and fell to the ground wailing.

"Let's show him who's boss first!"

Ethan Carter knew that if he wanted to force out the whereabouts of the fire poker, he had to be ruthless, make the other party submit, even instill fear, so that he wouldn't dare to lie and would tell the truth.

So after knocking the man down, Ethan Carter went up and started punching and kicking him.

The male office worker was completely innocent and had no idea what was going on, but there was no chance to explain—what greeted him was a rain of fists and kicks.

"Damn! This guy's physical condition is way too poor. I haven't even started asking questions yet!" Ethan Carter was a bit frustrated. He hadn't even hit him for long before the man passed out cold, completely unconscious.

"Phhht!"

A splash of cold water hit the man's face.

"Please, spare me! Don't hit me anymore, let's talk this out! If you want money or anything, we can discuss it!" As soon as the man woke up, he immediately covered his face and begged for mercy.

"Relax, I'm not your average bandit. I won't rob or kill you, and I definitely don't want your money!" Hearing this, Ethan Carter's face darkened. It seemed the man had mistaken him for a robber.

"As long as you don't want money!" The man's expression relaxed at first, but then he remembered Ethan Carter's words, "I'm not your average bandit," and his face turned ashen again. "If you don't want money, then do you want me?"

"Damn! What kind of person do you think I am?!" Ethan Carter's face instantly darkened at that, and he reflexively slapped the man, shouting angrily, "I'm asking you, where did you hide the relics from the Paleolithic era?"

Ethan Carter was incredibly strong, and with his anger, the slap packed quite a punch. The man's face immediately swelled up, tears nearly streaming down, looking utterly aggrieved.

Ethan Carter glanced at the man and realized he might have gone a bit overboard, so he suppressed his temper and said, "As long as you tell me where the fire poker is, I'll let you go!"

"I... I don't know!" After a long while, the man finally replied hoarsely.

"Don't know? Still trying to hide it from me?" Ethan Carter flared up again at this, instinctively raising his hand.

"I really don't know! This is the top secret of our entire company. Very few people know about it, and I'm just a low-level employee—how could I possibly know?" The man, terrified of being hit again, blurted out the truth as soon as he saw Ethan Carter raise his arm.

Hearing this, Ethan Carter thought it made some sense. He'd seen on TV that people always kidnap and interrogate first, so he followed suit, but he had forgotten to consider this point.

"Sigh, those TV dramas really are fake—they're going to get people killed!" Ethan Carter thought to himself, silently complaining.

"Sir, I really don't know. Please, be magnanimous and let me go!" Seeing Ethan Carter's shifting expression, the man thought he wasn't believed and, afraid of being hit again, quickly added, "But there is someone who definitely knows where the relics are."

"You know? Quick, who is it?" Ethan Carter had been about to just knock the man out, but didn't expect him to provide a useful lead, and his eyes lit up.

"Our company's deputy general manager, Brian Bolton!" After a moment's hesitation, the man replied. Brian Bolton, relying on his father being the company's chairman, had always acted high and mighty in the company, monopolizing almost all the attractive female colleagues. The male colleagues had long been fed up with him.

Seeing Ethan Carter's decisiveness and ruthlessness, the man figured he was probably a professional robber. So why not redirect the trouble? He could save himself and give Brian Bolton a harsh lesson, venting the frustration of all the male colleagues.

"Brian Bolton?" Ethan Carter was taken aback.

"Yes! Brian Bolton is our deputy general manager, and his father, David Bolton, is our group's chairman. Right now, Chairman Bolton is away on a business trip, so only Brian Bolton knows where the relics are hidden." Seeing Ethan Carter hesitate, the man hurriedly explained, afraid he wouldn't believe him.
