Chapter 7

The roar of an engine sounded passionately from the back of the crowd. The people parted, and a sleek supercar slowly drove forward, stopping less than five centimeters in front of the old Jetta’s hood.

“Lamborghini Aventador…”

Looking at the supercar before her, Alice Reed's expression grew even uglier. Although her old Jetta had been modified to be quite impressive, compared to a real supercar like this, there was still a significant gap. Plus, the other side had a professional driver. In today’s race, she had almost no chance of winning.

Alice Reed glared fiercely at David Thompson, fuming, “David Thompson, do you have any shame? If you’ve got guts, race me yourself in your M3.”

“Oh, angry now? Scared?” David Thompson shamelessly grinned and said, “If you’ve got the ability, you can find a driver too, or switch cars. I’m not stopping you.”

Alice Reed was shaking with anger. She loved cars and raced for her own beliefs and honor. In her eyes, getting help or switching to a better car was an insult—something she would never stoop to.

Just then, a scantily clad woman standing next to David Thompson pointed at Ryan Brooks, who was sitting in the passenger seat, and mocked, “Look, so Miss Reed brought a helper. Is this some legendary, incognito racing god?”

Everyone followed the woman’s finger and burst into laughter, because no matter how you looked at the man in the passenger seat, he didn’t look like a racing expert.

Alice Reed glanced at Ryan Brooks, feeling a bit sorry for him. She thought, if I’d known, I wouldn’t have brought him. Now not only am I embarrassed, but Ryan Brooks is being humiliated too.

The passenger door slowly opened. Under everyone’s gaze, Ryan Brooks got out of the car, gently shook his head, looked at the sexy woman, and said seriously, “Miss, you really have a sharp eye. Even though I hid so well, you still saw through me. That’s right, I am the racing god of Gaoliu Mountain, nicknamed the Gaoliu Speed King.”

At these words, the whole crowd was stunned, their eyes instantly focusing on Ryan Brooks. Although no one had heard of Gaoliu Mountain, since he claimed to be its racing god, he must not be ordinary.

Alice Reed's eyes lit up, and her lost hope was rekindled. Thinking of how calm Ryan Brooks was when he got in the car, she wondered if she’d really gotten lucky and met a master?

Just as David Thompson frowned and Alice Reed was feeling hopeful, Ryan Brooks showed a look of reminiscence and said, “Back in the day at Gaoliu Mountain, Jack and Tom were no match for me. Every time, I left them far behind, dust trailing in my wake. My car—I miss it so much. That pure pigskin handlebar, the big 28-inch steel wheels, the tire that was only patched seventeen times—how dashing, how…”

David Thompson twitched his mouth, cutting Ryan Brooks off, and asked, “Wait, what kind of car did you drive?”

Ryan Brooks puffed out his chest, looking proud: “That’s right, my car was a classic 1968 Phoenix 28-inch bicycle. Hahaha, aren’t you all jealous!”

Pfft…

Immediately, the whole crowd nearly spat blood. After all that, this guy was a bicycle god.

The hope that had just flared up in Alice Reed was extinguished again, her heart turning cold. She helplessly covered her face—embarrassing, today was just too embarrassing.

“Hahahaha, Alice Reed, the racing god you brought is amazing, almost scared me to death.”

David Thompson laughed mockingly, and the others all burst out laughing as well.

“Stop wasting time, let’s start the race.”

Alice Reed frowned, unable to bear being laughed at any longer. She went straight to the driver’s seat of the old Jetta, thinking she could only do her best. As for whether she could win, she’d just have to leave it to fate.

Seeing Alice Reed get in the car, Ryan Brooks curled his lips into a mischievous smile and got into the passenger seat.

Alice Reed turned to look at Ryan Brooks, her face full of helplessness. She was about to ask Ryan Brooks to leave on his own when David Thompson patted the roof, standing outside the driver’s door, and said, “Alice Reed, since you have someone in your car, I can’t let you be at a disadvantage. I’ll sit next to George Washington too.”

With that, before Alice Reed could reply, David Thompson had already gotten into the passenger seat of the Aventador.

Alice Reed frowned slightly. Now she couldn’t ask Ryan Brooks to leave, otherwise, with the other car carrying an extra person and more weight, even if she won, it wouldn’t be a fair victory.

Of course, she knew her chances of winning today were almost zero.

Alice Reed sighed and said to Ryan Brooks sitting beside her, “Sigh, the race might get a bit dangerous later. Be mentally prepared. By the way, who are the Jack and Tom you mentioned earlier?”

“Jack is my family’s chicken, Tom is my family’s duck,” Ryan Brooks replied calmly.

Alice Reed was speechless, a wave of regret washing over her. If only she hadn’t brought him—why did she have to be so foolish?

Chapter 006: Recruiting a Beautiful Female Follower

The old Jetta and the Aventador lined up side by side in two lanes. The others also got into their cars. Although they weren’t racing, they wanted to join in the fun.

The Aventador’s window rolled down. George Washington glanced disdainfully at Alice Reed, while David Thompson gave a thumbs-down gesture and shouted at Alice Reed, “Alice Reed, let your Gaoliu Mountain racing god show off and take you flying, hahaha…”

Alice Reed snorted coldly, closed the window, and ignored the provocations from George Washington and David Thompson.
