“Aier Mall, right? I’m not far from there. Wait for me, I’ll be right over.”
After saying that, Ethan Brooks hung up the phone, hailed a taxi, and headed straight for Aier Commercial Plaza.
There was a bit of traffic on the way, so it took a while.
After getting out of the car, the first thing he saw was Olivia Brooks, standing with a companion by the bus stop, using the shelter to block the sunlight.
It was June, and the afternoon temperature outside was high. Both girls were sweating from the heat, but they kept waiting there.
Ethan Brooks hurried over and said to Olivia Brooks, “You’ve been waiting a long time, haven’t you? Why not wait inside the mall?”
Olivia Brooks nodded, didn’t bother with greetings, and said directly, “I told you not to come, but you insisted. What’s the point of you tagging along while we shop?”
Ethan Brooks simply ignored her, smiled at the girl next to her, and said, “You’re Olivia Brooks’s friend, right? I’m Olivia Brooks’s brother, Ethan Brooks.”
The girl beside her glanced at Ethan Brooks, then at Olivia Brooks, pursed her lips, and greeted him politely, “My name is Sarah Morgan, hello, brother.”
Her voice was a bit cool, but still soft and girlish. It was clear she didn’t care much about Ethan Brooks either.
Olivia Brooks was a little unhappy and directly pulled Sarah Morgan toward a shopping street next to the mall. She didn’t really like being with Ethan Brooks, especially since he insisted on coming after she told him not to.
Ethan Brooks shrugged indifferently and followed behind them, just treating it as completing the task his mom gave him.
So, on this street, there appeared the odd scene of two extremely eye-catching beautiful girls walking in front, with an ordinary young man following behind, especially since there was almost no interaction between them.
To be fair, Olivia Brooks was very pretty. She wasn’t very tall, but definitely not short for her age. She wore light blue denim shorts and a white T-shirt, showing off her fair legs, and red sneakers on her feet, looking full of youthful energy.
Sarah Morgan was a bit taller, her looks no less than Olivia Brooks’s. She wore a white tight dress with a bit of lace trim, barely covering half her thighs, outlining her curvy figure, and her long, straight legs were especially striking.
Ethan Brooks followed behind with a blank expression, but was boredly calculating in his mind.
Sarah Morgan was certainly beautiful, but Olivia Brooks wasn’t bad either—both were the youthful beauty type. But Sarah Morgan’s figure was outstanding; he didn’t know how she grew like that, but she totally outclassed the underdeveloped Olivia Brooks.
And Sarah Morgan’s outfit was very nice, the dress well-made, showing her family was well-off. In contrast, Olivia Brooks looked a bit too casual and laid-back, losing out in that aspect too.
Just as Ethan Brooks was feeling sorry for his little sister, Olivia Brooks thought for a moment and realized it wasn’t very nice to ignore him. But as soon as she turned her head, she saw his gaze fixed on Sarah Morgan’s back, staring nonstop. Her face instantly darkened, she whipped her head away, and sped up her pace.
The rest of the time was just Olivia Brooks and Sarah Morgan shopping and buying some snacks, while Ethan Brooks followed behind to pay.
Ethan Brooks also found it boring to follow behind, constantly hinting for the two beauties to buy clothes, hoping to spend the five thousand yuan quickly so he could be free from this misery.
At first, Olivia Brooks and Sarah Morgan browsed some nearby clothing stores, but Sarah Morgan clearly looked down on the cheap clothes. Olivia Brooks did find a few suitable ones, tried them on, but didn’t buy any.
Ethan Brooks couldn’t help but wonder if these two girls were teaming up to mess with him.
Chapter 10: Just Use the Card, I Didn’t Bring That Much Cash
Ethan Brooks’s endurance was far above average, but Olivia Brooks and Sarah Morgan were just delicate girls. After walking for so long, they got tired and suggested finding a cold drink shop to sit down and have some water.
Ethan Brooks ordered a glass of ice water, Olivia Brooks got an iced lemonade, and Sarah Morgan ordered watermelon juice. The three of them sat and drank, but no one spoke. The previously chatty Olivia Brooks and Sarah Morgan also fell silent because they were sitting with Ethan Brooks.
Suddenly, Olivia Brooks looked up, calmly stared at Ethan Brooks, and said, “You lost your job, didn’t you?”
Ethan Brooks was stunned, looked up and said, “How did you know? Did Emily Foster tell you?”
Olivia Brooks lowered her head, took a sip of water, stirred the lemon slices with her straw, and said without looking up, “I guessed.”
Ethan Brooks gave a bitter laugh, staring at the chewed-up end of her straw, and said, “Since when did you start caring about me? That’s rare.”
Olivia Brooks looked up at him, her gaze a bit disdainful: “I’m not stupid. If you hadn’t lost your job, how could you have the time to shamelessly come shopping with us?”
“…Shamelessly!!!”
Ethan Brooks was speechless and simply stopped talking.
And Sarah Morgan didn’t say a word from start to finish.
After finishing her drink, Sarah Morgan put down her glass and finally spoke, saying to Olivia Brooks, “It’s so hot outside. Xiaoyou, didn’t you want to buy clothes? Why don’t we go shop in Aier Mall? They have central air conditioning.”
Olivia Brooks glanced awkwardly at Ethan Brooks, a trace of embarrassment on her face, and said softly, “The clothes in Aier Mall are really expensive. Let’s just keep shopping outside.”
