Chapter 18

David Hamilton pursed his lips, put his hand to his ear, and showed clear dissatisfaction: “That’s it? What kind of person am I? Everyone, tell me! Louder, I can’t hear you!”

The whole place erupted: “Young master! Young master!” “Super prodigal son!” “You are the sun in my heart, the guiding light!”

Only then did David Hamilton look satisfied. He raised his hand in a calming gesture and laughed heartily: “From now on, this place is my turf. I declare, starting now until this time next week, everything here is free, all day, every day! Free! What are you all waiting for? What’s there to hesitate about?!”

A whole week of free access! What an exciting announcement! Instantly, the entire first-floor lobby of Night Fragrance was filled with wild shouts: “Long live! Long live!” “Long live Young Master Dali!” “Young master, I love you!”

David Hamilton finally looked pleased, waved his hand with flair: “Lackeys, let’s go upstairs and have a look around!”

Grace Carter kept two meters away from David Hamilton; walking with this prodigal was just too embarrassing—utterly humiliating!

This place now basically counted as his own property, and David Hamilton was about to look around when suddenly a sarcastic, mocking voice rang out: “Yo, I was wondering who could make such a commotion—turns out it’s my dear little brother, haha.” The voice was cold and biting, the hostility in the tone obvious. David Hamilton turned to look and saw a young man in a silver-gray suit approaching with two bodyguards, saying as he walked, “Little brother, it’s been two years since we last met, and you’re still as hopeless as ever, hahaha.”

Looking at the young man before him, David Hamilton instantly ran through several thoughts: “So rude—clearly, we’re not on good terms. Daring to talk to me like this, he must be from the Hong family, but which branch? Haven’t seen each other in two years, and he greets me with sarcasm—seems he’s pretty jealous of me. Hm, look at those shifty eyes, always glancing at Xinxin—this guy’s quite the lecher.”

He analyzed all this in a flash, but on the surface, David Hamilton just chuckled and said lazily, “Aren’t I always like this? How could I miss such a great chance to squander money? But I wonder, did you come here to freeload too? Don’t worry, I already said I’m covering everything today—I don’t mind one more or one less. Just didn’t expect you’d come to eat for free too, that’s really a surprise.” Since they clearly weren’t friends—maybe even had a big grudge—there was no need to be polite.

Since David Hamilton had said he’d pay for everything today, this brother who popped up out of nowhere really could be here for the free food. David Hamilton’s ambiguous words made the other’s expression quite interesting. He was clearly stunned for a moment, then forced a laugh and shifted his gaze to Grace Carter standing beside David Hamilton, smoothly changing the subject: “Haha, this young lady is really beautiful, Dali, you have good taste. May I ask her name?”

“My fiancée, Grace Carter.” David Hamilton pulled Grace Carter into his arms, subtly blocking part of the man’s view, and said, “No need for you to worry about her—I can handle it.”

“Grace Carter? Surname Tang? Are you Richard Carter’s daughter?” Hearing David Hamilton say Grace Carter’s name, the young man immediately dropped his other thoughts. Richard Carter’s father and the old patriarch of the Hong family had a life-and-death friendship back in the day—someone not to be messed with. Now, with the atmosphere awkward, he could only make small talk: “Well, if you’re Richard Carter’s daughter, then I really don’t need to worry.” At this, the young man moved a bit closer to David Hamilton, grinning: “Actually, I came today for two reasons: one, to have a look around, and two, I have some business I’d like to discuss with you, David.”

“Oh? Business? You and me?” This time, it was David Hamilton’s turn to be surprised: “What could we possibly work on together?”

“It’s very simple.” The young man signaled to his bodyguards, who immediately cleared a quiet space around them. Only then did the young man smile and say, “I heard by chance that you, David, bought this whole nightclub?”

“That’s right. Why, you want it?” David Hamilton was blunt, plopping down on the sofa and arrogantly propping his feet on the coffee table, looking every bit the prodigal: “If you want it, just say so—I’ll transfer it to you. We’re all family, it’s simple.” The task was already done, so if this guy wanted to buy the nightclub, David Hamilton certainly wouldn’t mind making a quick million or two.

“Hahaha, David, you must be joking—I don’t have your kind of connections.” The young man laughed awkwardly and said, “Actually, I came to see you today because I want to transfer a few properties and shops nearby. What do you think? They’re all close to here, big enough, and the price is fair. Interested?”

David Hamilton arrogantly picked his nose with his pinky: “Hmm, interesting. Tell me what you’ve got.”
