“What are you taking the snake gall for?” Henry Sutton asked.
“The snake gall itself is a great tonic, and this gu snake is a spiritual creature, having absorbed the essence of heaven and earth. Its inner core is the source of its power.” Ethan Woods said with a hint of reluctance as he put it away. “Once I use a thunder talisman to refine away its poison and use it as medicine, it will become a tonic that can help you recover from your injuries, and also help your sister recover sooner.”
“This…” Henry Sutton took a deep breath and said, “Thank you, Ethan Woods.”
This elder had stepped in to save them, risking his life to fend off a powerful enemy and rescue his cousin.
Now, even though his temple’s treasures had been taken by them, not only did he not kill to reclaim them, he even used this rare and precious tonic as medicine for the two siblings.
Such an elder was truly worthy of respect.
“There’s no need to thank me.”
Ethan Woods said, “You killed this giant python, which means you saved my life. Besides, the corpse of this python is still of great use to me. The gall is yours, the rest is mine.”
Henry Sutton nodded and said, “I’ll leave everything to your discretion, Ethan Woods.”
Ethan Woods said with a touch of regret, “It’s a pity you smashed the snake’s head. Otherwise, those snake eyes would have been treasures as well.”
Henry Sutton gave an embarrassed smile at these words.
Ethan Woods said no more, his expression full of exhaustion, holding the snake gall as he walked toward the offering table inside the hall.
Henry Sutton relaxed a little, but he too was exhausted. Forcing himself to look ahead, he saw a truly astonishing ravine in front of him.
At first, it was only the size of a fist, but as it stretched forward, it grew wider and deeper. By the end, it was over a zhang wide and half a zhang deep—an alarming sight.
Was this the ravine formed when the Five Elements Armor rolled forward, dragging earth and stone with it?
Henry Sutton held his breath slightly, marveling inwardly.
“This Five Elements Armor is just too incredible.”
He was still immersed in the shock of the scene before him when suddenly he saw something fly up from the ground ahead.
The thing was colorful, like a butterfly emerging from its cocoon.
“What is that…”
A scene suddenly flashed through Henry Sutton’s mind.
When the black-robed man swallowed the gu snake’s inner core, he casually tossed something aside.
Could that thing have hatched into a butterfly?
He watched as the butterfly flapped its wings and slowly flew out.
For some reason, Henry Sutton felt a chill in his heart and a sudden sense of unease, and was about to call out to Ethan Woods.
But just then, the courtyard gate suddenly opened, and someone walked in.
The newcomer wore green robes and looked young—it was William Green.
Without hesitation, Henry Sutton shouted, “Quick, kill that butterfly!”
William Green was startled for a moment, then immediately understood. With a flip of his hand, he produced a talisman and slapped it toward the butterfly.
But the butterfly was extremely agile, and turned to fly straight toward them.
Henry Sutton’s eyes widened in shock.
“Damn, it’s coming this way?”
Henry Sutton cursed inwardly, “Why did I have to open my mouth…”
Seeing the butterfly flapping toward him, Henry Sutton wanted to get up, but was too weak. He thought to himself that this was bad, and wanted to throw out the Five Elements Armor to protect himself.
“I, Mr. Sutton, carry the inheritance of Daoist Lord Lu Ya, with boundless prospects, destined to become immortal—I can’t die so young.”
He struggled with all his might, trying to throw out the Five Elements Armor.
But just then, a clap of thunder sounded.
A talisman struck the butterfly.
In the next instant, the butterfly turned to ash and scattered down.
Henry Sutton felt a sudden pain in his eyes and quickly shut them.
The ashes happened to fall into his eyes, feeling as uncomfortable as if sand had gotten in.
“Didn’t expect something like this.”
Ethan Woods’s voice came, sounding a bit grave.
This made Henry Sutton feel a sense of foreboding.
Was this butterfly not so simple?
Even though Ethan Woods had destroyed it in time with a thunder talisman, his tone now was even heavier than when facing the black-robed man.
“William Green, help Henry Sutton inside to rest.”
Just as Henry Sutton was about to ask questions, he heard Ethan Woods speak.
William Green answered in the affirmative.
Henry Sutton rubbed his eyes and said, “The butterfly burned to ash. If it was the black-robed man’s poison, and the ash got in my eyes, I won’t go blind, will I?”
Ethan Woods replied calmly, “You probably won’t.”
Henry Sutton felt even more uneasy and asked, “Probably?”
Ethan Woods didn’t answer, just sighed.
“Please say something, don’t scare me!” Henry Sutton grew more anxious.
“Go rest. Whether you go blind or not, you’ll know tomorrow.” Ethan Woods waved his hand.
“What kind of answer is that?”
“If you don’t die, you won’t go blind.”
“……”
Henry Sutton rubbed his eyes.
Was that supposed to be an answer?
……
Quiet room.
William Green supported Henry Sutton, helping him into the quiet room.
Henry Sutton sat down slowly. He could already see things clearly, but his eyes were still red and uncomfortable, much like when sand gets in your eyes.
William Green helped him sit, glanced at Henry Sutton’s cousin, nodded slightly, and said, “After tonight’s fight, Ethan Woods is so exhausted, and you’re tired too. Just rest well, I won’t disturb you.”
Henry Sutton agreed and thanked him.
William Green smiled slightly and said, “No need to be polite. If anything happens tonight, just call me.”
Henry Sutton cupped his hands and said, “Thank you.”
