Chapter 14

After she finished speaking, Sarah Hill shouted at Mad Dog and his gang, “If you’ve got the guts, come at me! He’s just a passerby.”

Looking at Sarah Hill’s slender back, Ryan Brooks’s eyes flashed with surprise and admiration. He grabbed Sarah Hill’s arm and pulled her back, causing Sarah Hill to lose her balance and float lightly backward.

After regaining her footing, she saw Mad Dog and his crew looking vicious, their spring knives slashing toward Ryan Brooks.

“Ah!”

Sarah Hill cried out in alarm, covering her eyes with both hands, not daring to witness the bloody and violent scene.

Bang bang bang bang...

Sounds of fighting rang out. Sarah Hill gritted her teeth and thought to herself, “Ryan Brooks stepped up to save me. How can I just leave him alone? No, I have to help him.”

Summoning her courage, Sarah Hill closed her eyes and charged forward, waving her fists wildly, but didn’t hit anything, as if there was no one around.

Puzzled, she lowered her flailing fists and cautiously opened her eyes.

When she saw the scene before her, Sarah Hill was instantly dumbfounded.

Mad Dog’s gang was lying on the ground, groaning in pain, looking at Ryan Brooks with fear; while Ryan Brooks was still sitting on his old bicycle, not even having gotten off.

Looking at Ryan Brooks’s tall back, in that moment, Sarah Hill thought he looked so cool!

“He may be a bit glib, but he’s a good person, and his martial arts are amazing.”

Sarah Hill felt her heart pounding wildly, two blushes rising on her fair cheeks. She scolded herself inwardly, shook her head, and stopped letting her thoughts run wild.

“Mad Dog, right? Come on, let me see just how crazy you are.”

Ryan Brooks beckoned to Mad Dog with a smile.

Mad Dog and his crew recoiled in fear. They never expected that a kid riding a beat-up old bike would turn out to be such a master.

“Kid, you dare hit members of the Black Wolf Gang? Just you wait, your whole Dong’an Tech is going to pay the price.”

Mad Dog spat out a threat, scrambled up from the ground, and fled with his lackeys.

Ryan Brooks stepped on the pedal, about to give chase, but Sarah Hill grabbed him: “Don’t go after them, be careful—they might have backup.”

“Alright, I’ll listen to you, fairy.”

Ryan Brooks looked back at Sarah Hill, making her feel awkward under his gaze. She nodded slightly and murmured, “Don’t call me fairy, just call me Sarah Hill.”

Ryan Brooks nodded solemnly. “Okay, Rou Rou.”

“It’s not Rou Rou, it’s…” Sarah Hill wanted to correct him, but thought better of it. She said to Ryan Brooks, “Let’s go get the textbooks.”

They picked up the textbooks. Ryan Brooks put the books in the bike basket, pointed to the crossbar in the middle of the bike, and said to Sarah Hill, “Rou Rou, you were frightened just now. I’ve decided to treat you to a meal. Come on, get on.”

Sarah Hill glanced at the crossbar, wanting to refuse, but couldn’t out-argue Ryan Brooks.

Thinking of how Ryan Brooks had just saved her, she felt she should give him some face. In the end, she steeled herself and sat sideways on the crossbar.

“Let’s go.”

Ryan Brooks got on the bike, sitting close to Sarah Hill. He caught a faint, fresh scent from her, tranquil and elegant. He took a gentle sniff, looked down, and caught a glimpse of snowy white.

Meanwhile, Sarah Hill was looking straight ahead, completely unaware of Ryan Brooks’s gaze.

The old bike rolled through the campus. With the two of them on it, rising and falling with the oval wheels, they became a unique sight, stirring up a commotion among the students.

Seeing the pure campus belle sitting on a beat-up old bike, everyone was stunned—it was simply unbelievable.

Soon, the news spread throughout the school and made it onto the campus BBS, causing a huge sensation.

There were all kinds of thread titles on the BBS, but the most clicked post was: “The Pure Campus Belle Rides the Mysterious Man’s Crossbar, Up and Down.”

Chapter 011: The Campus Belle Is Too Innocent

The screech of brakes sounded. Amid the envious, jealous, and resentful stares of a group of guys, the old bike stopped at the entrance of Dong’an Tech’s cafeteria. Ryan Brooks got off and reached out to help Sarah Hill: “Rou Rou, please get off.”

Sarah Hill got off the bike, shyly letting go of Ryan Brooks’s hand, and the two walked side by side toward the cafeteria.

“Damn, what’s so great about this guy that the campus belle actually got on his bike?”

“Getting on the bike is one thing, but it’s a bicycle!”

“A bicycle is one thing, but it’s a beat-up old bicycle.”

One by one, the guys were full of frustration and sadness, unable to figure out what made them inferior to Ryan Brooks, and why they hadn’t won the favor of the pure campus belle.

Ryan Brooks and Sarah Hill arrived at the Dong’an Tech cafeteria. Originally, Ryan Brooks was supposed to treat, but he didn’t have a meal card, so in the end, Sarah Hill treated him instead.

They found a seat. Ryan Brooks said, “Rou Rou, you treated me today. Next time, I’ll have to repay you with a big meal.”

“It’s fine, it’s just a few bucks.”

Sarah Hill smiled slightly, immediately making the surrounding male students stare, wishing they could become Ryan Brooks and have a meal face-to-face with Sarah Hill.

Just then, Sarah Hill’s phone rang—it was a text from her roommate, telling her to check out the post on the campus BBS.

She opened it on her phone, and her cheeks instantly turned bright red. She stole a glance at Ryan Brooks, thinking to herself how wicked those people posting really were.
