"Olivia, I've already had someone look into this Ethan Carter. He's just an ordinary person, always has been, and he's totally unworthy of you. His character is bad too—back in elementary school, he even harassed girls. He's just scum. What could you possibly get out of a blind date with someone like that!"
Sophia Clark said, her teeth grinding in anger as she remembered being slapped by Ethan Carter the other day.
But a trace of cold malice flickered in her eyes. She knew that Ethan Carter probably wouldn't be able to make it to the blind date.
Still, that didn't stop her from slandering Ethan Carter in front of Olivia Harris.
No one had ever made her suffer such a loss before.
Olivia Harris just gave a faint smile, as if bringing spring into the room, and said, "It's fine. I just wanted to get away from them for a bit, get some fresh air, and go through the motions!"
"See how rude he is, making us wait for him first? His character isn't great either!" Sophia Clark added indignantly.
Olivia Harris said nothing, closed her beautiful eyes, and sat there quietly, like a figure in a celestial painting.
Suddenly, at that moment, the door to private room number one swung open, and a figure strode in casually, sitting down right in front of Olivia Harris.
"You..." When Sophia Clark looked up and saw who it was, her eyes widened in shock, as if she'd seen a ghost.
Ethan Carter gave a cold smile and said, "What, didn't expect me to show up?"
When Olivia Harris heard this, her elegant brows furrowed slightly, because she sensed that things between the two of them might not be so simple.
"Don't talk nonsense. Whether you come or not has nothing to do with me!" Sophia Clark was startled, but quickly recovered and hurriedly replied.
"Nothing to do with you? You're the one who told your boss, right? He sent someone to kill me, and you still say it has nothing to do with you?" Ethan Carter looked at Sophia Clark, a half-smile playing on his lips.
Chapter 9: You're Very Mysterious
Olivia Harris's beautiful brows immediately knitted together as she looked at Sophia Clark, her calm gaze tinged with inquiry.
Sophia Clark instantly panicked, because she knew Olivia Harris's character very well. On the surface, she seemed gentle and easygoing, always polite even to beggars on the street, but deep down, she was a person with strong opinions.
Over the years, she'd helped Jack Morgan drive away many of Olivia Harris's suitors, but had always done so without Olivia Harris noticing, hiding her actions carefully.
But now, because of Ethan Carter, everything was exposed right in front of Olivia Harris.
"Don't slander me! Whether you come or not has nothing to do with me!" Sophia Clark naturally wouldn't admit it, but her slightly panicked expression didn't escape Olivia Harris's notice.
The questioning look in those beautiful eyes only grew stronger.
Sophia Clark stared hard at Ethan Carter, as if trying to warn him with her eyes not to say anything reckless.
But how could Ethan Carter listen to her? He just sneered and said, "The person behind you is Jack Morgan, right? How much is he paying you to do his bidding?"
When Ethan Carter mentioned Jack Morgan's name, Sophia Clark completely lost her composure, and Olivia Harris, sitting to the side, also showed a look of realization, because she knew Jack Morgan.
Combining the expressions on both sides, if she still didn't understand, she'd be a fool.
A trace of sadness flashed between her brows. She'd never had many friends since childhood, and Sophia Clark was one of the few. Even though there was some flattery involved, she never minded. Sophia Clark's family's rise was partly thanks to her guidance and support.
She didn't care about ordinary things, but Sophia Clark had become someone else's spy to monitor her.
"Olivia, you have to believe me, it's really not like that! He's slandering me!" Sophia Clark hurriedly said. She knew all too well how powerful the forces behind Olivia Harris were. Her own family might be worth hundreds of millions, but if they angered Olivia Harris, it would take just a flick of her finger to destroy them.
Olivia Harris's expression returned to calm, and she said lightly, "You should go. For the sake of our past friendship, I won't hold this against you. But go back and tell Jack Morgan, if he dares to interfere in my affairs again, I will make him pay the price!"
Sophia Clark quickly got up, as if granted amnesty. She knew Olivia Harris too well—once Olivia Harris made up her mind, no one could change it. The fact that Olivia Harris wasn't holding it against her this time was already a stroke of luck.
But all of this was because of that damned Ethan Carter.
Her eyes fixed on Ethan Carter, wishing she could swallow him whole.
"Oh, and tell Jack Morgan, if I find out he sends people after me again, I won't be so polite!" Olivia Harris seemed to remember something and added.
Sophia Clark shot Ethan Carter a hateful look, because she knew that with Olivia Harris's words, it was like having a protective talisman—at least for now, she'd be safe.
After Sophia Clark left, Olivia Harris finally looked at Ethan Carter, who had remained calm since entering. A hint of curiosity flashed in her eyes. According to the information from her mother, he should just be an ordinary person.
This blind date only happened because her mother was doing an old classmate a favor. Neither she nor her mother had ever taken it seriously.
