James Grant finally noticed that after casting that spell, the little beauty’s face had clearly turned pale, her body was swaying, and her breathing had grown heavier.
“Damn it!” James Grant cursed angrily, grabbing a handful of the long fur on the paw that Grella was using to hold him, and slowly steadied himself.
The little beauty’s magic had bought James Grant a chance. Enduring the piercing pain, Young Master Grant painstakingly wriggled his body out from under Grella’s massive paw.
The earlier fear had completely vanished. With the fight reaching this point, James Grant had cast aside all hesitation in his heart. The ferocious gorilla had awakened the violence hidden deep within James Grant.
Chapter 3: Subjugation
Taking advantage of the moment when the gorilla was struggling to free itself from the barbs, James Grant used both hands and feet to climb back onto the top of Grella’s head.
The little beauty’s spell just now had failed, making James Grant realize how freakishly tough Grella’s defenses were. Now, the only thing that could hurt it was that piece of wood jammed into its nostril!
If he could drive the stake into its skull, no matter how strong it was, it would suffer brain death.
With this in mind, James Grant climbed onto Grella’s enormous head.
Grella’s long, dense fur had now become James Grant’s greatest aid. He grabbed it directly with his hands, and no matter how much Grella shook its body, it couldn’t shake James Grant off.
Meanwhile, Young Master Grant’s now-agile movements allowed him to narrowly dodge Grella’s claws several times.
“Roar~~~” Grella went berserk, leaping more than ten zhang high on the spot. When it landed, it crushed countless trees, and the ground shook violently.
James Grant almost fell off.
But at this moment, Young Master Grant was already clutching Grella’s fur, face to face with it. Those huge eyes glinted with a bloodthirsty light, making James Grant shiver with fear.
Without any hesitation, James Grant clenched his fist and aimed at Grella’s eyeball, landing a heavy punch right on its eye.
With a loud bang, James Grant felt a sharp pain in his fist. Punching the gorilla’s eyelid felt like hitting a steel plate.
Only now did James Grant truly experience the monstrous defense of this mutated creature.
Bracing his feet, James Grant suddenly kicked the half-exposed wooden stake.
With a squelch, like a bayonet stabbing into flesh, the stake pushed a bit further into Grella’s nostril, and blood splattered all over James Grant’s head and face.
Grella began to moan in pain.
The tender flesh inside its nostril had been severely injured, making all its muscles tremble in agony.
James Grant wanted to kick it a few more times, but suddenly a surge of heat welled up in his chest—a massive, burning current that made James Grant feel as if he were being roasted over a fire.
Immediately, this heat quickly flowed into his limbs and bones. Even though it dispersed, James Grant still felt his mind burning and confused.
Even so, James Grant’s huge fists, accompanied by the sound of rushing wind, kept pounding Grella’s eyeball. The constant thudding echoed in the air, thoroughly shaking the green-haired girl’s heart.
James Grant kept feeling as if something was trying to burrow into his chest, and inside his chest, something seemed to be trying to break through, swelling forcefully, giving him an apocalyptic sense of dread.
Suddenly, a brilliant light burst from his chest, enveloping both James Grant and the massive Grella.
The girl was completely stunned—everything before her eyes was beyond her expectations.
Grella was a physical-attack magical beast, incapable of any magic, but the bright light before her was clearly the result of a powerful spell.
Could it be... the person she summoned was actually a mage?
With a crack, a sound echoed from deep within his soul, making James Grant stop involuntarily.
In that instant, he suddenly felt his whole body become unimpeded, all previous discomforts vanishing completely, as if all the restraints within him had been broken through.
Grella clutched its head, lowering it without moving, and James Grant could clearly sense a faint connection forming between himself and the monster before him.
He experimentally punched Grella a few more times, but the once-violent creature didn’t move a muscle. Instead, it peeked at James Grant through its fingers.
What on earth was going on? Just as he was about to turn and ask, James Grant suddenly felt darkness before his eyes and fell straight off Grella, landing on the ground with a thud.
In his sleep, James Grant seemed to see a vast river appear within the world of his body. In that river flowed a mysterious, powerful liquid. The river ran through his entire body, forming a huge, unending cycle.
At the river’s source was a spinning sphere. With each rotation, the river’s current sped up, and his consciousness grew clearer.
Though he didn’t understand why, James Grant knew that this sphere would be the most important thing to him from now on.
