Chapter 9

The car drove into a small estate. The girls got out one after another. Before getting off, they asked for Matthew Carter's phone number and inquired where the car would be waiting. Matthew Carter then followed the estate guard's instructions, started the car, and drove toward the estate gate.

As he drove along, his eyes kept wandering to both sides: fountains, a private swimming pool, tennis courts, a front garden, tall walls with electric fences, a heavily guarded gate—the luxurious setup was enough to make anyone click their tongue in amazement.

“When will I ever have a house like this?”

As he drove out of the estate gate, Matthew Carter’s mind was filled with such thoughts.

He didn’t leave, but instead turned the car around and parked it in a small parking area diagonally across from the estate.

According to Red Penguin Company’s regulations, he had to wait here with the car in case of emergencies.

The sun soon set, the sky gradually darkened, and the thumping sound of music faintly drifted over from the estate. Matthew Carter looked up and saw beams of laser light shining in the night sky—a wild party had begun.

Thinking of those six young and beautiful girls, Matthew Carter couldn’t help but feel envious.

Dong—dong—

Suddenly, someone knocked on the car door from outside. Matthew Carter turned to look. At some point, a person wearing a baseball cap and carrying a handbag had come up to the car.

“Can we talk?”

It was a woman’s voice!

“Who are you?”

Taking the opportunity to speak, Matthew Carter turned on the Ford’s dome light. The light shone through the window and fell on the person outside, letting him see clearly that it was indeed a woman.

Matthew Carter appeared very cautious. This world is full of sunshine, but where the sun doesn’t reach, darkness abounds. People invaded by darkness might do crazy things for even the tiniest benefit.

“Are you the one…” The woman lifted her baseball cap, revealing long brown hair tied in a ponytail, and pointed toward the estate. “Did you send a lot of women in there?”

Matthew Carter didn’t answer. Instead, he sized her up from head to toe. This woman was very thin, probably about 1.7 meters tall, and quite distinctive—mainly in two ways: her full, thick lips, and her prominent chest that didn’t match her slim figure!

Although she wasn’t his type, she could still be considered a unique beauty.

“Get in.” He opened the door on the other side. “If you have something to say, get in the car.”

The woman walked around the front of the car, got into the Ford van, and sat in the seat next to the driver, placing her handbag at her feet.

Matthew Carter had already let his guard down, because he recognized who this woman was. Unless Angelina Jolie had gone crazy, she wouldn’t come here at night to rob a poor guy like him.

Thanks to having seen “Tomb Raider” before, when he saw that prominent chest and full lips, Matthew Carter was sure this woman was Angelina Jolie.

“You still haven’t answered my question,” Angelina Jolie reminded him.

“Sorry,” Matthew Carter said righteously, “I can’t answer you. That would go against my professional ethics.”

Angelina Jolie didn’t say anything. She took out her wallet from her pocket, casually pulled out five green bills, and placed them between the two seats.

Matthew Carter glanced at them and, seeing two zeros after the 1, immediately nodded. “Yes, I sent in six women, Miss Jolie.”

Professional ethics don’t mean much to someone with only a few dozen dollars to his name, who doesn’t even know how he’ll eat tomorrow.

However, Matthew Carter wasn’t stupid—he directly pointed out Angelina Jolie’s identity.

Angelina Jolie wasn’t surprised that Matthew Carter recognized her. She was already fairly well-known in Hollywood.

Matthew Carter glanced at Jolie, unable to figure out why, at this time and place, a Hollywood star would come to his car.

But it didn’t matter if he didn’t understand. He grabbed the five bills and stuffed them into his pocket.

Seeing Matthew Carter’s greedy look, Angelina Jolie felt she’d found the right person.

“Want to make more money?” Angelina Jolie suddenly asked.

Matthew Carter turned his head and looked at Jolie’s well-defined, square face. Angelina Jolie was known for her wild ways and bad reputation, but he wasn’t foolish enough to think she’d come here to flirt with him—she must have some ulterior motive.

A Hollywood celebrity like her, coming here at night and seeking out a strong-looking driver like him—what could she want? Matthew Carter guessed it was probably something shady!

He immediately started calculating in his mind: What’s in it for me?

“Who doesn’t like money?” Matthew Carter nodded vigorously.

Angelina Jolie pointed toward the estate again. “Do you know who’s throwing the party in there?”

“Johnny Lee Miller,” Matthew Carter replied, recalling some information he’d seen before. “The big star from ‘Trainspotting’!”

“Do you know him?” Angelina Jolie asked again.

“Uh…” Matthew Carter really didn’t. He answered honestly, “I’ve only seen his photos.”

“That’s fine.” Angelina Jolie seemed satisfied. “As long as you do as I say, you can get five thousand dollars.”
