This class of the ninja academy is full of talent. Besides the already graduated Konoha technician David Scott, there are future Twelve Guardian Ninja James Harris, genjutsu expert Grace Evans, taijutsu powerhouse Brian Lee, BOSS Matthew Morgan, and also Frank Adams, the head of Konoha’s ANBU Interrogation Division. The not-yet-disfigured little shota usually doesn’t talk much, but he’s very polite, showing no signs of becoming a sadist. Oh, and there’s one more dropout worth mentioning in this class: the future Fifth Hokage Tsunade’s disciple + follower + secretary + personal assistant, Helen Wright. Her uncle is Konoha elite jonin Helen 'Not Hawk' Wright, a handsome, strong, and charming winner in life, but unfortunately, he raised a death flag before the war and wasn’t tough enough to survive—he died!
This story tells us that women should have several backups!
Besides these elites, there are also a few background characters from the original work, such as Philip Carter, Steven, and others. These students have average grades, with a ceiling of elite chunin at best. Special mention goes to Steven, because of Henry Carter’s “self-indulgence,” the handsome little shota is quite popular and has attracted a lot of jealousy for Henry Carter.
“Next, Laura Green!”
“Laura Green, hit 7 bullseyes, 70% accuracy, time used: 4 seconds, assessment result: good, C+ rating.”
“Next, Paul Foster!”
“Paul Foster, hit 6 bullseyes, 60% accuracy, time used: 3 seconds, assessment result: average, C rating.”
……
“Next, James Harris!”
Chapter 9: I’ve Already Reached Uncle Age
“It’s my time to shine.” James walked confidently to the throwing line, full of chuunibyou energy. Hmm, a beard makes a man mature, so beardless James is extra chuunibyou.
Without waiting for Mr. Turner’s signal, James used both hands to throw ten kunai in two seconds, not missing a single one—all hit the bullseye.
“Excellent! James Harris, hit 10 bullseyes, 100% accuracy, time used: 1.5 seconds, assessment result: outstanding, A rating.” Mr. Turner praised. Every teacher likes excellent students—if only he weren’t so cocky.
“Sigh, I didn’t break 1 second, what a mistake. It must be because these kunai don’t feel right. At home, I always use Hokage-special kunai.” James strutted back with a victorious air, his words oozing with rich-kid vibes.
Outstanding assessment, A rating—this is today’s best result. As the Hokage’s son, James’s starting point is higher than everyone else’s; excellence is expected. This is his pressure, but also his motivation—though he doesn’t understand that yet.
Matthew was dry heaving on the side, showing his disdain.
“Damn you, dead last, what’s with that face?”
“Ah, I just have a stomachache. Must be the instant noodles from this morning—they were expired!” Matthew said, picking his nose.
“Instant noodles don’t expire in a hundred years! Don’t tell me your breakfast was noodles from a hundred years ago!” James shouted angrily.
“Yeah! They’re instant noodles passed down for generations in the The Morgan Family. The clan head even blessed them at the shrine!” Matthew picked his nose with both hands, begging for a beating.
It’s hard to imagine that this clown would one day stir up a storm, force the Five Great Nations to form an alliance, and start the Fourth Great Ninja War. Henry Carter really wanted to ask Charles Morgan why he chose Matthew as the key executor of his plan. After all, before Matthew went mad for love, he was just… such a dork. Also, he was always a “two” (idiot), so why did he become so powerful after going crazy for love?
“Ah—I’m going to kill you!”
After losing the verbal battle to George Morgan, James angrily declared that if the teacher weren’t present, he’d teach Matthew a lesson and show him the gap between a top student and a dead last. James threw down the threat, and Matthew responded with a middle finger.
“Quiet!” Mr. Turner roared, pointing at the two of them. “If you keep arguing, your scores for today will all be zero.”
“Yes, Mr. Bennett!” The two, caught in their bickering, immediately snapped to attention and stood straight.
“Hmph! Next… Henry Baker!”
Meanwhile, in the Hokage’s office in Konoha.
“Sharp-tongued, lazy, afraid of trouble, no ambition. Other than eating much less than others, there’s nothing different from an ordinary person…” The Third Hokage Samuel Harris tossed aside the mission report in his hand and looked at William Baker, puzzled. “What is this, a personality assessment? And, is the person in the report really a four-year-old kid? If I didn’t see the age, I’d think it was a frustrated middle-aged man.”
“Hokage-sama, I know this report isn’t up to standard, but that kid really is like this.” William Baker nodded seriously. “He’s a very precocious child. He already knows about his parents’ deaths, but he hasn’t become depressed because of it, nor does he show his pain to others. He’s very optimistic in dealing with people and things, and he’s someone who brings others both joy and… trouble.”
