Chapter 11

William Carter chuckled and put the fish in the kitchen refrigerator. Then, putting his arm around Linda Parker's shoulders, he said, "Get ready. The day after tomorrow, I'll send you to England to visit your father."

Linda Parker frowned. From William Carter's words, it seemed he wasn't planning to go with her. She asked, "What about you?"

William Carter replied, "I need to go to Australia to take care of some things. Oh, and I'll have Emily Carter and Little Brian accompany you. With the two of them by your side, I feel at ease."

Linda Parker was quite displeased. True, she got along well with Emily Carter and Little Brian, but after all, they weren't William Carter. Having them as company just wasn't the same. Originally, she had been looking forward to this trip to Europe, thinking she could have a good time traveling with William. Now, after hearing what he said, all her excitement was gone. Linda Parker sighed, turned to look at William Carter's fair and gentle face, and felt helpless inside. Since he could change his plans and decide to go to Australia at the last minute, there must be something going on—and something important at that. Although she felt unhappy, Linda Parker didn't complain at all. She just said softly, "William, then be careful."

Linda Parker's understanding nature warmed William Carter's heart. A woman like this—no man could dislike her. He nodded, gently brushed the bangs from her forehead, and smiled, "I will."

The next day. William Carter, dressed casually, was lying on a lounge chair by the sea. Henry Bennett, Charles Foster, and the Five Elements brothers were sitting on lounge chairs on either side of him. All of them were in crisp suits, which made them stand out even more under the blazing sun by the sea. Even passersby would feel hot just looking at them, but none of them showed the slightest sign of discomfort.

"What did that person say yesterday?" William Carter stood up, stretched, and asked casually.

Golden Eye said, "Their speedboat was acquired in Darwin. Then, from Darwin, they went to Buster Island, stayed there for a while, and only then set out for us."

As one of the Five Elements, Golden Eye was a former assassin, skilled in the art of killing. If he wanted to kill someone, he could easily think of more than fifty ways. Likewise, if he wanted to torture someone without killing them, he had plenty of methods. For him, prying open someone's mouth was no big deal.

"Darwin?" William Carter tapped his forehead with his index finger and said, "Although it's not far from us, it's a gathering place for the aboriginal people. They wouldn't have any fondness for the Japanese, and it's impossible for them to just rent out a speedboat to them."

Golden Eye nodded, "That's right."

William Carter said, "So, either the Soul Group still has some remaining power in Darwin, or someone is supporting them from behind."

Golden Eye said, "Unfortunately, that person didn't know much about this. He only said the speedboat was lent to them by someone named 'Mark.'"

William Carter turned his head, looked around at everyone, and asked, "Has anyone heard of this name?"

Everyone looked at each other and shook their heads. William Carter shrugged with a smile, "Looks like we'll have to make a trip to Australia."

Darwin is the capital of the Northern Territory of Australia. The Northern Territory is arguably the most desolate region in Australia, mostly made up of desert, with a total population of just over a hundred thousand, most of whom are aboriginal people. Jile Island is at the northern tip of Australia, not far from Darwin, and even closer to Buster Island. However, since most of the area is barren, if they wanted to find valuable clues, Darwin was the only place to go.

In Darwin, William Carter had his own people planted, and even had dealings with high-ranking local officials.

Jile Island is surrounded by sea on all sides. To get to the island, one must first pass through Australian territorial waters, so Darwin is usually used as a transit point to Jile Island—except for those who try to sneak in, but that would risk being shelled by the Australian navy. As a transit point, there are often flights between Darwin and Jile Island. For convenience and to reduce troublesome procedures, William Carter had spent a lot of money on local officials.

No matter where you are in the world, money is always the most effective and direct passport.

On the day Linda Parker went to England, William Carter took Henry Bennett, Charles Foster, and the others and flew straight to Darwin. As a coastal city, it had all the features of a seaside town and was a world-famous tourist destination. Foreign tourists could be seen everywhere on the city streets. Tall coconut trees lined the roads. Walking on the soft, fine sand, looking at the deep blue sea, and feeling the cool sea breeze, it was hard to believe that to the south of this city lay a vast desert.

With a roar, two helicopters landed on the rooftop helipad of a four-star hotel. At that moment, people were already waiting there. Leading them was a man in his forties, fat and tall, wearing a floral shirt, sunglasses on his face, and his hair slicked back, shiny and bright.

The helicopter door opened, and William Carter jumped out of the cabin. The middle-aged man straightened up, quickly took off his glasses, hurried forward, and bowed respectfully, saying, "Brother Eric!"

It was a funny scene—a man in his forties bowing and scraping to a young man just over twenty, his face full of respect and caution.

"Mm!" William Carter nodded, looked the middle-aged man up and down, and said with a smile, "You've gotten fatter again."
