Chapter 8

As expected, everyone here recognizes him. David Hamilton secretly wiped a cold sweat from his brow—thank goodness he’d changed his story quickly, or he would have given himself away. Although this driver looked quite ordinary, it was easy to imagine that once he got back, he would report every word and action of his without missing a detail. If that made his parents suspicious, things would get very troublesome.

In a place like this, David Hamilton had absolutely no experience. Fortunately, he still had Grace Carter by his side, so naturally it was best to let her take the lead: “Gracie, it’s time to test your skills—there’s over three hundred thousand in this card, the password is six zeros, you know that. So, let me see how you squander money.” Heh, it didn’t matter if he wasn’t familiar with the place; Grace Carter was a native of this world and came from a wealthy family. Even if she hadn’t really participated in this kind of thing, she must have at least heard about it. Things like exchanging chips or finding a gambling table would be no problem at all.

“Hmph, you big spendthrift, it’s not enough for you to waste money alone, you have to drag me into it too.” Grace Carter didn’t give David Hamilton a pleasant look at all, but she didn’t refuse either. She handed the card directly to the doorman: “Exchange two hundred thousand in chips, then take us to the top floor VIP room. Anyway, this spendthrift is paying for everything.” Although she didn’t dare refuse David Hamilton’s request now, her tone was far from friendly.

Thank goodness, it was lucky to have played this card.

David Hamilton’s heart almost leapt out of his chest. Good thing he had someone to take the lead, otherwise he probably would have given himself away after just a couple of sentences. As for Grace Carter’s attitude toward him, that was no big deal.

Grace Carter had no awareness at all of being used as a shield, and even boasted, “You want to waste money? Well, today I just won’t let you have your way. Hmph, wherever you go, I’ll follow you!”

“Yes, yes, yes,” David Hamilton laughed to himself, but on the surface acted unconcerned: “As long as we can waste money, you can follow if you want, it’s no big deal.”

With that, the two took the elevator upstairs. On the way up, David Hamilton couldn’t help but bicker with Grace Carter: “Hey, Gracie, you have to help me waste money later, the faster the better. If we run out, I’ll get more. Today, we’re here just to squander money!”

Grace Carter retorted angrily, “Going out with me and still thinking about wasting money? Dream on! As long as I’m here, you’ll never succeed!”

Soon, they arrived at the top floor Supreme VIP room of the casino. As soon as the attendant saw David Hamilton, he immediately opened the door and said, “Young Master David, you’ve arrived, please come in. Your favorite Table 2 has always been reserved for you.”

“Alright, got it.” David Hamilton replied coolly, but his heart skipped a beat: “Where is Table 2? I need to figure this out quickly, or it’ll be a problem if I can’t find it.”

Fortunately, bringing Grace Carter along to waste money today was a stroke of genius. The little girl happened to ask curiously at this moment, “Why do you always use the number two? I’ve noticed you like to pick two for everything you buy or do.”

You really are my little angel—what perfect timing for that question! David Hamilton almost wanted to pull her into his arms and give her a big kiss: “That’s just how I am. If I’m picking a seat, it has to be number two. Sitting at number one would be letting myself down.”

Seeing the attendant beside them struggling to hold back laughter, Grace Carter wished she could find a hole to crawl into. Her face turned bright red as she exclaimed, “I don’t want to be silly with you! I’m not sitting in your seat! Change it, change it! Or I’m going home!”

He’d been waiting for this. David Hamilton shrugged, pretending to be helpless: “Alright, then let’s just sit wherever today. Sit wherever you like, is that okay?”

“That’s more like it.” Grace Carter pouted as she walked inside, not forgetting to warn him as she went: “I’m warning you, stay away from me, or I’m afraid I’ll become as silly as you!”

“Alright, alright, whatever you say.” David Hamilton stifled a laugh and swaggered in after Grace Carter into the Supreme VIP room.

No wonder he was known far and wide as the number one spendthrift. As soon as David Hamilton walked in, people greeted him everywhere he went: “Oh, Young Master David is here, what a rare guest!” “Young Master David, what do you plan to play today?” “Wow, Young Master David actually brought a young lady today—is she your sweetheart? Congratulations!”

David Hamilton smiled without saying much. If someone greeted him, he just smiled back and kept a certain distance. Otherwise, if he ran into someone familiar or someone wanting him to put in a good word with his parents, that would be troublesome.

Soon, he found a table with an empty seat. David Hamilton glanced at the cards on the table—it looked like Texas Hold’em. Perfect, this game loses money fast, so he could rely on it to complete his ten-thousand-yuan-losing mission!

Grace Carter took her seat, and David Hamilton pulled over a small stool to sit beside her. This move startled the gamblers present, and they all began speculating about Grace Carter’s true identity. But no matter how they guessed, they couldn’t figure it out. After all, although the Tang family had a good relationship with the Hong family, the Tang family’s current status was far below that of the Hong family, so far fewer people recognized Grace Carter than David Hamilton.

Soon, the attendant brought over the two hundred thousand in chips they had exchanged earlier—a huge tray, which he carefully placed at the head of Grace Carter’s table. The game began.
